- Ride along the 4x4 trip to the communications site on the top of Mt Benson overlooking Nanaimo, BC.
It's a long slow steep climb up a road I've nicknamed "the gizzard grinder".
The camera doesn't do the steep angle of the last half of this road justice. - Розваги
I've been up Mt. BENSON 5 times since living in Nanaimo for 7 years now. Hope to go up there again in the Summer. Love it.
What's in the little hut beside the tower? Also how is the tower getting its power? Is it on the grid?
Those are shipping containers converted in to buildings. They house all the equipment. The site is powered by diesel generator.
@@KamAbbott oh ok, what frequencies are being transmitted? And what's the power being produced?

@@hfkvancouver sick, thanks. One more question, is there a site where I can find this information?
Same?
We are forever trying to find a road up there
Look for the a tree that has a red triangle spray painted on it. That's the access point to the mt. Benson summit road.
@@islandguy9380 hey island guy how far up Nanaimo lakes road do you have to go?
It’s bit more difficult to find now that they logged up there. The gate is locked too, has been for some time, there was trails around it, I was going to take my 4Runner around it but it’s slippery and if you slide down, your going for a ride! If gates open, it’s not too difficult, I have lockers, open diffs may have a tougher time close to the top, loose.
Could you take a road legal enduro bike up this road? Or would I be fighting loggers? I’m a lover not a fighter..a lover of nature not loggers, cause I’m married and no longer in university. 😢
Is this road accessable to the public ?
How’d ya get passed the gate?
No it's not
