THE ORGAN OF BLOOMSBURY CENTRAL BAPTIST CHURCH
Shaftesbury Avenue, London UK

Masterfully changing the pistons and yet maintaining the structure of the piece flawlessly. What a player!!
They are called stops, not pistons. Just sayin'.
@Jarek Wrzosek Pistons are connected to the stops as well. Just saying
@@jarekwrzosek2048 Pistons change multiple stops. Can't see them here because of the camera angle and the lighting, but there are numbered buttons on the face of each manual. They are preset by the player before the performance.
Love this piece - reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's television program of the 1950's. You don't hear this often. Great job!
recognized it instantanly :-)
Good evening.....
the organ is a very underrated instrument imo
the gliss on the pedal board is very fancy. And well caught by Tom.
That was my last piano recital piece.....YEARS ago. Got my teacher to special order the sheet music. LOVED playing it at the recital and I knew everybody would recognize it,
Bravo!
I live very near this church, first time I have heard the organ being played in the church. Keep up the good work of ensuring that church organs are played.
I thought I was the only one who enjoyed this magnificent piece of musical art.
Delighted to see that baptist do organs also. Wonderful playing and filming on a hugely scaled battleship Binns - and all the rest of that style of organ builder. I'm sure its an organ you can't hide any mistakes in (not that you made any).
Great popular piece, that keeps haunting me over, and over, and over again in my mind. Bravo.
It keeps haunting you all over again
Awesome
Delightful! In these times of darkness, I found this piece refreshing; and, of course, your virtuosic rendition was amazing! Bellmore, NY USA
Brilliant!
Superb. Wonderful.
This man had do it all over again to get the JoJ.
100% *unsatisfied*
'Brilliant' doesn't come close, as a description of this performance.
I have only ever heard the main theme of this piece, so it's very interesting to hear the rest of it.
Many thanks!
What a performance ! Gounod serait très fier.
Love it! Thank you Scott Brothers
I have LOVED this piece ever since
Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
Great Organ music Jonathan, it's very moving and enjoyable.
As usual, great performance. The organ fascinates me in that having such a polyglot history the voices work together so well. The specification gives the organist excellent scope for "orchestral" interpretation, a quality which Jonathan demonstrates so ably. For my taste, I wish the church had a more reverberant acoustic but others may well disagree (and you can't really do much about it without resorting to electronics - most undesirable!). As always, thank you both.
it was perfectly clear that performance is lovely!
stunning as all your videos are. They are very good for showing a lay person how an organ is played, close up and personal. Best wishes from North Yorkshire
It was a privilege to hear you both perform at Bloomsbury - and thank you for this wonderful recording. I also love the illustration of the church behind the final credits!
Superb! But, oh, why hasn't anyone put a proper animation with this delightful song. The images of Marionettes taking a fellow marionette off to the grave would be amazing. It could be oh so Edgar Allen Poe-ish.
Another wonderful arrangement....
An absolutely delightful performance! :-)
The Master of the Macabre would obviously approve of this rendition...
Thanks, Jonathan and Tom!
... trascrizione deliziosa!
You guys are so talented!!!!
Have you ever thought of doing "Vltava - Ma Vlast" by Smetana, or "Humoresque" by Dvorak? That would be really amazing!!!
Keep up the good work
The Smetena would be wonderful my favourite being Vltava
Geoffrey Atherton It's my favourite too!! Breathtaking
He did Vltava a few days ago :D
Brian Laywood
Thank you Jonathan, never heard this on the organ before, well played as usual. How about the Albert Hall whilst you are in London? That would be something to hear!!
I love London
wow
J'ouvre mon youtube spécialement pour écouter votre performance. Merci de décloisonner l'orgue comme vous le faites.
Really good!
👏
The display pipes are they decorative only or do they produce a sound?
Have you ever compiled a list of English organs u've played? Ide love to know about ones you've tried in the NW (chorley, wigan, preston etc.) Im especially a lover of tracker organs and had the pleasure of learning on one here in the NW. You could even make a video on your journeys. Beautiful playing and great upload as per usual 🤩🤩🤩👌👍✌
Love the use of the clarinet and trumpet reeds. Was the swell 8 foot Vox Humana utilized as well?

Sign at 0:44 "This is an organ pipe. Please do not put anything on it, or block the sound hole."
Me: spits gum in the sound hole, thinking it's a trash can... 😁
NEW WORLD symphony by Dvorak!!!!
I like the performance, but it's really creepy when the knobs pop out by themselves. It doesn't help to know that many of these pipe organs are haunted.
Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, you have some major competition.
Odd
Such a light and airy piece
Yet it's a funeral march????
LOL
What did the marionette die from?
Показалось музыка похожа на сочинения Грига!
This isn't Funeral March of a Marionette! It's played Very slowly, in 2 (🎵.=1 beat)

Тут что то непонятное с мелодией,какая то она неопределенная,нецікавая..! Александр Одессит
An unusual piece to play in a church. Not very churchey. I prefer your more bombastic organ pieces, rather than this type of music. Long live Alfred Hitchcock. It was his theme song, you know.
Belle musique pour jouer à l'enterrement d'Emmanuel Macron
