In the Beyblade Burst Sparking Season, there's been a lot of controversy with Lain Valhalla who serves as the main antagonist for this season. I give my own take into what are the issues with the season overall and this character. Please keep in mind there's obviously spoilers so if you don't know anything about sparking/ beyblade burst surge. Please be mindful before watching the video.

@@Darkblader333Exactly, we don’t know how long he as battled for, which makes his wins feel worthless compared to someone like Valt. Also, just because he’s a villain/anti hero, that doesn’t mean good writing just gets thrown out the window like with Lane. Having that much power without any reason is simply bad writing.

The thing I don't understand about Flare is, why can only 3 characters use this power? It just seems like a stronger resonance yet the legends can't use it.
It’s specifically for them. All three of there avatars or beys are based on the sun. Like Hyperion and Helios. And also Variant. That’s why flare which is also based on the sun is specifically for them which sort of make sense
@@Kayden_mvp13 that is just an excuse and there is no proof. If it's resonance then the legends should be able to use it. The sun has nothing to do with it in the anime. That mi8be the reasoning the writers used to give it to them but it doesn't holp up in the actually anime universe.

I think it is like the resonance when you and your beyblade have a insane drive to get stronger and win just to dominate and destroy which you think oh lui and free should have this but no because they may want to get stronger but both are already near the top of they blading world they have no big jumps in rank that they could have so these characters which are beginners have such a flaming desire to become legends and it shows how this is an urge to destroy and conquer (not so much destroy with the brothers) so they have this urge to conquer and so do there beyblade so the more determination the more resonance and more power which means it has infinite potential

Gosh, I wish we had an actually well written antagonist. Not where they have just plot armour so the protagonist(s) can beat them once in the end and be the best blader. I know they’re supposed to be routed against but “AH I’M GONNA BREAK UR BEYBLADE BECAUSE I’M A HORRIBLE PERSON” is so one dimensional that lane feels literally flat as a character. We’re told it’s because he’s power hungry but that isn’t good enough imo. Anyway I don’t want to go off on too much of a rant so I’ll leave it off here. I agree, Lane is a horrible character

The thing with Arthur, except Arthur is a passable Character because at least he didn't have plat armor and was actually kinda entertaining. Lain is not only Evil for the sake of it, but he's only intimidating because plot
Lain Valhalla is basically Boa Alcazar if the writers treated him seriously and lazily, heck their beys are pretty similar with both Lucifer and Bahamut being black defense types with a barrier gimmick even their avatars are basically the same.

Watching lane sweep everyone back then was the biggest bruh moment of my time watching beyblade as a whole
Lane started of a pretty interesting character but as sparking continued and he just kept on winning and beating the legends characters that most of us probably liked a lot more than lane and wanted for them to beat him he became really boring

Lane is a poorer version of Brooklyn from g revolutions. Brooklyn seemed in beatable and was a natural prodigy even defeating Kai with little effort when the first fought. Whereas Lane just never loses, he beats Valt, Free and Lui with very little effort. Even when Lane is pushed he just flares up and then wins. Whereas when Brooklyn is push he kinda loses it mentally which made him interesting.

Agreed. At least Brooklyn had character development. What made him interesting is that because of the fact that he is too strong as a child, no one wanted to play with him. Because of this, he became very narcissistic thinking that no matter how many people train, he'll always win in the end. But then the moment Kai defeated him, which shocked Brooklyn and made him realize that he isn't invincible. He couldn't accept that. Because of this, Brooklyn went crazy during the final battle against Tyson.

Okay, first the controversy of Fumiya owning Fafnir and now Lane having a plot armour overdose. The Beyblade Burst anime is really getting more controversial between longtime fans of the franchise huh

That controversy with Fumiya was dumb the anime makes it pretty clear that like Xavier with Xander and Xcalius he only named his bey and gimmick after Free's bey because he was a fan of him
(After his lost to Delta we see a flashback of him on TV watching Free and that's what inspired him).
Tbh the only good things in this season is character interaction and battles without lane and also every antagonist had a goal with u know braking beys and all that and we could see them train so we know there strong but lane oh I have flare *cough cough* plot armor and I win everything without any training I’m the best antagonist

I felt that lane would have a dual spin bey because in the opening the dark area is always spinning in the opposite direction of the twins beys.
GT did a WAY better job with the little runtime it had.Sparking was the biggest dub I've ever seen in my life.
The fact that in his battle with Lui, even though he is backed against the wall by Longinus and still managed to burst Longinus because *screaming intensifies* , that made me doubt this season in general.

Yes, I absolutely hate it when the newer characters beat the old ones, it's almost like they just bring them in the show that way the old characters can get wrecked by the new ones and it's ridiculous because the original characters are legends and the show makes these legends weaker than they really are.

Thank you! You literally listed every reason I don't like Lain. All admit when I first saw him I thought "Ok another edgy kid but that's fine. Probably gonna prove to have a lot of potential and win some battles, lose some battles, and edgy characters sometimes have my favorite beyblade bit beasts/avatars/spirits" not completely the case this time. I admit Lain has one of my favorite spirts, First Uranus, but I just don't like Lain as a character. I agree that it is very boring to see a character like him that just doesn't lose. Like yes he may have lost once or twice, Shu being an example, but it doesn't matter. I think the thing I hate about him the most is the fact that he just defeats anyone first try. Free? First try. Lui? I hear he beat him twice. Drum? beat him. And so and so forth. It's just dumb that he doesn't lose and to see that the only people he really battles are these legends that are extremely powerful and nearly impossible to bring down are beaten as easily as snapping your fingers or in this case, yelling Flare. Hearing Free lose I thought "He beat Free? That's impressive" then he beat Lui and thought "Lui probably didn't take him seriously." then he beats everyone up to Aiger and thought "And he beat Aiger... This really starting to get annoying." and then then he faced Valt and I thought "I prefer Aiger over Valt but I'm really hoping that Valt wins." Because he kind has a track record of beating these main villains that either beat him the first time or that series main character. And when I saw Valt lose that was it. It was honestly the last straw for me. I can instantly lose all emotion to the battle if I see Lain is the opponent. Do I think Lain is a dumb and broken character? Yes. Do I think he needs to be changed somewhat? Oh definitely. Do I think it's too late? Sadly yes.
I'm sorry but honestly the legends should really be on a different level. Like seriously Aiger who is champion lost?? Valt lost?? SHU KURENAI LOST 10 TIMES!? Honestly I've noticed titles dont matter at this point, Lean is just overpowered. Im in no way a fanboy but how did beyblade writing go down and down after Evoloution. Phi was best antagonist hands down, him being strong made so much sense. But if beyblade was more realistic then lets be honest Lean would be Drum level at best.

I have to agree. The characters that we've been with the last four seasons, their stories and their paths to victory all got thrown out like trash in the sparking season. I get that they should introduce new generations of bladers, but then you have Hikaru, Hyuga and Lane, who we haven't seen them train that much as Aiga, Dante and Valt did and they somehow get an over finish or pull some plot armor and beat them. Lane has the biggest plot armor of all. If season 6 is happening, I hope they don't do the exact same thing that happened in sparking. It would be better if we got a main antagonist and protagonist that we see train and come up with moves instead of just having them in random episodes.

I mean phi was the best written villian in the anime,he was smart,scary and honestly even completly insane at some point ,he lost a few times like once against aiga and once on purpose on the battle cruiseship. But he had so many interesting things about him, like his Relationship with his younger brother hearts who hate each other,how he taunts Everyone with his menacing Aura,and i saw him as serious threat and he also has a large count of destroying beys with 5 beys being vice leopard, dead hades,z achilles ,geist fafnir and cho-z spriggan ,which is if im right the highest amount a villian in burst has gotten .but now to lain ,he has nothing about him other than plot armor ,he was able to defeat like legends like lui ,shu and even valt . Just beys he has the flare ,he just wants to win and he changes his bey every time he lost ,or won,he has nothing worth watching and i can say a similar thing about hyuga and hikaru,im not the biggest fan sparking as it is very boring, the only cool thing was drum and lui as a team.

The problem with sparking is that lane does not lose a match and when he really loses is only against shu and why in the tag match lane and shu do not lose even when lane 1v2 like what just cause of his flar

Lane is one of the cruel characters I have ever seen but i have different reasons. My reasons is that Lean needs to learn something out of losing not getting revenge because it’s not a real bladder spirit and I think that the legends got feel left out and sometimes, lean needs to lose a bit more
If there's a season 6 and lane makes an appearance hope he gets nerfed

atleast at veteran stage.What would make more sense is new character going

What I dint like in gt was that once they unlocked the infinite lock system they made the
balder weaker, they made it the weakness and showed arthur was only strong coz of a system.

I feel like they used my comment on my thoughts on aiga in cho z issues that you made and made it to this season, but overblown. I was even talking about how suoh should beat lui and shu should have a student, Lane reminds me of suoh mad side and pink. I think they did a good job at starting it and ended not as well. I think they should have better stadiums instead of indoor the finals should be more outdoors to change the mood.

Sparking aiger: Wiser,Has fun,learns from mistakes,has a lot of experience and losing every literal battle.
So why even make him that good and give him a character development that is so great just to make him team up with ranjiro instead of valt and making him lose. They treated their 1st protagonist and 2nd protagonist badder than side characters.

My opinion on what’s messing this up:
I think, yes, Lain is DEFINITELY a problem 😂
But so is Flair!😂 I mean, you said that it’s when the resonance with your bey is so strong you unlock this. But like, HOW THE HELL DO MORE OF THESE LEGENDS NOT HAVE THIS!!? I mean, yes, of course it’s OP, but it also feels exclusive for NO GOOD REASON. But yeah, Lain is a massive problem with this series. I honestly wouldn’t have complained if the main villain was Aiga’s past evil resonance and Shu’s Red Eye thing coming back and creating some sorta “society” for evil resonance bladers. And they all had to verse them. Or something else along those lines. Anyway, thanks for letting me share my option😂

I am up to date with anime (not manga) and Lane seems to me the best antagonist of all, he is my favorite character in the entire franchise.
My main reason is that I saw its development throughout chapters since it came out, it can be said that it became more "human" and being so ruthless from the beginning looking only to win is what in my opinion makes it a great antagonist, yes the complaints are about the infinite "power ups", come on, it's beyblade, don't try to find a lot of logic. He also has Harry, Harry is God.
I don't like that last comment about it being beybled therefore we shouldn't find logic in it.

Comparing the villains lui was just the top bladder of Japan for five years and defending his title with shu he was corrupt by spryzen with phi he wanted to break all beys with gryn he had no friends and believed a battle can be figured out with math and smarts with lane ohh I got plot armor

Zankye, I'll say that your ideas work better. Also, I'd have Lane be someone who respects the Legends, giving him more than just "I want to win and I ALWAYS WIN BECAUSE FLARE" Also, give him a few losses so that he's better. Like what you mentioned, Free should have won against Lane, thus giving him the motivation to defeat the Legends and become number one.

I like said before this season of Beyblade Burst is style over substance. Has some very cool battles OUTSIDE OF LEAN. That made hyped to watch, but that's really it. Story just isn't there even for Burst standards. I see them doing this cause this season started when the 20th anniversary was getting closer but that shouldn't be an excuse to be lacking in story. At least Zero-G for the miss potential it had at least had a story of building the future of beyblade years after 4D ended. And GT legit felt like a continuation after Cho-Z. SparKing is just there, you don't have to watch a full episode to enjoy the and just search it on YT. And the fact that they're only 3 new characters should've made the story even easier to manage. Overall the battles can be hype but story is nonexistent
