- 84-year-old Margaret was a contestant on "The Price is Right" and had a chance to win a $16,000 car, all she had to do was get a hole-in-one. She had a quick lesson from Drew Carey and then went for it and missed! But thankfully the game is called... #InsideEdition
She seems very energetic for an 84 year old woman. Wishing her continued good health and many more birthdays.

I hope people realize that when you "win the car" you might not get anything because you have to sign a contract where the car is from a third-party company, and it legally does not have to be provided. But if you do get the car you will have to pay to get it registered and have it initially inspected and pay at least 50% of the MSRP to taxes (contestants including those outside California have to pay California income taxes). They also make you pay *BEFORE* you get the car *AND* the car could push you into a higher tax bracket! A car is never the best win after all

Being in a higher tax bracket only applies to the income within that tax bracket. It doesn't mean you pay more on income less than that threshold.
If you take the car, even if you sell it straight away, you will make a handsome profit. Regardless of the taxes, the car is a good prize. "Might not get anything" is complete trash. If you didn't get a car, they'd be shamed into giving you a car. You're being ridiculous.

I would say that whether she can drive or not, she would probably have to sell it, if she was able to accept it at all. She would need to pay the taxes before she could even take possession of it to sell it.

In the USA, that “free $60,000 car” will still cost her like $25,000-$30,000 in taxes. Don’t get me wrong. That’s still one hell of a great discount IF you can afford to pay the taxes. Here in Canada, it would actually be a free car.
