I love my 2015 S8. The interior never gets old and the rear differential delivers thrilling dynamic cornering. Engine note isn’t over the top but sounds so good when I push the gears.
What do you mean the rear diff? You saying it’s different to the other diffs on it? They’re permanent Torsen AWD so I’m unsure how you can talk about the rear diff only? 🤔
I'd pick the S8 even if the Mercedes was included in the choices. Its the most understated of the 'Big 3' which is why I'd choose it. Not to mention the quattro system, power train and tuning potential.
i would choose the s8, because of the style of the car. its not so over the top.
I’ve owned a S class, 750Li and currently own an A8 (can’t wait to own the new 2019 A8). I love the S class and 7 series but there’s something about the Audi that just makes me love it more and more every time I drive it. The simplest way I could describe it is this. The S class is in a league of its own for sure no doubt. The 7Series is amazing. But the thing is... You know what to expect with an S class. You know how a 7 series will drive and you know it’s never going to be an S class. But for the A8, I truly believe it’s just its own thing. You don’t care if it’s as immaculate as an S class, nor if it drives like a Bimmer. And that’s because it’s what you want but don’t expect, and that to me is why I love it more and more every time I drive it.
I would get the S8. Made exactly like this one in this review. I love that color.

Like a lot of car owners I live in a big city. Phoenix. The streets here are full of poorly repaired ruts to get to under pavement utilities, I mean full. Also plenty of pot holes, expansion joints on some of inner freeway avenues that are 6" wide and 2 or 3" deep. Rough sections of pavement that can go for blocks at a time etc, etc. This is where we do most of our driving. I for one love the power of a big car. I own a bi-turbo v12 s class. My H/D 3/4 ton chevy truck rides quieter on these roads than the Benz. Its the low profile tires that give these expensive luxury cars the rough ride on anything but the smoothest pavements. The Germans need to realize that most people that buy these cars want a serene ride over being able to hit a radius freeway on ramp marked 40 mph at 80!

Responding your question, even if the S63 AMG were an option I'd go for the S8 and here is why: ~$125k for a fully equipped S8 that does 3.9s 0-100km/h versus a ~$160k similarly equipped S63 AMG that also achieves 3.9s. I believe the question you should ask is: is the ~$30-35k difference for an upgrade in interior design justified?

Thanks for being a US-based video reviewer I can watch for the entire episode without endangering the life of my macbook pro. This retina screen model really is lovely and both it, and I, are grateful. Motoman, you're a quirky little son of a gun, and that's a very good thing.That, alongside your ability to put full sentences together that aren't just the bloated and blurted regurgitation of all the outlet store signage you've ever read but not remembered during a lifetime of commuting - well, that's a nice touch too.
Love the new S-Class however I have a soft spot for Audi with their clean but sexy styling, especially with their leds. I'd get the S8 in that exact configuration.

ki flex I think the S8 will turn way less heads than the S Class AMG, not so sure about the 7 series.But I also think that the W12 A8 is even more of a sleeper than the S8

I bought the Jaguar XJ supercharged because I love the way it drives, smells and I cannot stop staring at it whenever I walk away. None of the others made me smile like this one.
I'd actually take the S8 due to rarity and I think its classic audi beauty. But IMHO the clock in the center looks sooo cheap! If your gonna do analog clock Audi at least make sure its not a dollar store clock!

The Audi s8 kills the s63 in speed and it costs way less.. It literally beats m6 m5 and damn near anything on the road being way bigger in size.. Meaning it's not actually in its class an rs8 would be but they DO NOT Make it ( why Audi why!!! ) though Interior wise yes the s63 is nicer hands down god damn the interior of the s63 is nice ... But exterior wise the Audi kills it hands down

The s8 has hit 3.5 0-60, and with nice tune it will hit 0-60 in 3.2 sec, plus it's underrated, actually makes 575hp which means it's closer to 500hp to all 4 wheels. Kills the s63, m5, alpina b7, charger hell cat, this is basically the rs7 of the 8 series, rs7 is not that much faster, s8 can hit quarter in 11.7 and rs7 does 11.4.... selling my s550 this week to get the 14 s8, can't wait!!

Audi S8. Hands down that is the car I would buy. The Quattro all wheel drive is the Alpha and Omega of handling drive trains, Audis in general best combine dynamic handling with sure footed traction. Plus I love the S8's new LED head lights. Matrix headlights.
Far better looking then the Merc regardless of the daft opinions on the interior.
Pretty impressive a 5000 lbs car with 520 HP can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds. There are lighter cars with as much power that can't do that.
I actually like the Audi. I've been a Mercedes man all my life (and I probably will continue to be one) BUT I'm extremely tired of the way Mercedess' age so horribly. A 10 year old Audi or BMW looks 10 years newer than any 10 year old Merc I have seen.

Audi S8 hands down. The drive is more fun then a S63, and is quiet when needed for executive transport. Picking mine up this weekend. The S63 is fun, but I would not drive my clients in it, the roar is distracting to a business meeting. But, if I had the money I would get both. LOL
Audi S8 because it's better looking (in my opinion) than the others (including the S Class) and the interior is absolutely gorgeous and no review I've seen yet has had anything bad to say about the way it goes but that said it has to be in a dark colour preferably black.

I have the 2014 S 63 AMG. It is a miraculous vehicle in every sense of the word. You are absolutely correct, the interior is much more luxurious than the Audi S8. However there is a definitive design flaw in the AMG. The side bolsters on the seat extend too far up and out. For an average built individual that means the bolsters dig into the backs of the arm. This makes for an extremely uncomfortable ride. The S coupe 63 AMG has similar side bolsters. Although the S8's interior is not as luxurious it is a much more comfortable car. The Quattro performance is superlative. The AMGs exterior definitely has a more refined and aggressive look.
I ordered a 2017 S8 and expect to pick up in the end of August. Keep you posted.

I did pick this shape 2017 Audi. And so glad I did. What a car, its just amazing. The S8 your showing is a little down on power now with S8 Plus that's 605bhp and over 700nm, puts the rest to shame with the Quattro driving dynamics as well you really can’t beat it.

The BMW 7 series has an interior almost identical to a well specced 5 series so doesn't feel special enough for the money.
The Lexus doesn't have the image/heritage of the other cars which you want when spending that sort of money. Plus they replace luxury with gadgets and just don't feel the same.
The Audi is a great car, I owned an A6 for 5 years and was very happy with it. Audits are well put together and they really think about all the practical details. They are very sensible cars and very comfortable but not as fun to drive as a BMW or as luxurious as a Mercedes and always felt like a bit of a compromise. When you are in the mood for comfort you will see a Merc and think to yourself did I buy the right car, then when you want to drive fast you will see a BMW and think should I have got that instead and at no point can you say to your self ah but I got the best at ......... It will always feel like a compromise (a very sensible one though)
The Jag is more fun to drive than most of the others and is up there with the BMW. The cabin feels special and is different from cheaper cars so you can see and feel where your money went putting it ahead of the BMW. It has a much better image than the Lexus and a special feel to it. It is as comfortable as the Audi without the lack of fun. It is the car would pick but only because you said in the video you can't pick the S class.
Lexus LS. The only one that will still be running like a champ 25yrs and 1,000,000 miles from now.

Beauh Awk Not true. People who plan to have money in the future look at things like resale value and could very well select the LS because a fool and his money are soon parted. A Mercedes depreciates so much in five years that an entire car is lost in depreciation let alone the cost of upkeep. Some people burn through money. Some people are smart and have it for their entire life.

Audi S8 by far the best sedan out there, it goes trough everything snow, rain, sun, no problems it pulls like a freight train!
I'd buy the S8 because I love the understated stealthy design. The Mercedes is too gaudy for me and the bigger Mercedes cars are stereotypically driven by old people. What I love about Audi is their ability to be sporty and stealthy, but at the same time elegant and luxurious. Add to that the quattro all wheel drive system for confident driving in any weather. You really can't beat it.

I would buy the Audi S8. I like hide in plan sight idea. Plus because less people buy it, the chances of me running into another one is less likely. Which as far as I'm concerned will make the car more rare than the others.
At least when I'm in an Audi, I don't feel like I'm 70 years old (looking at you Mercedes)
I currently have a Merc, but this car makes me want to jump ship. Simply beautiful.
If not the S Class I'd get the 7series. The design of the interior and exterior is better than the other cars (excluding that gorgeous S Class). The drive of the 7 Series is probably the best of the leftover cars, plus it's tech is quite innovative.
I like how the Audi is unassuming and you really don't notice it in a crowd, unti, it blows past the crowd.
I would probably go for the Audi, because of its discete styling. In fact, for that same reason, I probably wouldn't go for an S version.
First off I'll say that I'd never pick an XJ or an LS over the big three and I've personally sat in the LS before. They're really great cars but it just feels like, they're not exactly there yet. The F01 BMW, forget about it, I'm waiting for that G11. The S8 is absolutely beautiful and I've seen one in person with that interior... but I agree, that new S63 is something else. And that's the one I'd pick. But to be honest, I prefer the S63 Coupe. If I were to win the lotto, it would probably be S8 and S63 Coupe haha!

My father-in-law has one of these D4 S8's.... Since driving it for a weekend, I am now obsessed with it, and am patiently waiting for them to come down to below $30k.
I love the way Audi's Handle
Mine is the car Audi UK HQ specced to pick up Audi Germany directors from the airport and had 35K of 'extras'. Love the fact that it is faster 0-60 than my 911 c4S and, unless you know your cars (which many 'boy racers don't) only you will know that you are driving something really special that leaves many disappearing in the rear view mirror if they try and tail-gate you. Still have a smile on my face every morning when I drive it to work passing all the S63 passengers with chauffers!

In the end, he's right. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked the S8, even though they were slow boats, that couldn't keep up figuratively, and literally to the others in the same class. They've gotten better in the last several few years, but the S Class i shoulders above, even if I'm not a Benz fan. If I had the money, and despite what I said, I'd probably end up getting a S8 for my husband. I mean, I hate Range Rovers, but we are ending up with one in the next couple weeks, because if he ain't happy, I'll never get the car I want.
I would buy the Audi S8. Love the design (outside and inside) and I adore the dynamic indicator.

I would definitely choose the S8. I just love Audis. I've never been a 'me too' type of guy who buys what the masses say is the best. Taking nothing away from the S63, but the S8 just fits me!!

I would buy the S8 for its quilted leather, i really wish more cars did that! Although, i dont like how it looks flat; need some rise in those diamonds! But after seeing the 7series with all its futuristic new toys I would buy that, possibly an M7, currently enjoying my 2015 C400 though! Waiting for C63s

I would pick S8 plus black on black. For me it appears like better drivers car then S63 and I like the interior better (suprise). For me, interior of S63 is to much flashy and flamboyant, but this is modern high tech luxurious subtle interior and I think it would keep it good presence for a longer period of time then S63's.
i would buy the s8 due it being all wheel drive it would be better for road trips the the other options

I agree, the new S-class interior killed the competition & pictures don't prepare you for how gorgeous that dashboard really is ... First time I sat in it, I spent almost an entire hour just staring & touching it & had to be dragged out of it kicking & screaming.
I always wondered why Audi builds the S8 as SWB-only, while the S6x AMG & 7er M-Sport are LWB-only ... It certainly seems odd.
regarding your question, I'd rather wait for the new 7er ... If not, I'll pick the BMW 760Li (Non M-Sport).

The color combo on this one is utterly beautiful. If would definitely get one in this exact spec, although I think I'd prefer a new S7. I have to say though, I can't wait to see how the D5 8s are going to look. As long as their styling doesn't head in the direction of the new Q7 then it's for sure going to look excellent.

i would go with the s63 coupe because 1: you didnt say i couldnt pick the coupe, 2: i live in new york city and we get winters so the 4 matic is really practical for me even though quattro is good, and 3: that interior and overall design is sublime, plus i get a better run to 60 mph so highway commutes outside of town will be more fun

The S8 exterior styling destroys the s class, bmw, LS and XJ. The S8 looks like a movie star coming down a road, the large grill with the mean looking headlights all to match a well balanced straight clean body. Videos don’t do it any justice, in person it’s a total difference.

Audi S8, because I prefer the styling to the BMW, the Jaguar XJ has a horrible HMI, and I like my 520HP with AWD please.
Oh and Matrix LED. Which, unfortunately, you aren’t getting in the U.S., because stupid regulations from the 70s (60s?).

a8 3.0 tdi, 258 ps, loads of torque and it's way cheaper to run. but honestly i would rather take the a6 avant tdi, same engine, the interior is also gorgeous and the trunk has more space for dogs and stuff.

I don't really understand your comment. Please explain. I see you're a Porsche guy; I've had a lot of those. What are you driving?
Can you go wrong with any of these cars? The XJ has upped it's game pretty well. BMW 7 and Lexus are too conservative for my taste. This Audi has massage seats, showy B&O stereo, and can backroad blitz or obey the traffic laws in complete comfort, but that grille sucks. The S63 or 65 have superior attention to detail that is noticeable against these very fine cars. Of the Jag, BMW, Audi, or Lexus, I would go with the Audi.
I'd choose the S8 over the other options thrown out for a variety of reasons already mentioned but also the fact that the S8 gets great highway MPG due to cylinder deactivation. I'm not a greenie per say but I do like to save money where I can.
You hit a very important point about industry changing standards that have been put forward by Mercedes. I mean look at the digital dash, no one else has even implemented this into their vehicles and Mercedes have sold thousands of S class vehicles already haha!

S65 amg for sure. Although the engine seems a wee bit dated, v12 and its torque would leave no option for us.
I would go for the lexus, and then use the left over money to buy a proper sports car, since i cant have the merc

The S63 is incredible but if you have money to buy either one you would genuinely have to want an Audi. Me, I would buy the Audi just because I love everything they do as far as performance luxury and design. But if you're just looking for the best luxury vehicle in general it would be the Benz.

I still like my 97 LS400 with 280k on it lol. No problems and just basic maintenance. Toyota/Lexus have the best reliability but the Germans make a nicer and higher performance car no doubt

I would pick the S65 all day long. The interior is miles beyond anything out there but if i had the money and i had to chose two, definitely the S8 as well

Hmmm for a sporty big sedan...XJR long wheelbase in AWD(not made I know). British racing green, tan or darker brown interior (also not an option). Such a beautiful ass and that snarly V8.
The Jag is awesome but the interior is showing some age. The new 7-series is probebly going to be fantastic both inside and outside... Thats, my pic. And yes the S63 is amazing...
