Blaze follows the usual trend of past Sonic rivals turned allies like how Knuckles represented strength to matching Sonic's speed, Shadow a lookalike mirror who is similar to but walked a different path for how the two hedgehogs diverge, then Blaze is essentially a combination of sorts between Sonic and Knuckles with her role as a guardian to her respective emeralds, can go super and is to this day the only female Sonic character to do so, introverted like Knuckles, is faster than Amy < Espio (if going by Heroes speed stats), but is slower than Sonic and Shadow (as evidenced by if you play Rush multiplier as can only win a race via taking shortcuts thanks to her air mobility tricks) and yeah Sonic representing the wind while she represents fire in being like an alternate universe Sonic foil.
