Regarding 4:18 for those who are unfamiliar with the technique, the substance being melted & dripped onto the chain is known as Pitch which is made from Bitumen or from Tree Sap Resin. It solidifies into a firm adhesive which holds the chain in place. Pitch is also used for other types of metalwork such as Chasing or Repousse.

Some use shelllaque to hold the chain on the Wood while filing facettes..
