Hi Beata. Hi community. I afire your videos, truly very well done! Here is my intuitive input on the phoenix wand, in addition, not negation, if what has already been offered. In this card, Phönix and lotus are in a position of “learning”. About who they are, they’re place in the scheme of things, what power they hold, what power “others” hold, you name it. The whole nine yards. So the “little wings” might stand for the stage of “development,” or learning, to become (at least self-aware) rather than already being the one “teaching”. (And who is the teacher but life itself??) When you are still “learning”, not fully developed, you do live in a world where “snakes may and/or must be caught”. Both to protect yourself, as well as to “hunt” or “catch” your own lessons. You need to learn to self-initiate learning. While you haven’t yet, snakes will bite you to reach you. Then you learn to fend them off. Next you learn to seek them. And then you learn your wisdom from them. (That they are but another expression of you/the divine and you pose no threat to each other.) In the world of the fully developed, “danger” disappears. You need to fend off any danger nor protect yourself. You understand who you are and “danger” or “threat” can no longer exist in your presence. Those little …. whatever’s they are turn into “wings” - “Mastery”. (Also: “just a thought”. 😄)
You do an excellent job of exploring the Thoth deck in this series - very well done! I do not have a concrete answer or citation about the “feet” on the Phoenix wands… However, I have an intuitive idea about it. I am wondering if maybe they are “wings” signifying the different stages of the Phoenix’s life/death cycle. As we know, the Phoenix rises from the ashes. I notice that these “wings” seem to appear when the wands are facing a more “destructive” aspect of the cycle. As you mention, the feet/wings are not there when the Phoenix is in the 6 of wands - at the peak of life. In this card, perhaps the “wings”/feet signifies the potential for rebirth - the transformative aspect that can arise out of strife and conflict. Just an idea :-)
Back again! I got this card for Monday. I pulled 2 oracles with it, one being the Lenormand snake which is interesting in light of what you discovered about the little prongs on the end of the staffs.
I may have missed some but I found the Phoenix wand on the following cards Magus, Moon, Aeon, Prince of Wands, and the 5,6,7, of wands. All of the cards had the curve on the end except the 6 of wands. Maybe there is a clue in the fact that the 6 of wands doesn’t have one. Maybe the Victory signifies there is no need for one?
Re 5 of Wands ; Beata, I liked your treatment of the card very much. Regarding the three kinds of wand shown on the card. The Lotus wand might indicate the power/energy of the Goddess Isis; I have seen it suggested that the Phoenix wand represents the Set animal. This is usually shown with a forked tail. The symbolic juxtaposition of Isis and Set might represent the Primal Conflict of Masculine (rather than male) and Feminine (rather than female) forces. The wand of the Chief adept, as you say, being the harmonising, higher influence. Another thought, the shape at the bottom of the Phoenix wands is (to me anyway) reminiscent of the astrological symbol for Leo. This may be a reference to Crowley's rising sign, it may also (via the attribution of Leo to the Lust card) be a pointer to the Serpent power of Kundalini - this would also resonate with your observation that the fork might have been used to trap snakes. Worth noting also that the hebreq letter attributed to the 18th Path (Leo / Lust) is Teth - a serpent. Thsi might also resonate with the sterner aspects of the Feminine via Sekhmet - Lioness. Thank you so much for the video.

The tradition of signing your deck happens in the 2 of coins in marseille decks, interesting that he went with the ace.
Thank you
Gerd B. Ziegler talks about wings of the phoenix. They will help lift the weight of the situation. Maybe that helps... ✨
Thank you for this amazing Thoth tutorial!!

"The forked lower end representing the feet of the Ibis." - THE PHOENIX WAND CONSECRATION RITUAL
Thanks! This makes so much sense, Ibises catch and eat snakes so it matches the information that I found about it as well!

Great insight, thanks for sharing!
Regarding the Phoenix wands, I think they are representative if the staff that the Egyptian God, Thoth is seen carrying in images of Thoth.
