  • “Perfectionist” might be an understatement for highly-attuned surfer and shaper Tyler Warren. From his highly-coveted handshapes to his supremely-refined rail surfing to his incredibly-precise oil paintings, Warren is clearly a man who understands that the devil is in the details, and you won’t find evidence of anything overlooked in his myriad creative pursuits. That’s why Warren was one of the first people we thought of when assembling the crew for our film, “Handmade”, about shaping your own boards. We couldn’t wait to pick his brain about the process, and above you’ll get a taste of that, as well as his beautiful surfing on the 8’0″ egg that he made on the trip.

It's great to see the different generations wanting to learn how to hand shape surfboards. As a hand shaper since 1993, I respect anyone that takes the time to learn the art of hand shaping.

Legend...all my best boards have been handshaped, popouts are hard to fall in love with. Dude in CapeTown called Pierre de Villiers..first guy to surf Dungeons back in the 80s. Proper legend. My best boards have been shaped by him.

This was pretty cool for me!
I've been wanting to shape for a while, based on the cost! I think it's time. Thanks for the inspiration.

I would pay $1300 for that board, if I drove a Tesla. Unfortunately, I'm a basic bitch and I'm going to break the board within a year, so Costco it is!
