- Salpuri dance is a Korean folk dance, which is also regarded as a shamanistic one because the name Salpuri literally means exorcising evil spirits, demons, and bad luck.
Salpuri dance can be performed in different styles, and this is the one developed and preserved by the late Lee Mae-bang, who was Korea's best traditional dance virtuoso.
I upload this video because I want to celebrate the new year 2017 with you. I hope this Salpuri dance will make your new year free of bad luck and full only of good luck.

동감..한국전통춤...진짜 우아한건 알고있었지만..
느려서 지루한지 알았늗데..
실제 바로 눈앞에서 봤는데
그런 사람 홀리는 느낌 처음받아봤음..
절제된 움직임인데 정말 깃털처럼 가볍고..
외모도 인형같이 예뻤는데..약간사람 움직임이 아닌듯한..
그오묘한느낌 절대 화면에 못담음..
살풀이는 인간이 가장슬플때 추는 춤이라오~
웃음과 미소를 지으면 안되는
무표정 춤이라오..
가장슬픈춤으로 마음을 위로하는 춤이라는 사실을~~~
경지에 이른 팔순의 노지휘자처럼 춤추시는듯. 저는 풋풋하게 열심인 편이 더 좋아보이네요.

She learned it for more than 10 years, performed in many countries introducing Korean culture with her former team "Little Angels" since she was a kid, and even she's still studying it now at Ewha Women University. The dance looks like a female ghost dancing in the rice field or at the graveyard to entertain herself. The music sounds like the wailings of the dead spirits in the underworld. This is what I interpret from this traditional Korean art--- no offence intended.

this dance was performed to sublimate extreme sadness into joy or to get rid of bad luck and wish for happiness. So you have to wear neat white clothes and dance with reverence.

이 살풀이 춤은 영혼을 달래는 춤이라고 들었는데 미소짖는 모습은 아니다 싶다
한풀고 신나게 놀고 가란거 맞아요 울고 웃고 다풀라고
그러면 울상지으까
웃어도됨...슬픔을 승화하는것임.
사람마다 다른데 주로 울상이거나 청승 맞은 표정을 메인으로 하고 아예 오열하면서 추는 경우도 있어요 (ex: 공옥진 여사) 후반부에 장단 바뀌면 치마끈 묶고 부채 들고 허튼춤으로 바뀌기도 하고 사람이나 장소마다 다른 거 같아요 살풀이라는 게 워낙 다양한 곳에서 추는 춤이어서...기방에서도 추고 무슨 행사 전에도, 굿에서도 추고 장터에서도 추고...
애절한 슬푼 표정지어야 하는데. 공연킅나면. 많은 촐연 료받을. 기뿐생각에. 살며시. 미소
