PJ Harvey - This Mess We're In (Solo Vocals Version)

- This is the version of 'This Mess We're In' that Harvey had created before the addition of Thom Yorke's lead vocals. A fan of his voice, she wrote this song with the Radiohead frontman in mind, feeling very strongly that it "had to be sung by a man".
*Yorke also contributed backing vocals and keyboards to two other tracks from the album.
Artist: PJ Harvey
Album: Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea: B Sides (2000)
This would have been what Thom Yorke first heard when she asked him to sing the part.
I like hearing a different version of what I'm used to. Both are awesome IMO .
you can hear "original" of song now. it's not original too( so here is second version, and on streamings you can hear only third version. But I don't understand, where I can find the original of song in 2020.
Her voice is beautiful!
of course I love both versions and never before have heard this one. Polly´s music´s that kind of beautiful !
both versions are amazing works
just as amazing
sublime both versions are great!!!
Can you hear them?
The helicopters?
I'm in New York
No need for words now
We sit in silence
You look me
In the eye directly
You met me
I think it's Wednesday
The evening
The mess we're in and
(Oh) The city sun sets over me
(Oh) The city sun sets over me
Night and day
I dream of making love
To you now, baby
Love-making
On-screen
Impossible dream
And I have seen
The sunrise
Over the river
The freeway
Reminding
Of this mess we're in and
(Oh) The city sun sets over me
(Oh) The city sun sets over me
The city sunset over me
The city sun sets over me
What were you wanting? (What was it you wanted?)
I just want to say (I just want to say)
Don't ever change now, baby (don't ever change)
And thank you (and thank you)
I don't think we will meet again (I don't think we will meet again)
You must leave now before the sun rises above the skyscrapers
(And you must leave now)
And the city landscape (before the sunrise)
Comes into view (above skyscrapers)
Sweat on my skin, and oh (the sin and)
This mess we're in
The city sun sets over me
(Oh) The city sunset over me
(Oh) The city sun sets over me
(Oh) The city sun sets over me
no need for moscow
Beautiful and better
Great upload thank you, I've never heard this what a treat
Thank you
Her best album.
better❣
i think either of these would have worked beautifully on the album. it's actually a nice change up from the thom vocals....go back and forth quite a lot.....somehow it feels different all coming polly's own voice.
Much better than the duet.
She’s a god
❤
a decade of trying to find out what is the source of this track. nowhere mentioned on discogs, no info whatsoever on "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea: B Sides (2000)" ... Where. Does. This. Come. From?
This is a demo
No, it’s not.
THIS IS THE DEMO, and this versión sounds better than the og demo ua-cam.com/video/kkKaQQB4Pks/v-deo.html
Version with York is better. Also PJs vocals are better there. Just my humble opinion .
Much better without Thom Yorke of course.
