Ingenious solution to the problem of proprietary tooling! Do you plan to make your design available to other watchmakers or perhaps sell these tools themselves? There are bound to be a lot of other Speed master owners who would give their eye teeth for that crystal jig!
hats off for you servicing this 861...not a lot of amaeur watchfiddlers would try this. So perseverance with the home made tool pays off, tres bien. 👍👍
Thank you as always for your support. It was a struggle especially on the crystal. I found it easier than the cal 1040 on the mark III. The good quality of these calibre from omega make it a bit easier as well.
I really enjoy your videos. I just started down the watchmaking rabbit hole in November and you’ve given me a lot of inspiration to keep stepping my “game “ up. I just have to tell you this: in the late’70’s I was teaching pipe welding and I had a student the was French/Vietnamese, Nobio . His mother was French and his father was Vietnamese but during the war years they migrated to France. After schooling he found his way to the US and got a job in industrial construction and started learning to welding. Your accent now reminds me so much of him, but it took me a while to connect from where. BTW, he’s probably one of the best students I’ve ever had. Well kinda off topic but great job on the watches 👍👍

Thank you Andrew. It is a fair game as I can understand that they try to protect their business. What is a shame is that they are good to sell new watches but not that good to restore vintage watches. This bring opportunities for independent workshops but you have to find a way around this retention from the big brands

Ment to say I have a omega not sure if it is the 861 or the 321.It is getting serviced at this stage in England thy said thy can only tell me what model it is once thy opened it
You need to open the watch in order to be sure what movement is inside. You don’t need expensive tools to open it yourself if you want to do it yourself
The second part of a great salvage operation! Thanks again for sharing.
Thank you
Thankyou for this video, so helpful when doing my first 861 *which I took apart about 18mths ago....
It is a great caliber

@@pipodorologio1648 I will see if people are interested in this tool. it is true that is so annoying because it is impossible to find the Omega tool.

Your tool is very much like a piston install sleeve…. Very nice work!!
Yes it is. Nothing fancy but you just need the right dimensions

You can go on cousin it or just by tapping on google with the caliber number. You will not find the oil chart for all the caliber
