This talk was recorded in May, 2015 at the SAND gathering in Italy.
All experience appears in, is known by and, ultimately, is made of Consciousness. Therefore, our knowledge of anything is only as good as our knowledge of Consciousness. But who or what has knowledge or experience of Consciousness? Only Consciousness itself. Consciousness knows itself as ever-present and without limits, that is, eternal and infinite. It knows itself in itself, as itself, by itself. Everything appears in accordance with our understanding
of Consciousness. Thus, to know the true nature of anything - such as the mind, the body or the world - it is first necessary to know the nature of Consciousness itself. That is why all the great spiritual and philosophical traditions state that in order to know the ultimate reality of the universe, one must first know the nature of oneself. For this reason, the science of Consciousness is the ultimate science, and it is one that humanity can no longer
afford to ignore. Once we have realized the eternal, infinite nature of Consciousness, all experience - that is, the mind, the body and the world - is discovered to be a modulation or vibration of Consciousness alone. ~ Rupert Spira

This video is my zen! Rupert Spira is an eloquent orator and able to explain the Nature of Consciousness for anyone to understand with clarity and ease. Enjoy transcending the levels of consciousness with this gifted spiritual philosopher.
I watched this video about 5 years ago as a 15 year old and my understanding of reality fundamentally shifted. Even to this day, my understanding deepens. I am quite certain that this process will continue until the end of “my” life.

Rupert Spira is a spiritual teacher unlike any I encountered in my life. Just watching a few hours of his presentations on UA-cam, is equivalent to years or decades of insights from dozens of spiritual texts. He is not just satisfied with presenting his wisdom but takes an extra loving effort to answer questions that we can verify within our experience now.
He is an example for us all.
I used his practice yesterday and found amazing results interpersonally.

1. Treat others as you would treat yourself because you are literally the same infinite consiousncess and that separation is an illusion.
2. Getting to know another deeply is simply getting to know a different part/aspect of yourself that you have not yet experienced. In doing so, you will also be getting to know your precieved self better.
3. Don't be afraid to merge souls with or sacrifice yourself for others whom you deem worthy, as that is literally brining you closer to your essence.
4. Realize that anger, jealousy, fear and doubt have no place in a relationship based on unconditional love. If you are feeling these things, you must take a deep look at yourself and motivations for being in said relationship.
5. Don't blame your shortcoming in life or relationships on others, as you are the universe in essence, you are always somewhat complicit in your failures. There is no growth in blame or playing victim. Take note of your percentage of blame for failure, learn from it and allow room for your soul to grow so as not to let said failure repeat itself. Wisdom comes through experiencing both the good and the bad (remember that)
* Obviously, if you have childhood or life traumas that prevent you from loving yourself, then you would first need to seek therapy before any of this will manifest.

I’ve been reading Ksemaraja and Abhinavagupta over quarantine and as much as I’ve enjoyed doing so, it is so refreshing to hear these ideas stripped down to their essence and coming from a cultural context that is closer to my own.

This is a very interesting talk, but I can't help thinking if our experience/awareness is the medium of reality, we're in trouble! Human experience is very limited (for example visible light is only a fraction of all wavelengths); we cannot experience the universe, as he says, but we also cannot experience mathematics, yet mathematics are definitely a way by which the universe can be known...so while interesting, a lot of things don't jive for me...

I'm not sure I'm convinced of this but since the death of my father I have begun to remember my dreams with amazing clarity every morning and I have noticed that within those dreams I am often in a cycle of different dimensions as different characters or entity's and just before I wake up to come back in to this life on earth I always feel and hear myself saying please God no I don't want to go back into that. I should add I'm living under some very negative circumstances hence why I'm looking into conciousness but I'm still fairly convinced we are all meat computers intombed in our own heads.
I'm with you and many others who think the same. About 5 years ago I learnt about NDE's and looked into the "Soul Trap" YT channels and got a shock with the information! That's why I'm deeply into Non-Duality to figure out how this matrix works and how to get of it out once and for all. I believe the secret is to understand what you truly are as divinity as opposed to who you think you are as a finite person. Hope things get better for you

As far as the question from the audience member who accuses the brain of being the problem, the brain is neutral like every other organ in the body. It is innocent and it knows nothing of the Mind or the imagination, but like Rupert said there is simply a correlation in the brain where it is involved in the process of thought but in a purely impersonal way, the way the liver processes the blood and lymph that run through it. But the liver doesn't "imagine" itself to be diseased or insane, it is simply functioning properly or not, and we don't pay attention to it the way we do to our "brains", which are simply Arbiters of thoughts that come from what we think of as the Mind. What I am trying to say is most of our brains are entirely healthy like every other organ of the body. The brain is also responsible for so many different functions throughout the body in addition to processing thought and what we consider our darkest most distressing thoughts may be more like pesky mosquitoes to the brain rather than some terrible defect generated by the brain itself. If crazy thoughts are evidence that the organ of the brain itself was defective it would make sense that many other functions of the body that are influenced by the brain would go Haywire also. But this is of course not true. Even so-called crazy people function very well as an organism on many levels. What people perceive as so distressing and disturbing in thought is the result of imagination and belief, not faulty brain tissue. How else can you explain that even regular people can feel crazy one day and fine the next. Or you might go through months or even years of deep depression and then come out of it and feel fantastic!

I can vouch for this. Diagnosed insane, no hopes given, news broke both my parents to tears. Now 15-20 years later I feel cured and can’t recall what my previous problems were. Time actually does heal! Or, is there time? 😉
The main focus of my work right now is to detox people from stuff like heavy metals, industrial chemicals that are found in Foods, medications, and cosmetics, environmental toxins like mold and air and water pollution. I feel like this is a huge crisis right now, the elephant in the room, the individual toxic cumulative load that each person carries and only grows bigger every day. It is in many ways more threatening than climate change. I swear to God it is easier to wake up from thought and Trauma right now than it is to overcome for instance a side of your mouth that is full of metal as a starting point for everything else you have to endure!

Mushrooms blows my mind up, Rupert does the excavation work and is such a blessing to hear this. And if you think about what he is saying and HEAR . My god this is so profound. Everything is consciousness? I’m reeling from this knowing. I can hardly believe I believe this.
The first time I took mushrooms I had the experience of time becoming non existent, I felt like no time had passed since I was a little kid. It was really unique and I couldn't stop laughing, the kind of laugh that made me cry with delight and epiphany. I kept saying wow, I cannot believe this, looking at my ape like hands. They are a wonderful tool and am looking forward to trying them again soon! Take care, Peace 👍

Devendra Tak sane here on watching a lot of his stuff. Mind blown countless times prior. 49 minutes in and I’m like “Holy...”- he’s just amazing in being able to articulate all this but this video is like a compilation of everything he’s done to date and concentrated into this one.
Ahh...if anything did occur outside of consciousness, we wouldn't know about it would we... Come on. All he is saying is that " we perceive what we perceive". No duh.

This is a simple truth. If you were looking for some juicy, out of world enlightenment stuff, then sorry.

I see at least two problems with his teachings:
- 99 percent of Janes on the streets of New York will never ask these profound questions.
- We can very well argue that the physical world is an illusion or a dream of the universal consciousness, but we all want it to be REALLY real, because without REAL trees producing REAL oxygen any philosophical discussion will quickly disintegrate into a REAL fight for the last breath of fresh air. I find it to be a smashing argument for the reality of this world and life.
Just wanted to throw it out there Rupert 😂 that I live high above Loch Ness and I once saw something down there that was completely inexplicable!! ❤

Summed up best by a brief passage from the 1950s by Avatar Meher Baba:
The Lover and The Beloved
God is love. And love must love.
And to love there must be a Beloved.

A true masterpiece does not tell everything.
1:14:44 In my own experience of myself, I am eternally present. I have no limits, and thus I am infinite. I cannot be disturbed, and this I am peace itself. I cannot be grandiose or diminished by any appearance of the world and thus I am fulfilled. I know no other, and therefore love itself. I am no object and then this beauty itself. That is what awareness has to say about itself. I have no age, because I do not appear in time. I cannot be touched or moved or harmed.
All of life, all of this, just a coloring. Nothing leaves a stain or trace on awareness. Life is a temporary coloring, of eternity, of this dimension this presence of eternity. Which shines in this knowledge of I am. Felt in our hearts as peace happiness love. Shines in our perceptions as beauty.

this is really enlightening. the first step towards recognizing what we all are
Also, Ruperts pointers " Am I aware?" and "I am aware that I am aware" are not introducing awake consciousness at all,. It is simply self consciousness or the human psychological stage that develops in us as children at 1 1/2 to 3 years old , in fact the academic term is "self awareness" so this is stoping half way in a cul de sac and calling it awakening, which is not the case.
Amazing! I can grasp the understanding right now, but may have to watch numerous numerous times for consciousness, I AM, to automatically accept matter does not really exist. Talk about deep thinking!

Unfortunately and respectfully it is true and correct that all current contemporary Spiritual and philosophical traditions have done a very poor effort to confidently clarify elucidate and explain both incorporeal and corporeal omniscience omnipresence and omnipotence related to God's divine attributes from origin with God being the first primary model of a loving "parent" centered on the highest unique creations that of a developing male to become a mature man and developing female to grow into the maturity of all subsequent women and womanhood multiplying God's life vibrations and energy with God's governing attributes and likeness processing pulsating communicating in every cell non-stop and living inside the first couple with God's absolute unchanging eternal unique lasting love rooted from origin including and acknowledging God as a God of emotion intellect feeling heart and will with "vision and purpose" for the first male and female couple responsibly reaching the standards of "maturity through their own unique spirit heart mind and physical form in both male and female form" respectfully as unique individuals permeated throughout with the likes of God's unchanging attributes a monopoly only God uniquely has over all of his creations of resultant existence permeated with unchanging love truth beauty goodness law and order this would be knowing one's unique self in consciousness with God being recognized as the first mathematical scientist throughout the ranks of all creation throughout the universe as we know it.The expectation of all spiritual intelligence awaits the arrival of the Maitreya the Great One the Budhisattva the Chosen One the Messiah; Upon the arrival, Christ will not communicate recite nor will they share content of what we are already familiar with or currently know; instead God's chosen one may not even be "one" but instead a redeemed couple who have restored the premature immature blunderous fallout as the first intended couple meant to be governed with God's vision of absolute eternal unchanging unique consciousness different from the version of consciousness expressed through broken men women and children.
