- Both Napoleon and Hitler tried to conquer Russian empire / Soviet Union at different times, but both faced the same fate - defeat on the Russian soil. Although the way both armies were defeated were different, and Napoleon did manage to capture Moscow, but the end result for both Napoleon and Hitler was the same - their careers finished as a direct result of their Russian campaigns. In this video, I have explained, in Hindi, why both Napoleon and Hitler failed in their respective Russian campaigns, the similarities in how both campaigns were conducted, and why Hitler didn't learn anything from Napoleon's mistakes.

Apart of Winter… the willingness of Russian army to put endless supply of men into the war and the willingness to sustain more pain, more misery than the enemy army are main reasons of Russian Victory… This hasn’t changed much, they are sending countless men in Ukraine war and hopefully will prevail there too.
Russians have faught bravery even if they knew they will loose the war..
Not only the russian people but it’s motherland and harsh climatic conditions gives a barrier or security to russians..
Their main towns and cities like Moscow and St. pitersberg are strategically located..
WW1 and WW2 is a reason of huge gap in russian sex ratio..
Russia lost immense men power in both the world wars and came victorious..
Even after the collapse of USSR you can’t underestimate and neglect the great empire and nation like Russia..🇷🇺

Almost same thing happened with Pakistan army in 1971. The freedom fighters only followed hit and run tactics at beginning. When pak army retreat they were pushed further inside village and jungles and islands in rivers. As the rain begins the launched huge guerrilla wars on Pakistan Army camps. Those attacks were devastating for them. When end of November came the northern Indian border with China were covered in snow. Which eliminated any chance of invasion from China. Then India moved in with their army and airforce. By that time Pakistan were already in supply crisis, at last Pakistan surrendered with 93000.

I understand that it's difficult to explain all the nuances in only a 20 minute video but it's important to note that Hitler's generals actually did study Napoleon's failed invasion a lot. They took months to devise the grand strategy and they correctly attributed Napoleon's failure to be due to the impossible logistics of 1800s but incorrectly thought that it could be solved with modern (1940s) logistical support.
Perhaps, they should have copied Napoleon and just gone all out at Moscow in a single front, instead of the three army fronts. Moscow after all, held far more significance under Stalin than it did under Tsar Alexander. Like you show in your timeline, their Moscow offensive was delayed by at least 2-3 months compared to Napoleon's timeline - this allowed the Eastern Soviet reserves to get there in time and finish off the shocked Germans.
Friends of mine fought in Afghanistan as US paratroopers and according to them most of their own platoon casualties were not from the Taliban but from the freezing cold weather and things that freezing weather causes such as disease, and dyhadration.

One question: Why didn't Nepolean made a strong hold of the areas he conquered he could've waited there for an year and called for a backup from home and allies especially sweden. Why was Napoleon so desperate to conquer it in one day or am i missing something
Territorial area of Russia was very large, winter was very severe, technological advancement in Russia had taken place, when compared to time of mongols and Vikings, supply line of Napoleon and Hitler both were reducing with passing days, Russian were able to make fresh recruitment.

To supply vast armies with the wherewithal like food clothing winter clothing fuel for tanks, lorries and every soldier for cooking, for horses also fodder, if you dont have adequate supplies for your troops and machinery then youre basically sending your troops ona one way ticket, thats what Napoleon and Hitler did with their armies

Moral of the story. Don't underestimate with Russia
The stategic depth of a nation is important while defending you country. You options of using man and machines multiply manyfold when you nation is huge continent size. Also whether play important role in those -30 few can fight though most can survive . Also the population density is very less so for getting resources to capture the entire land mass becomes highly problematic. Also the cost of keeping the supply line would be resource intwnsive and prohibitively expensive . It goes well till you are winning small battles taking town after towns or cities after cities. But the trouble mounrs when you start losing battles you quickly end up losing the war . Even in todays scenario they have lethal combination of strategic depth and long range weapons.
