I'm not quite sure, but if I'm interpreting it correctly, here's what he means: 1. Refuelling a star Stars undergo a process called fusion, where the atoms in a star fuse with those around them, due to the extreme states of energy in the surrounding area. The most common element in most stars, Hydrogen (the "fuel"), will slowly be fused into helium, and then so on and so forth. Once the star runs out of 'fuel', depending on it's mass, it can turn into a black hole, or perhaps a white dwarf (the exposed core of a dead star). What I think tommy is proposing is that somehow we Inject a large amount of hydrogen into our sun (which unfortunately wouldn't work) to 'refuel' it. 2. The expansion of the universe One of the more common theories on how the universe could end is by the "Heat death" of the universe. The universe is constantly expanding, and currently, that rate of expansion is accelerating. If the rate of expansion of the universe grows so fast that it somehow exceeds that of light (the fastest that energy, matter, and pretty much anything in the universe can propagate through it), then anything in the universe would literally lose all cohesion. If we could stop this, it would prevent the heat death, which in turn would (theoretically) extend the "shelf life" of the universe by an (even more theoretically) infinite amount. What if when technology and most likely AI becomes so advanced, the need to expand and spread to other places becomes a waste of energy. Because the conservation, and how we actually use energy would become more logical then to "waste" it on travel and exploration. If we look at nature and how it uses energy, it`s almost always spent the way that it is most efficient. So if you have a life form that has mastered nano technology, rejuvenation of cells, or intigration of life to some high tech system, so that time is no longer a factor, and a lot of other things we can`t even imagine. The whole thing would be built to be energy efficient, and so would not require the need for more energy or exploration. Maybe that`s why we can`t see anything in the universe, because conservation and efficient use of energy in the end trumps travel
I always find the 'why would they visit us, we're way to dumb' mindset pretty dumb itself. I'm not quite sure, but if I'm interpreting it correctly, here's what he means:
1. Refuelling a star
Stars undergo a process called fusion, where the atoms in a star fuse with those around them, due to the extreme states of energy in the surrounding area.
2. The expansion of the universe
One of the more common theories on how the universe could end is by the "Heat death" of the universe. But maybe forever living Species just at some point have enough of this bullshit and start killing themselves idk man
@@whitehunter2545 if everything leads to a not reproducing forever living civilization, it could be that they will someday just call it quits, which is not really farfetched. The urge to reproduce is alrdy falling in the first world right now. who knows what will happen in the future.
That doesn't seem to be logical. Yes, whilst life has no inherent meaning, it doesn't mean that you can't make a meaning yourself.

What if you already lived for millions of years and literally have nothing to do
What can you have as a goal?
Surviving as long as possible?
Power? There is nothing that matters anymore if you live endlessly
What's going on in the human race. *Opens up Twitter*

If you think aliens would look down on our civilization, that's fair, but you have to remember that's exactly how the colonial europeans felt when they encountered native tribes across Africa, America and the pacifc. Would you then agree that those native tribes are so primitive they do not deserve attention or even being acknowledged as existing? Or do you think that human destiny is to be taught by this alien intelligence the proper way to exist and live. Oops, that'd literally the 'whitemans burden' ideology.
The suggestion of us being machine counter argument Dr. who’s Cyberman their story is very interesting if you can understand this thing but you know any civilization could suddenly be Cyberman just because they choose to and they are forever stuck as a machine and maybe not even a sentient machine but a cog in the machine a drone
And besides without death we would become mad beyond insanity
16:10 thats the same as with computers, how can a bunch of 1s and 0s make all of these fucking video games and AI
I love his background wish I had it
12:40 this idea would be a fuckin rad scifi series lol
No wonder this is almost 43 minutes long
