    Should be able to use masking so that a different model can be used for the cat and the background - get the best of both worlds.

    One thing Topaz could do to greatly improve this is allow you to change what's in the left panel. Instead of always having the original image, it would be helpful if you could compare 2 different AI results side by side. For example, "Low Resolution" in the left panel and "Very Compressed" in the right panel. The results might not be as quick but with the new, faster AI engine they're using, it might still be ok.

      Tom that is a great suggestion. I can almost bet they will do that in an upcoming update. It makes perfect sense...

    Sounds like we need a 'mask' option, such as found on Sharpen AI.. Could one then run multiple passes on a given image, using the mask option to include, or not include, specific areas of said image? As in your example, you liked the kittens eye 'Very Compressed', but not what that AI mode did to the hair in the ear.. So, adding a 'masking' option would really open up a lot more creativity.. What do you think?

    Definitely agree Dave it’s a lot faster!!
    But I noticed you do a lot of JPEGs images not raw so much.
    Also can you make a video on color bleed I never know when to turn it on or off. Like I’ve always say (you the man) thank u 😍

    I have really enjoyed all of your tutorials Dave! Very well done and this one sold me on buying Gigapixel AI. It is a tool to use with the lower resolution of my Canon R6 when I want to increase the resolution to print an image, especially when I crop in on an image.

    Dave, I like this video. It was very informative. One thing. I downloaded the image of the bird to run through Gigapixel AI and that Line artifact that you mention in the video was not there in the image I downloaded. For me, the Art & CG Model worked better for the Bird image. With the other two images your settings were the best. Thanks.

    Hi Dave... I grabbed the coupon and grab the bundle of Topaz. When using Gigapixel... is it normally at the end of production or beginning and end?... when do you use it. I have many images I would like to expand... this would be after things are done... but say I have an image straight from the iPhone and I want a larger print when done.

      I usually do it at the end of the edit and have had great results. You could try it both ways and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for using my promo code and enjoy the software.

    Nice vid again Dave! I think the Lion was a little out of focus and processing it first with Sharpen AI would have helped Gigapixel a lot.

    Thanks for the video, but are you picking the settings randomly? Your images aren't low-res but 1920x1200, which is a pretty good. And you should get rid of the specific artifact in Photoshop or another app, and then enhance the image with Gigapixel AI.

    Excellent video... But I'm a little confused about the need for Gigapixel vs. Sharpen AI. I understand the use of upsizing from a smaller image in Gigapixel. But is the sharpening better than using Sharpen AI?--I'm guessing it's probably better because you're adding pixels.
    Thanks, Dave.

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly

      I think of GigaPixel as a product to upscale images or bring back life to old compressed low resolution jpeg images, much like Jpeg to Raw does. If an image doesn't need upsized I don't useGigaPixel Ai.( I mainly use it for images that I crop in tight and am losing pixels) I think of DeNoise Ai and Sharpen Ai as my first stops in my RAW editing workflow. I am not sure how Topaz is handling sharpening in GigaPixel Ai. It does an excellent job at both sharpening and noise removal, but its real purpose is for upsizing. The fact that it sharpens and does such an excellent job of removing noise is a big plus, especially for old jpeg files. If you have older images that need upsizing and they are a bit soft and noisy then GigaPixel will amaze you with the way it handles the image. It generally will come out looking better than it went in, meaning no noise and a lot sharper.... Sharpen Ai's main purpose is to bring sharpness back to soft images that are suffering from Camera Movement due to hand holding and shooting with to slow of a shutter speed and also for images that you didn't quite get the focus right in camera. I don't know if GigaPixel is employing this same kind of technology that Sharpen Ai is but it very well could be.

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  3 роки тому

      If your image has already been processed, just let GigaPixel handle the noise removal and sharpening. If the image isn't yet processed, I would remove the noise first and then sharpen.

    Why does Gigapixel change the color of the picture in dng? Also if i import the file into lightroom i can not load camera profiles anymore and not all lens correction options are there anymore there are some weird things with the manner Topaz makes dng files. For instance i can not open the dng files in DxO Photolab. Same counts for Sharpen AI and Denoise AI. I hooe they will change this… however i like Gigapixel AI only have to find the best way to work with is…

    Hi Dave, I just went thru your link , and bought Gigapixel AI, I now have in Lightroom , but still do not see in Photoshop? Under filters and under Automate. Do you have a suggestion what I can do to have it in PS? I appreciate your help,, thanks is advance !

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  3 роки тому

      Thanks for using my link Sylvia...In Photoshop it should live in FILE/AUTOMATE/Topaz GigaPixel Ai.... Did you have Photoshop closed when you installed GigaPixel Ai? I find it is a good practice to have all the software that uses GigaPixel Ai closed before installing it... Try closing Photoshop and then reopen it and go to the Menu at the top Left side of Photoshop and Open File/Automate and you should find GigaPixel Ai living in there. Hopefully it will be there. If not you should do an uninstall using the GigaPixel Ai Uninstaller and then close down Lightroom and Photoshop and then re-install GigaPixel and hopefully that will fix the issue with Photoshop.

    Thanks for the comparison, Dave! However, if it comes to processing wildlife images (mostly birds) taken with a current camera I found that GigaPixel can't compete with Denoise and especially Sharpen. In my opinion details are rendered more naturally. What do you think about the competition GigaPixel VS Denoise + Sharpen?

    • @librarycollection3795
      @librarycollection3795 3 роки тому +1

      I can see why you think there is a competition but there really isn't. Gigapixel is not designed to enhance details in your image. It was designed specifically to take a small image and make it bigger with NO loss of detail. This is different from boosting detail in an out-of-focus image which Sharpen AI does. These programs have 2 different uses. Each one of them is a solution for a different problem. Denoise, of course, is specifically for the elimination of noise in the image.

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  3 роки тому +1

      You can use RAW files. My workflow is to do very light editing in Lightroom and then DeNoise and Sharpen with either DeNoise Ai or Sharpen Ai or both if needed. The only reason I use Sharpen Ai is for images that I missed the focus or had a camera movement issues causing an out of focus image. If the image is relatively sharp I only use DeNoise Ai...If I have focus issues and an ISO over 1000 for my camera I will then use DeNoise Ai and Sharpen Ai. I will also DeNoise before sharpening...

      Do you have a fast internet connection? If you don’t you can go to Preferences in Gigapixel and and shut the Download Models feature. This could be effecting your performance. If you shut that off it won’t alter the output quality.
