Unfortunately, you cannot have both "Technology Advancement" and "Easy Living" at the same time. US is so into containing China because China is developing technology fast and well. If all Chinese are willing to be second class to the West, then it would be okay to take it easy, use others technology, and stay on doing non-tech things like restaurants, immigration consultants, tourism, so on. But China both cannot and should not rely on such low-tech for years and years. One day China needs to move up the value chain, and unfortunately things become competitive. Also China and India are old countries, that means high population density. We were not like Europeans who had a history of colonization to expand, to take over new land so some people can "take it easy" from harvesting the loots.
