Nah I think they just did it justice. The original was "get OVER here" and it was perfect and iconic. This new one didn't try to perfectly imitate the original it just paid homage and did its own thing with "get over HEARE". Its a stupid small detail but I love it

I thought at first the armor was absorbing dmg to boost his power and send it back at the enemy but i dont think that was clearly conveyed to be happening if it was happening at all. I remember playing MK when I was 7 years old at local arcades. It’s still my favorite fighting game. The feeling I had when playing these games, when I was 7, was brought back to life thanks to these guys. Thank you.
In the movie when the guy disses cole saying he’s a human punching bag and all he does is attack and never defend it felt like a slight diss towards all the regular players who played mortal kombat basically just spamming attack buttons and combinations and never defending
And did you see the part where Kano kept getting foot swept?? To me that was a jab at people who do nothing but foot sweep in that game. Especially in the early ones.

But the first Sub-Zero never actually killed Scorpions family and entire clan, it was Quan Chi himself. You can read the story about it. That is the basic idea of how it happened. It was a set up. I appreciate how much it looks like the recent MK games have inspired the costume design, aesthetic, and kombat of the movie, but they’re still putting their own creative spin on it. Kabal looks straight out of MK11 and it’s awesome! Pumped for this
As a true Mortal Kombat fan since the 90's game, I haven't been this excited to see a movie in many years. This is the MK movie all us fans truly deserve.
Sanada is the MAN. He's the guy you call when you need a samurai in your film. From Last Samurai, The Wolverine, 47 Ronin, even Avengers:Endgame and many more...the guy is so natural in that role.
I hope its sorta like the scorpian cartoon. Scorpian is the bad guy but good guy and fkn smashes sub-zero. I used to hate my cousin playing sub zero all the time on megadrive or on an arcade machine, I finally got to a point where I mastered scorp and he cried when i beat him ever after :)
From watching this, if it was just about Scorpion and Subzero' s side, I would pay to watch it over and over. Their level in the industry, authentic style and character is just flawless and can't be replaced with their years of of experience in their career.

Oh God, I just saw this movie on internet with my 10 years old brother(he loves Mortal Kombat). He recognized them all! He was so happy when he saw Scorpion fighting Sub-Zero! And I,I was just like Wow Wow Wow Wow!! My little brother repetead after Scorpion when he said:"GET OVER HERE!" and I got chills down my spine. Epic moment for us...
One of my favorite things is Joe Taslim's facial expression with Sub Zero's eyes at 2:44, he does the same thing in the first trailer where he freezes Scorpion's blood. Makes him look scary as FUCK
I love how Sub Zero is basically the main antagonist of this film. After so many years of seeing trailers for the video games of Sub Zero always being Scorpions punching bag, seeing him getting the spotlight is fvckin epic
I watched and I approve... best MK movie ever released. Character development feels rushed but fair giving the amount characters MK has, comedy true to the source material. Great film for die-hard fans of MK and for new comers
Hiroyuki Sanada got all my respect since I saw him in The Last Samurai. Amazing actor, amazing at doing choreography, dude is 60 years old and still pulling out top martial art moves. One more to the greatest asian actors in cinema history.
i was high school when mortal kombat 2 came out.....i wasnt very good but i managed to win sometimes at the arcade. and when i did my posse would cheer.....those were the good old days. we studied our video games, without internet. it was quite difficult to get any information but we shared it and we practiced so much that if we had spent that time and effort practicing actual martial arts we could all be in mma.
they picked a perfect actor for Scorpion. First saw him in The Last Samurai, he was a badass samurai in there. Im so glad they picked him to play Scorpion.
I genuinely thought the movie did a really quality job keeping itself really self-aware, never taking it's core "multi dimensional fighting tournament" plot and roots too incredibly serious, because if it actually did, absolutely none of the jokes would have landed in the same fashion that they did. This movie took the time to shed some good light on how insane and over the top the MK universe really is, and needless to say, I quite enjoyed that it had a nice air of humor to it, while also keeping all of the action sequences incredibly over the top, some of them just absolutely unbelievable, precisely as they would be in the games. MK has pretty always had its own brand of humor ever since the first game and isn't meant to be taken with the same level of serious as some reviewers are bound to try to taking it with. For everything that it's trying to offer to the old school MK fans, I genuinely think this film absolutely delivers. Go in with light-hearted expectations properly set and you're almost bound to have a stupid fun time watching this film.

The original movie was more game accurate, I saw the movie and it's not even close. The tournament never happens, Scorpion & Subzero are actually several centuries old, Bi-Han Subzero is straight up evil, Cole is the chosen one instead of Luke Kang, their abilities are from a dragon marking, like nothing about it is really faithful

I love Joe Taslim. I liked his character in the show Warrior. He's intensity, skill and talent make him the perfect fit to play Sub Zero.
The warrior is good but the raid films made his career. That's what put him on the map.

Character development feels rushed but fair giving the amount characters MK has, comedy true to the source material.

Sorry I didn't had the privilege to play this wonderful game.

Hiroyuki Sanada got all my respect since I saw him in The Last Samurai. Amazing actor, amazing at doing choreography, dude is 60 years old and still pulling out top martial art moves. One more to the greatest asian actors in cinema history.

i was high school when mortal kombat 2 came out.....i wasnt very good but i managed to win sometimes at the arcade. and when i did my posse would cheer.....those were the good old days. we studied our video games, without internet. it was quite difficult to get any information but we shared it and we practiced so much that if we had spent that time and effort practicing actual martial arts we could all be in mma.
they picked a perfect actor for Scorpion. First saw him in The Last Samurai, he was a badass samurai in there. Im so glad they picked him to play Scorpion.
same goes for Sub-Zero. With "The Raid" and "The Night Comes For Us" Joe Taslim has starred in some of the greatest action movies post 2000

Best movie I’ve watched this year, no talk just action🔥
I genuinely thought the movie did a really quality job keeping itself really self-aware, never taking it's core "multi dimensional fighting tournament" plot and roots too incredibly serious, because if it actually did, absolutely none of the jokes would have landed in the same fashion that they did. This movie took the time to shed some good light on how insane and over the top the MK universe really is, and needless to say, I quite enjoyed that it had a nice air of humor to it, while also keeping all of the action sequences incredibly over the top, some of them just absolutely unbelievable, precisely as they would be in the games. MK has pretty always had its own brand of humor ever since the first game and isn't meant to be taken with the same level of serious as some reviewers are bound to try to taking it with. For everything that it's trying to offer to the old school MK fans, I genuinely think this film absolutely delivers. Go in with light-hearted expectations properly set and you're almost bound to have a stupid fun time watching this film.
This is my childhood best movie of all time I'm today 30 years old and you don't know how i wanted to Watch this movie again, the song still enough to boost my energy since childhood till today

"Get over here" is by far the most popular scorpion line but my fav is when Johnny cage gets sucked into scorpions lair and scorpion appears behind him with a fresh opened can of whoopass, "WELCOME"

The original movie was more game accurate, I saw the movie and it's not even close. The tournament never happens, Scorpion & Subzero are actually several centuries old, Bi-Han Subzero is straight up evil, Cole is the chosen one instead of Luke Kang, their abilities are from a dragon marking, like nothing about it is really faithful
