If you ever get any whimpy, limp celery, green onion, romaine lettuce, parsley or other leafy vegetables or herbs, try soaking them in ice water for about 15-30 minutes it usually perks them right back up again. 😊
Another tip: roll your package of bacon real tight like a newspaper before you open it… the slices won’t stick together 😊
Trying adding a little bit of Worcestershire sauce to your cocktail sauce, it makes it taste better.

here is my cabbage salad recipe-I always get asked to make and bring it along--either a bag of pre shredded with red cabbage etc or I shred cabbage--I use miracle whip, add some sugar and vinegar-taste it to see if it's not too sweet or sour, mix it all together and put paprika on the top of it. 2 more recipes with cabbage---cut up bacon and dice onions put into fry pan and fry until your favourite bacon type, shred cabbage and put into frypan and fry in bacon/onion grease, boil egg noodles. Mix everything together--it's like a goulash, I was told it was called Kapushtasta. The next recipe-lazy man's cabbage rolls---brown ground beef, shred cabbage, dry rice. Layer items and I put either tomato sauce or tomato juice on it. I make it in a roaster and cook until cabbage and rice are soft. Hope you enjoy! :)

I of course shared with a neighbor. I sincerely want to thank you for the videos and showing me how to do this. It's so freaking easy and not illegal where I live. Amy, my MIL used to use any left over cooked pork in pasta sauce. If it had bone, she'd toss it in, and fish it out before serving. The ribs reminded me of that, not that those little ribs will end up left over. LOL. It was truly delicious and didn't make the sauce taste particularly "porky". Good way to use leftovers.

Frugal Mommy, if you love horseradish, here's one way to enjoy it: Boil beef breast in a beef broth, add a few stalks of celery, a carrot, roughly cut up, one medium sized onion. Simmer until beef is very tender, but not yet falling apart. While the beef is simmering, cut up starchy potatoes, peeled, steam some kale or broccoli. In a saucepan make a roux, add the horseradish, as much as you like, heat carefully, adding some of the broth the beef is boiling in. Cut the beef in thin slices, put two or three slices on a plate, add the veg and potatoes, ladle your horseradish sauce on top. Enjoy! It is a winter dish that keeps you warm.

If you like tangy food, next time try making coleslaw this way---- cabbage, carrot, mix with miracle whip and add garlic to get the tang. This is how we made it in our restaurant to go with our fish fries on Friday. We would have customers request extra coleslaw because they liked it so much. Give it a try. DC

I do the same concept on the stove with the green beans. I start out with olive oil and slice up garlic to fry in the oil. I remove the garlic and add the green beans. I put the cover on to steam them through a bit and then turn the temp up and stir fry them. When almost done I add the garlic back into the pan. I add a bit of salt and pepper and even some added garlic powder because I really like garlic. My husband was not a green bean fan before eating them this way. I do the same thing with asparagus. I used to do the asparagus in the oven like you did but my husband likes the stove top stir fry because it gets nice and charred on some of the pieces and he loves that. Looking forward to the dumpster diving cookbook,

Horseradish is great in coleslaw. You should give it a try.

Awesome diving again. What a great idea for a cookbook. I’ve never done beans like this but I do Brussels sprouts like this to die for.

I would Highly recommend you get a pressure canner. You could be canning up a lot of the meat you rescue for the future as prices just keep going up. And even if you are getting it for free it will be good for at least 5 years ☺️.. plus it's easy to make quick meals with.

For my coleslaw dressing - in a bowl add large scoops of Mayo, add couple tablespoons of sugar and then add vinegar start with table spoon and stir until smooth. Taste and add sugar or vinegar to taste. Depending how much cabbage you have you will need to find the right about if Mayo - but add the dressing stir and if you like but think too thick refrigerate first as once it sits a while it will thin the dressing with the liquid in the cabbage
