    About this video:
    Welcome to the Year of The Mustang project! I'm Jake Harvath, a 24 year old horse trainer, and I'm currently traveling back and forth across the US on horseback. This trip will span over 7000 miles as I travel around 25 miles on most days. Each video is a week of my travels across America. I hope you enjoy experiencing the ride alongside me and my horses as we take on this ambitious adventure! If you want to see new places, find interesting history, and have tons of fun, then this video is for you.

    Hello from Memphis TN. I’ve been watching from the start. I lost my BLM mustang to cancer 6 years ago, he was in his mid twenties. He taught me a lot about herd dynamics. Mustangs are definitely different from domesticated horses, he was the best weatherman. Would love to adopt another one, but I’m at horse/acre capacity at this time. Be safe out there!

      Mustangs are so tough and sure-footed that there's no better horse for rough terrain and difficult trails.

    Man I am loving these videos if you’re still planning on going to New Jersey, may God bless you. I drive tractor trailer for a living. Grew up in Pennsylvania. I lived there my whole life until four months ago. We moved to Ohio, but I used to drive truck into New Jersey and New York City. All the time. Absolutely hate that part of the country. I haven’t been there in about six years. Don’t care if I never go back.

    I would LOVE to see the miles riden thus far on each video. Last I knew was 1,500 miles thus far. However I know you have riden more than that by now. All I ever see most the time is just on your headline . Which says a 7,000 mile journey. An how many miles you ride that day. Please try to keep us more informed as this is so cool . Thank you

      I've gone over 2600 miles at this point. We ride between 20-25 miles a day on average although sometimes less than 20 depending on where I've found hosting. I take all the video footage but my brother back home does the editing. Happy to pass on your request.

    I live about 20 minutes from BSF. It is stunning but rugged country. I’m fortunate it’s in my backyard. I have been in those trails many times. Glad you enjoyed it. By the way those are some fine horses!

      You will not regret it. The whole area is so horse-friendly that I wish I could have spent more time just exploring and enjoying the beautiful scenery. And the lodge was the nicest accomodations I've ever stayed in.

    I'm glad you give details and names because I'm always trying to follow you on google maps :) Do you have some sort of idea how much longer before you reach New Jersey? I'm worried about how hot it's gonna be for you and the horses as you head back west to Utah, via California......

    Do you switch horses during the day? I just assumed that you ride the same one all day. How often do your horses need new shoes?

    • @francineherron1940
      @francineherron1940 3 місяці тому

      I think he switches horse's to ride

    • @jakeharvath
      @jakeharvath  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes, I ride the same hourse all day. Every other day I switch who gets packed and who gets riden. Because folks often offer to drive the load ahead, I keep track and make sure they get an equal number of days to get a break and carry no load at all.

    Do you ever get asked for proof of a coggins test ? What hitch do you use the most?

    • @jakeharvath
      @jakeharvath  2 місяці тому

      I heven't been asked for proof of a coggins test yet but I have paper documentation it it happens so we're all good. The hitch I use the most is actually my own variation of a walker hitch. Great questions!
