Bought my first encore frame over 20 years ago. Then 20 years ago I bought my first pistol barrel which was a 15" 50 caliber muzzle loader. Practiced 4 times a week and that same year in camp blanding Florida in general gun season I killed a very big 8 pointer with my first encore pistol.I knew this would change my life. I looked straight up into the sky and said out loud....thank you jesus
That's awesome. It shows you are thankful and humble. This guy went straight into a T/C commercial, then evaluated the "trophy" before a gratuitous "thank you buddy" To the buck while his gun was laying on it... I guess I'll never be a sponsored hunter. I prefer your way.
@@DeepOwl1073 in 2004 I killed 3 different bucks in 3 different state and national forests with 3 different encore pistols. All legal and checked and weighed at check stations. The lord gave me something that I could have never imagined. I went down on my knees every time as soon as I climbed down with my tree lounge .the lord put me in a position to meet a Vietnam veteran the very day I shot number 3. I took him hunting and to the shooting range every day possible for 3 years.he passed away after the 3rd season hunting together. I trained him in hunting with a pistol. He eventually killed 2 bucks with my rifles and 2 bucks with my pistols. God gave me something incredible and he wanted me to take a Vietnam veteran sergeant and teach him something very difficult with hunting with handguns. The first buck he killed was with my 30-30 pistol .65 yards from a tree stand and dropped him in his tracks.i instantly knew what I was there for and why
@@randyjohnson6845 the greatest fellowship can indeed be in the fields. That's great you could give some joy and knowledge to a vet. The lord works in wondrous ways. Take care.
@@DeepOwl1073 I'm 100% sure he put me there and to put 100% focus on David hunting. I killed a big 8 pointer in ocala national forest the day I'm met him .it was only a couple days left in the season. The next 3 years I never got close to killing a deer.all my focus was on David.literally I would walk towards his tree stand around lunch time with a footlong sub a quart Gatorade and a box of Marlboros and tie them on his string and he would pull them up.he had several heart attacks before I met him.he could stay in a tree stand longer than he could walk out and back.i dont regret nothing
Just got my first pistol barrel (7mm-08) and hope to put some whitetail on the ground this season
I had a 357 maximum mag made love it
Awesome, love TC pistols
Like shooting fish out of a goldfish bowl? Where can you hunt deer in the middle of the summer? I always thought deer dropped their antlers in the late fall and didn't have a full unvelveted rack until the next fall? I've only been deer hunting for a few years so I've still got a lot to learn I see. Thanks for sharing.
This episode was filmed in the fall last year. We are put up the full uninterrupted hunt.
In Texas it depends on when deer will shed their antlers. We've had them start start shedding from March through May and even June.
If you have any other questions about deer hunting please feel free to ask!
Why do you not leave ammo in the gun
Better length?
I purchased my first Encore in the mid 80's, it's still my favorite.
Not possible. The Thompson Center Encore wasn't made until 1996. You most likely mean the Thompson Center Contender, which was first available in 1967.
@@jerryreynolds8151 No problem. The original Thompson Center firearms are excellent. Too bad Smith and Wesson destroyed the Thompson Center brand.
What round would any of you guys recommend for deer hunting with a Thompson contender?
It's hard to not beat a 308 as a great all around deer hunting round.
Is the Ammo the same as magnum ones
I want it in 44 magnum!!
I use it to hunt vegans at whole foods. Got an 8 point the other day.
What do you need a scope for with the magnifier on your face
What scope are you using
Your accent is really nice
What ammo are you using?
Wth the the TC Encore we used 150 grain Hornady Whitetail load for the 308
Do you really need a .308 at 50 yards?
it just as easy could have been a longer shot for sure. You never know and we've shot everything from a .460 to a 10MM at that or closer distance. The deer is going to be where he wants to be.
I've never heard anyone talk for so long without taking a breath
"308 Win mag" ??!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got a stash of HE 7mm08 rem
I got a stash of HE 308 win.
Still available is the Hornady 308 win target in Sierra hollow point boat talis that generates more speed and energy than a standard 3006 Springfield. HE stands for high energy. That's if you didnt know.
I have got HE 3006 that I really like to hunt with and there loaded federal and have 165 trophy bonded bullets. So yes there are 308 magnum and or HE bullets
I have an encore 45/410 and also a 12 gauge barrel. Don’t like it. Not nearly the gun I thought it was for that much money.
Does deer really taste so good that you’d spend all this time, money and energy on hunting? Seems like it is not an efficient use of your time.
It's more than just the taste it's the whole process of time outdoors, conservation and management aspect and a whole lot of of other factors that drive many to spend that much time outdoors
Have three with several different barrels. Only thing I hunt with. Encore all the way
Same here. Have three many pistol barrel and rifle
