That sounds...suicidal; the smell was bad through two bags; imagine adding the whole bottle of it to a campfire candle and it goes up in that column of smoke
After watching this a second time with my sister, I have some thoughts for BIG Candle mark 2. 1) there is specialized glue for candle wicks that won't melt when you pour the wax in. It keeps them from floating up when you pour the wax in. 2) it may be actually easier to hand place the wicks, but use a jig to mark where to place each one with colored powder. This is commonly used to marking sewing pattern edges. 3) different candle wicks have different melt radiuses, so you could make a super wide candle by spacing out the wicks more and utilizing their melt radiuses. 4) definitely make it poop scented.
@@ohshititscrit that was my thought.. use 2 jigs.. leave the 1 at the base.. pull the 2nd to the top to use as the wick holder for the tips.. when pouring the wax..
One thing I was thinking of, some people use the candle wax itself on the wick to stick it down. I guess it wouldn't work on the thousand wick scale though...
Not sure if I am the only one to notice. But the metal container was advertised as galvanized. Which means that there is a chance that the smoke was due to burning the zinc. Hope you both are okay.
10:53 to 12:36 was the absolute hardest I have laughed in YEARS. I was CRYING. I couldn't BREATHE. I feel like I've done a full ab workout or something. ohh, laughing that hard hurt so much. I managed to calm down a little and then Katelyn revealed that she knew the whereabouts of the spray and Evan's incredulous "YOU'VE KNOWN ?!!?!?" had me rolling on the floor all over again. MAN that was funny ! the fire was beautiful while it burned and that slowmo of putting it out was GORGEOUS. I'd say that this project is an absolute win :D
Hi! I’m a chandler (candle maker) and I can explain what happened when the wicks “disappeared”. It’s not actually the wax that’s on fire! The wax is evaporating rapidly, and what’s fueling the candle at that point is actually the fragrance! The fragrance blends are often oil, alcohol, and other flammable materials. It looks like your fire actually burned the wicks faster than the wax could melt at the start & that’s why they disappeared. Love a good campfire candle though!
So you're saying that the 15ml of fragrance they added is the main fuel of such a huge fire? Makes zero sense. Why would you think that? The more logical explanation is that it's just like a normal candle. The wax gets hot enough to evaporate and that gas is what's burning. You said yourself that the wax is evaporating rapidly. So makes zero sense to me why you think it's the fragrance??
I doubt the amount of fragrance is making that much fire, but the most common wax is paraffin wax, which is flammable (It doesn't light very easily, which is why most tealights don't do this, but this is 1000 wicks)
@KenzieSings143 You might want to do some research on your “Hobby”. Candle wax (Paraffin wax) is most defiantly very flammable, it just doesn’t ignite until roughly 400-500 degrees F.
Be very careful with boiling wax fires, they pretty much the same as an oil fire, so don't use water to extinguish it. With your lid you had the right idea. But you always should have an fire extinguisher handy that is suitable for oil fires. And monitor it until its cooled down, because such an fire can reignite pretty fast.
There's a fire extinguisher in a lot of the shots, and it's clearly in reach as they put the lid on. I don't think they'd do this without several ways to put it out safely. :)
This video made me so sad :( I hope one of the millions of people who watch these videos doesn’t try this fun and cool DIY wildfire device. E & K are usually so serious about safety and setting a good example!
Oh my god you made an instant pot grease fire. The slow-mo is perfect. I hope no one touched that for A WHILE after you put it out. Thank goodness you had that massive fire pit available.
Evan&Katelyn : "We should not use wood in our candle because it will become a fire hazard !" Also Evan&Katelyn : "We will make a base out of wood for our candle !" Love it 😂😂
It's contained within the metal pan. However, candle of this size is fire hazard in itself, it's basically a campfire, so it doesn't really matter anyway.
@@The_AntiVillain isn't it a cookware container they are using? What you are saying applies to zinc-plated steel only, and i haven't seen zinc-plated food-grade containers for a very long time for that exact reason. Their container is probably stainless steel, not zinc-plated one.

If you're planning a second iteration, it will be immensely easier to place actual candles instead of individual wicks. Space them as desired and optionally fill the void with additional wax.
Interestingly it wouldn't even be more expensive. Found 30 pounds of wax for like 500 bucks and 1000 wicks is maybe 50 bucks more. You can easily find 1000 candles for way less than that.
The segment where Evan was struggling to say "come let’s sit together and watch the wax melt." And trying to keep katelyn from getting the poop spray had me tear up from laughing so hard 😂😂. It reminded me of the crazy antics with me and my husband.

as a candle maker myself, i am scared and mesmarized at the same time.. excited to hear you're planning to create a version 2 with a more functional one. would recommend spacing each wick about 2-3 inches apart. cant wait
This could backfire (ba-dum-tss). Overheated parafin is no joke. Spacing out the wicks could distribute the heat more (which would be good) but it also could allow more oxygen in (which would let the wicks burn hotter) In the end there will be burning liquid wax and the wicks won't matter anyway
I, one time as a 10 year old, built a fort out in the woods. I was going to sleep in it and wanted some light. I took about 20 candles for light. I put the candles in a pan I found. I light them all at once. I was surprised at how much heat they put out. I then realized it was the wax that was on fire and not the wicks. I tried to blow it out with no success. I almost burnt the fort down and may or may not have spilled some of it on my shoe and had to walk back with one shoe on. I learned how candles worked that day. Also, I learned the do and do nots.

Right now I’m scared to get off my bed so I’m just waiting until I fall asleep so watching these two helps me feel comfortable enough to actually go to sleep
Absolutely loved this, but a word of caution, galvanized steel let's off toxic zinc fumes when heated. You did it outside (which, given the application was sort of necessary) but if anyone tried a smaller scale version and tried lighting it indoors it can be deadly
Zinc lets off white/yellow fumes, but the smoke coming from this was grey and black, so I think they didn’t let it burn low enough to start to burn the zinc.
Putting that on top of the shelf reminded me of my parents engagement story. They'd been living together for a few years and one day Dad was just like hey do you want to get engaged and Mom was like YES. So he got the engagement ring down from a high shelf because he is tall and she is short, and then they went on with their day. Dad sucks at romance but he loves Mom SO much and is always there for her so it's okay
Im going through a rough breakup with someone I thought was the one for me but watching you two be gentle and loving with each other gives me hope that I will find the one that will have those fun and goofy moments with me. Thank you for sharing your love and your awesome crafts. I wish you all the best❤
In the scouts we used to make "portable campfires" simmilar to this (much smaller, we used camping plate kits for size), and we used chalks as wicks. They are much more durable than normal wicks. You have to use the big chalks which are noot as compacted so the wax can flow. And indeed in some cases the whole wax surface lit on fire....
If they do they're very unlikely to do it on the main channel. They rarely repeat videos because I think repeat videos tend to get less views, and they already have so many new ideas they want to get to! But it would be cool to see another big candle, I feel like if they were to do it, it would be on their second channel.
Omigoodness. The sparkly letters on Evans shirt are such a throwback to the late 70’s/early 80’s. I saved my allowance to buy T-shirt’s I designed. It was all the rage at the time.

Thank you!
Out of all of your videos, this one made me the most nervous. There have been cases of candles exploding due to the outside heating faster than the inside. This is a lot bigger and way hotter than those. Glad it went well and looked great!
Thank you so much for the note with how much this weighs in kg! As a non-american this is really helpful for the next time I'm thinking of ordering an 1000 wick candle online 🥰🥰
I was recently gifted a candle-making kit because I added one to my wishlist after watching your first candle video forever ago!! I am so excited to make a cursed candle, you have NO IDEA.
Whilst you were searching for a container, I was staring at the PC thinking you need to make replacement panels out of resin or velvet, or even the mood paint on the PC case, those would look so cool, and once you have a mould you can make loads of different panels for it, with loads of different ideas. Also a Joob front panel so its just Joob lit up by LED's
i wasnt worried when the flames got high and the basin holding the candles started bleeding black ichor. i started worrying when you started adding wood and baby powder and glue and plastics to keep the wicks down
Seeing you two roasting marshmallows over a giant 1000+ wick candle reminds me of that time my sisters and I cranked the baseboard heater in our room and made smores over it... Ahh, childhood.... And yes, they did taste a bit dusty.
your energy together is amazing. Had to pause the video to get tell you how wonderful you are. I've had quite the anxiety ridden day and your video has me genuinely smiling and giggling!! The whole poop spray thing has me dying I love it ❤❤

You mean "things people say due to obsessive-compulsive disorder" type that manifests itself in hoarding? No. No, that's not it. That's definitely not what Katelyn is doing. (no sarcasm)
Somehow whenever I feel bad in some way I find myself watching these two. Right now I’m probably close to a minor panic attack plus some minor pain in my legs right now but watching these two makes me feel better. Right now I’m scared to get off my bed so I’m just waiting until I fall asleep so watching these two helps me feel comfortable enough to actually go to sleep
Putting this on a cake would be insane! The candle is bigger than most cakes.
it would definitely squish a cake haha
@@EvanAndKatelyn just need to make a big enough cake
@@EvanAndKatelyn Okay, but reinforce the cake with wooden planks instead of dowels. I wanna see y'all try to make and decorate an enormous cake.
Fun video, though you should put a warning about heating galvanised steel as some types lets off zinc which is toxic
I love that the BGM for the fight over the Poop Spray was "Hell" by Squirrel Nut Zippers.
This channel is the perfect blend of explorative engineering and DiWhy and I am HERE for it.
calm down steve urkel
Im going through a rough breakup with someone I thought was the one for me but watching you two be gentle and loving with each other gives me hope that I will find the one that will have those fun and goofy moments with me. Thank you for sharing your love and your awesome crafts. I wish you all the best❤
I can already tell this is going to be lit 🔥
🤣🤚
Uggggggggggggh. 🙄🙄 *upvotes*

12:02 😂😂😂 katelyn your dance and Evans face 😂😂😂😂 y’all are my happy place with how funny y’all are😂😂
I love that when placing the wicks Evan started in the middle 😂 and Kaitlyn was methodical starting on one end.
I love that they're already planning on making a second giant candle lol, please do!!! It would be so much fun to watch!!
If they do they're very unlikely to do it on the main channel. They rarely repeat videos because I think repeat videos tend to get less views, and they already have so many new ideas they want to get to! But it would be cool to see another big candle, I feel like if they were to do it, it would be on their second channel.
10:55 This was way more funny without context. Just Evan shouting "Its the POOP!"
I have to constantly remind myself that Katelyn is "normal" size and Evan is a giant to comprehend the scale of things like at 4:02
How big is Evan actually?
Evan is 6ft 5in
12:58
Me too 1 of my pet cats when they're just chilling on the stairs
12:50 I think we all wish we had a relationship like the one Evan and Katelyn have
Omigoodness. The sparkly letters on Evans shirt are such a throwback to the late 70’s/early 80’s. I saved my allowance to buy T-shirt’s I designed. It was all the rage at the time.
Katelyns laugh while getting the poop spray just made my whole day
I kinda thought that Evan would have taken the poo out of the bag and hidden it while behind the chopsaw so that she _wouldn't_ find it in the trashbag
6:10 - Ok ok ok... that was cleaner than what I would have done. I was thinking of hot gluing wood to the floor of the pan, but this is... chefs kiss ingenuity.
It's actually impossible to watch any of your videos without a huge smile on my face😂
14:54 Evan, look out!! Katelyn recovered the poop scent! Oh no he can’t hear me, he has Raycons in 😭
😂😂
love how katelyn was so excited about making a chemical weapon
I kept waiting for 'and this is the moment they knew...' Voice over. 😂good job guys
The editing in this one was sublime. When the "professional" was physically and metaphorically struck down. 10/10
just a sugjestion but if you recreat it or do a 2.0 it might be a good idea to do ecofriendly wax so it will be better for the envirment when burning
btw thank you so much for always having captions for the whole video! I appreciate it so much ❤
Yall gave me the great idea to make candles with my dad for his birthday. He loved it and wants to make more now. thank you for the idea!
I love how, as you guys take out the candles, there’s a giggle of nervousness that steadily increases 😂😂
13:19 Evan using his height as a shield to get rid of the poop spray, is the funniest thing, KATELYN WHY KEEP IT 😫😫
Also, ngl, I could use that candle with the current snowy weather we’re getting in MARCH in England. 😌
The amount of work you put it into these videos is insane
The fated poop spray!!!! I wasn't expecting the return of the poop spray!
I mean I've been excited for this video but 'tis a bonus and family reactions too!!
haha! i've been waiting for the right moment!
Haha can’t wait to see version 2.0.
Will have to figure out some way to get air in through the bottom without losing wax!
Too cute, you guys. You've gotten really good at editing, Katelyn. The full moon in the shot at the end was perfect.
Whenever I get to that point where the thought of People, in general, makes me want to sequester myself in a Monastery in the remotest place possible, preferably with an Order that has taken a Vow of Silence, I can always count on the 2 of You to remind me that there is still good, clean, often ridiculous, sometimes dangerous, joyful, zany FUN to be had. ❤ you both (and the supuurrrvisor!) more than you'll ever know. Thank you!
Evan and Katelyn's slow descent into (safety-conscious) pyromania has been a wonderful journey to see.
Safety Adjacent with Evan and Katelyn
You both should get in the guiness world record book for this . Well done 👏🏻
Yes! As a Brit, this will be VERY helpful when I’m thinking of doing this absolutely completely totally legal thing
I'm loving the "big" phase y'all are doing lately. This was fun to watch! The slow mo of the candle being put out was freaking epic 🔥
at 13:01 i rewatched that segment so many times i am crying that was so much funnier than it needed to be
I was recently gifted a candle-making kit because I added one to my wishlist after watching your first candle video forever ago!!
Also a Joob front panel so its just Joob lit up by LED's
i wasnt worried when the flames got high and the basin holding the candles started bleeding black ichor. i started worrying when you started adding wood and baby powder and glue and plastics to keep the wicks down
13:57 Yay! They made a familiar reference!!!🎉😊
Seeing you two roasting marshmallows over a giant 1000+ wick candle reminds me of that time my sisters and I cranked the baseboard heater in our room and made smores over it... Ahh, childhood.... And yes, they did taste a bit dusty.
For some reason, this is my favorite video on your channel ❤ has been ever since it was uploaded
I'll never get tired of your antics.
The editing is always my favorite part of your videos
We make tiny stoves out of Beens cans and tea light candles with my scouts, I kinda want to see a version of that with the BIG candle.
13:50 it is laminer flow just not the specific kind where it is a perfect round colum
"Could you imagine though, an 18-inch column of flame shooting up?" the pyromaniac in me loves this already
your energy together is amazing. Had to pause the video to get tell you how wonderful you are. I've had quite the anxiety ridden day and your video has me genuinely smiling and giggling!! The whole poop spray thing has me dying I love it ❤❤
