coach I played 10 years in the NFL with the Jaguars an I really appreciate the attention to detail and the speed in which your athlete recognized their assignments and finished to the ball. Keep it up!!
Yo i like this drill. I will be coaching middle school football this year and was wondering if you think that would be to much information for that age to learn.
I play high school football and this is really great but they arent taking read steps to the ball, and some could argue u dont need them but to hit the A and B gaps they're really helpful also I dont see the tackles u need to read out the play to make an impact on the offense so I'm kinda confused!🤷♂️
On the Zone Read part of the video. If the reduction is coming from the LEFT. LDE has B Gap. NT has B/S A (Right), Looks like PSLB is scraping to C Gap. Then it has the B/S LB gap exchanging to the the Right with the RDE. Who has the P/S A Gap? Am I seeing that wrong?
Bryan Schaumloffel the play side end will collapse the b gap and should cut the back off from play side A. And a good/quick nose will use the momentum of the backside guard to propel him through to make a play on the back if he tries to redirect to it.
Mike I teach my kids to read backs through the guards. . We use the backs as a primary read key and the guards as an indicator. The only thing we care about is if the guard pulls. If the guard blocks straight ahead I play the back read keys body position. Chest - I fill Shoulder - I scrape. Actually the only thing that matters to me is if my guard pulls to the outside. This tells me to scrape wide. I expect my BS LBer to play anything under (all cutbacks). We never play QB under teams anymore. If we do we read and react immediately to the step of the FB. QB off (shotgun, pistol, etc) we cross read the back but again through the guard.
If the back is in a Pistol then what? Me personally the most reliable read is guard to back. Is it a pain? Yes, but once the players get it...they can play with undeniable confidence
Not really. I coach IS Lber's and these guys are playing at good pad level. This SA LB coach does a good job. I show this to my kids because it is the way I want them to plkay.
