The original Raising Canes is just a few miles from my home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, near LSU. I love their chicken, bread and especially their sauce. I eat it a couple of times a month. The decision to have a limited menu was a wise decision allowing quality food (cooked fresh) and relatively fast service. Glad you liked it.
I just experienced the total eclipse, life changed , time for coleslaw and a nap
Haha what a perfect day!
So, standing in the dark makes us both hungry and tired.
I feel exactly the same way about coleslaw as you do. i was yelling "Diane, don't do it"! You did anyway. You are very brave. Keep up the great work!
You're so brave, Diane!! We appreciate what you do for us 😂
Personally, I love coleslaw; but it's not hard for me to imagine why someone might hate it.
I love seeing your trip to Chicago! Thanks for sharing with us 💜💜
I have to see a specialist an hour from where I live and that city has the closest Kanes. Every time I get out of the doctor’s office, I have my husband take me to Kanes, even though there’s a ton of other restaurants in the city. It’s my treat for having my eyes poked, taken pictures of, and a ton of drops put in them.
I don’t think I’ve ever commented on someone’s nails before but I love the metallic nail polish.
Raising Cane's only uses fresh chicken. The sauce is basically a "fry sauce" from the Pacific NorthWest. When the founder had the idea and presented it in his business class, the professor told him he would never find funding for a chick finger restaurant. And he didn't, so he went fishing for salmon in Alaska for a few years to raise enough money to open the first one in his home town of Baton Rouge.
It's probably the only place you've tried that's younger than you are.
So glad You liked this place Diane!! I love it and if you ever come back, I would certainly join you there❤️
Raising Cane's is quality over quantity of options.
They know how to do a few things very well.
We have them all over the place where I live . It is quality, but you can only do so much with chicken. I find that Popeyes Mardi gras sauce is better to me, and their chicken strips are equal. Popeyes being a little less expensive.
@@kurtsaxton823 I prefer Cane's, but your right about the price.
I used to get a Caniac combo for 10 dollars, now it's almost 20.
@@dominickthornburghakaTRG don't get me wrong I still eat canes, it is definitely fresh you always get it hot, and I know Diane won't appreciate this but I like their coleslaw.
I'm sorry you weren't able to visit the Bean since it's usually the most popular attraction in Millennium Park in Chicago. But you should have visited Harold's Chicken Shack. It's generally considered a local hole-in-the-wall joint, but there's a restaurant just south of the Loop on Wabash Avenue that has great chicken. 🍗😋
Chicago videos aren’t over yet 😉
People didn’t tell you that you can substitute extra fries or bread for the slaw. I usually get extra bread and make a chicken sandwich with it.
Noice. I think slaw is just like vegetables and mayo? A lot of ppl don't like mayo so maybe that's it. Cane's sauce/Zaxby's/whatev is also i think just padded out worscestshire sauce. Holy shit i spelled that correctly the first time? Or autocorrect is like idk neither bruh
LOL I laughed so hard at the comment of what coleslaw reminds you of!! I like coleslaw, some more than other places. Good job trying a little.
Glad you enjoyed!
When I go to Cane’s, they always ask if I want to substitute the coke slaw, so it’s pretty common for folks to get double bread or fries.
Coke slaw 😅
Coke slaw?
Thanks for doing it for me Diane!
When I was a child I had a similar reaction to cole slaw. It's something I've grown to enjoy as an adult. I didn't like green beans, peas, or broccoli as a kid either. I like all those now. Good on yer mum for liking cole slaw.
Cane's sauce is sooooo good. Diane, it's like a remoulade, which is a sauce that is usually served with crab cakes. Creamy and spicy and generally yummy
For fried food, Cane's is about as clean and less greasy than any other fried chicken
Cane's has a vary unique start-up story. They started in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Short, but that's ok. Glad you liked it!
I'm not a fan of spicy stuff, but the sauce is pretty good and not too spicy for me.
That’s good
The sauce is for the chicken!!! I mean, you can dip the fries and bread in it too...but you need to dip the chicken tenders in the sauce. BTW. What makes Canes stand out amongst it's peers is they only use fresh tenderloins which have been soaked in buttermilk.
Chicago is a city where I want to go. I am the guy in Colorado.
I usually go to Los Angeles and Las Vegas for my vacation.
You know you are pretty safe in cities here. During the day.
You seem like you would be fun to chat with over coffee or lunch. I am glad you get to explore our country.
Mmmmmm chicken 🤤 I don't think we have them here (yet?) -- Can't wait to try Cane's one day! Thanks Diane!
The guy on the bus story, you are not cruel AT ALL…😉👍🏼and you are to smooth! 😊
Tiny ketchup..ooo wow-toast…little cup!! ❤❤that’s as smooth as is ever needed!
The bean exists in New York now too wedged under a building. It’s an art project that is just done because it can be. I think the bean in Chicago was closed because of construction or pure out ice. The ground freezes a lot there and it gets really slippery.
you are right about cole slaw. its what we put in meals to pretend we arent eating massive amounts of meat and carbs (potatoes or bread).
Diane, have you seen the movie "Brooklyn" with Sioarse Ronan? I'd love to see you react to it, or hear your take on it!
This is one of my all-time favorite movies, and made me a true believer that Siorse Ronan is one top level actress destined for even more greatness (although I haven't seen much of her in the media lately). "Brooklyn" is the first movie she did with an authentic Irish accent (the first Ronan movie I saw made me think she was a very young American actress), although it WASN'T her own dialect of an Irish accent.
Coleslaw can very greatly from place to place. Growing up I felt most locations did a poor job of making it and it was often uneatable ... but then I was at cheap places as a kid. But when finding good coleslaw it is a nice surprise. Usually fast food is NOT the location for such a discovery.
The bean open and all open the summer.
Complaining about coleslaw while in the U.S. is about as valid as me complaining about haggis in Scotland or drisheen in Eire. Taste is subjective. Good video even though ranting about the lack of flavor, freshness & menu choices in large corporate franchises is old hat. Diane as always is easy on the eyes & that brogue is killer!😉💯
If you were at Millenium Park, I really hope you went to the world class art museum just up the street.
My grandpa used to make Coleslaw with diced apples and dehydrated cherries! 10/10 would recommend 👌
Gotta find someone that looks at me the way Diane looks at a container of coleslaw!
"I don't care if you live or ***" 🤣🤣🤣
Diane, Your a great artist I like all the Art Work You have made on Your Merch.
Raising Caine's is great. They only do the one thing, but they do it just about perfectly.
As long as it is fresh and not to sweet, I LOVE coleslaw! There are so many varieties out there, I'm sure Diane would like at least ONE of them!
Right before that video, I saw an advertisement for little dogs (like Chewy) food... The UA-cam algorithmn works...🤔🤣🤣🤣
Aww 🥰
Years ago I had coleslaw at Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous in Memphis and I thought it was great. It had a slight kick to it. I think it's mustard based instead of mayonnaise. Maybe that's what made it yum.
Ooh that’s a bit better indeed
Celery seed?
If you’re still in Chicago … you have to eat a Jibarito at Borenquen restaurant! Do it !!!! 🔥❤️🤤
I’ve never been to Raising Canes but they seem to have cracked the code of deliver what people want with consistency
They borrowed in-n-out's model, but for chicken. Also another fun fact is in-n-out created the first drive thru with an intercom.
I'll take your cole slaw. My mom (of Irish ancestry) makes the best cole slaw in the known universe.
You can keep the fries. Sharing is caring.
Of the three Irish youtubers I watch, you're the only one I'm subscribed to. I don't know if the other two like coleslaw, but what's wrong with coleslaw? It's awesome
Glad you enjoyed it. I've never been to one myself, since there are no Raising Cane's in my area. I'll definitely check them out if I ever see one on my travels.
For sure! Do you have to be in the mood for chicken tenders, of course
They're headquarted in Baton Rouge Louisiana. Typically the further South you go the more you find.
We don't have any in the southeast though.. @@coldwar45
Dianeeee! You look like you've been working out. How dare you try to make us look bad 😂
Hi Diane! Looks like you met The Global Stalker!
I also don't like coleslaw, but I found a way to make it that's pretty good. To the shredded cabbage and other veggies, add ranch dressing and minced onion, garlic and red pepper. It's much better than that sickeningly sweet crap that it's usually made with.
If you ever come to North Carolina, you will need to try our barbeque slaw especially the ones that are a bit peppery. Stamey's BBQ in Greensboro has some of the spicier slaw.
Thanks for trying the Cole slaw for us. Thanks even more for the looks of horror just before trying it!
Hello Diane . . . . . . i think you might possibly change your mind about cole slaw if you ever get a chance to to have it on top of a smoked pulled pork sandwich with a dab or two of barbecue sauce on top of the slaw . . . . . . add some french fries or potato chips on the side, and you will have a dangerously delicious plate of food!!!!!!!!!!! . . . . take care and stay warm . . . . . . .
Danny in Mississippi
Eat it, it’s good for you. They never give me enough.😊
Love Canes sauce!
Also love slaw!
Their bread is good too.
I really liked their chicken when I tried it. It seemed so flavorful, & as you mentioned not as greasy as some. Been awhile so idk if it's changed or not 😆 but anytime we go past their location nearest us, the drive through is pretty packed
Happy Monday!!! I really love this video. Have a great week.
Thank you! You too!
You can also substitute the cole slaw for an extra sauce. You should get butter both sides (BBS) to have both sides of the toast...toasted.
I love Raising Cane’s but I prefer Zaxby’s. People are divided on this, but that’s my preference. Instead of coleslaw, I usually get extra fries and of course I always get extra sauce at both places. I wish they’d bottle and sell the sauces since I have to drive 30 - 45 minutes for either of the restaurants.
I ate at Canes one time and suddenly became a Chick Filet fan for life.....
Their chicken is definitely fresh, good quality, along with the unbeatable sauce. Their chicken sandwiches are premium too, it's too bad you didn't get a chance to try one. I always bring it home and add extra lettuce and tomato and it's KILLER (the bun they use is very delicious)
I never had this before but thanks for the review
Ok I love ❤️ canes chicken!! And the sauce and the toast with the sauce and the fries..with the sauce
Ambrosia is what the gods eat when they run out of cole slaw ! 😮
Good to see my favorite Irish youtuber raising a little cane out there. it had to be done.
What in the world is going on in Millennium Park? I used to work in the Aon Center that you see in the background (formerly Standard Oil, formerly Amoco Oil). I was working there on 9/11 and you can imagine the freak outs happening because that building is tall, a clone of the former Twin Towers and the airspace is completely clear from the lake. Anyway...
Millennium Park was the designated meeting place when building evacuation drills were run after 9/11. Maybe those drills are over now.
Totally agree about coleslaw😂
Diane. So, were you ever a runner-up for miss Ireland? You have to be the most beautiful Irish girl out there...
Cole Slaw can be made wrong; especially up north, so do give it a try at other locations until you find the right one.
Hmmm… I’m sure you’re right, but I don’t like cabbage or mayonnaise so it’s not a great start 😂
So you don't like Sauerkraut either? 🤔🤣
@@DianeJenningsthere is a vinegar based coleslaw instead of mayo.
@@martinkasper197I have learned to like coleslaw but not sauerkraut. Ever
@@byronland5102 As it's usual in 🇩🇪. With vinegar, oil, salt and sometimes caraway..🤓🤣
I'm an adult I'm an adult. Too funny.
Here I was thinking I should get some Cane's for lunch tomorrow.
I substitute more fries for the coleslaw. I like potatoes.
Get 2 raising cane sauces and then go to Chick-fil-A and get their fingers. It's bomb.
I've never heard of Raising Canes . I guess I should try it sometime.
Today is Empanada Day. Baked or Fried they are very good. You can add almost any filling to Empanadas. Beef, Chicken and Pork are common. More Good Ideas for a good Empanada is a Pizza Empanada, Burrito Empanada, BBQ Epanada, Chicken Nugget Salad Empanada and Chocolate Dessert Empanada.
I hated coleslaw as a child. 😝
Now, I love it if it's done right. 😋
Next, try Raising Lazarus!
Don’t know how anyone can mess up coleslaw but Raising Canes did it ! It is a a well known fact that you never get the slaw always get extra bread and it blows my mind that they have never fixed the slaw considering they get mocked on the internet !
Daine, have you ever lightly sprinkled coleslaw with cinnamon?
It changes the taste enough to make it almost something else, kinda like a dessert.
Anyone else notice flashes of Editor Diane's face during the coleslaw tasting fiasco?
Cole Slaw is part of our Herritage.
neverer heared of canes, though...
Hi Diane! Hope that you're doing well today. I have never had "Raising Cane's" before. I have heard mixed opinions about this place. I'm kind of partial to coleslaw myself. I do appreciate you for going out of your way to try it out and then having an opinion about it. Glad you got a chance to try this place out. Have a great week Diane. Thanks for sharing your experience with us always. 👋😎🎉🎊
Thank you! You too!
I didn't like it when I was younger but somewhere in my thirties or forties I started eating it @@DianeJennings
Love your videos
Diane, I eat at Raising Canes about once a month. I normally get the Box Combo. Sometimes I order an extra coleslaw with it!!! I really like their coleslaw. Have a great week. 🙂
Great tip!
Ok, here's the trick to RC, always ask for extra crispy chicken and fries. Oh yeah and extra Cane's sauce and maybe an Arnold Palmer.
I don’t know anyone who eats the coleslaw at Cane’s. I’m an extra toast person, but lots of people are extra fries or sauce.
Since this Irish Lass is such a sweet kind person on this earth, myself lets the commercials play and avoids "skip" least could be done for a gem from The Emerald Isle.
Oh thank you muchly! I do understand if you skip. The ads can get very tedious. If it helps, I don’t really think I’m that great 😆
@@DianeJennings Your welcome being a person who shares experiences as you do with the public reminding some about good people who are young people is wonderful . Written by an old man

Love Love Love CANES!! I’ll catch up on the video after work. I know it’ll be more entertaining than the eclipse I could barely see through the cloud cover earlier today.
Ah boo! Apparently we get a partial one in 10 days here
We were supposed to have cloudy skies starting 1 hour before the eclipse, but we actually had a bright, sunny day, and we were all able to see it! Lots of instructors left their kids out early so that they could go see it and the school handed out the appropriate eyewear
love you Diane!
Thanks, Diane!! Hope you and yer sinuses are well! Caught me off guard for a moment, but you did actually try the coleslaw! It's a good thing deep fried potatoes are also vegetables, and ketchup is made from tomatoes!
Absolutely! Part of your five a day 😉
I like to keep you on your toes
This is a place I've never been to before, but I think there is one under construction around the corner from here. It is dark when I drive by it in the morning. I was really expecting that cup to spill. The lid look precarious. Thanks Diane
It’s very nearly did 😆 🥤
I love coleslaw. I've had bad ones before so you need to find the right one.
You ate the coleslaw. I gotta see this
you should have dipped the bread in the sauce.. the cane's sauce is amazing on everything! I dip everything in it. They'll actually give you a large cup of sauce if you ask for it!
I substitute an extra toast in place of the cole slaw and order extra sauce so I have enough for the chicken and the fries. The Caniac Combo for me.
I haven't had Raising Cane's yet. They have a location in the Twin Cities as far as I know but I haven't went over there and tried it out yet. So I don't know what they're like so I don't have an opinion on them. Thank you again for another great video.
Highly recommend. It’s a simple menu, but the food is good… Apart from the coleslaw.
I don't know where you are from the Cities but there's one in St. Cloud on Division St. Haven't been there myself because of all the Kwik Trips.
Sorry, sorry I'm sure it's lovely 😂😂
Hey Diane how was your weekend. I sent you another meme.
Did you hear about the sheep who robbed a liquor store. He’s on the lamb now
That was a baaaad joke! 😂
Teehee! Yes, I saw it. Very good thank you.
This sounds like an inappropriate relationship.
That joke tickled me quite a bit more than it should have. 😂😂😂

Hi Diane. I love the way you hid your true feelings about coleslaw.
ITS SO FUNNY UR IRISH FFS LOL!!!!!
The best thing I can recommend for the coleslaw is get hot sauce and put that in it. It really makes it crazy good.
I love coleslaw and this is blowing my mind
Dear sweet Diane, experience notwithstanding, please know that you're not obligated to disgust yourself on behalf of us who love you. :)
Raising Cane's is great..And though I love their coleslaw, I do usually swap it out for extra fries..
hugs =)
Thanks Diane! Just got home from watching the eclipse so missed the FHC. The food looked really good. We have Raising Cane’s in Canada yet, but supposedly some are being built in Ontario this summer.
I dont understand people who dont like coleslaw. I could eat that stuff by the bucket if its made right.
