I remember when you were on the Arsenio Hall show and he asked you if you could thumb when you were a guest bassist… For someone who doesn’t really play that style, the double thumb’s not bad, although I don’t think your tone lends itself to that style of music. Also, most bassists that I see playing that style normally have their right hand closer to the neck. As you know, where your right hand is when you play changes the sound you get out of the instrument. 👍
Such a great motivating instructor and incredible player.
At least I know my slap technique is slightly better than Jeff Berlin’s 😅
So true what Jeff spoke at the end.
Good Advise Jeff, I have been plYing for 45 yrs & its a continual growth process .
Reminds me of when OJ tried on the glove. If you don't want it to fit it won't.
Love these lessons thanks!
Good double thumb. Thank you for the tip. Again I totally agree
Great lesson
This is a really cool post! You make great points here, jeff. Have a great weekend maestro! ❤️
Jeff , I like your thumb technique ! And , I think I also get your thoughts on perceived time …..Good video 👍🏻

Fantastic lesson and advice, Jeff! But to say you're terrible at slapping? Have you ever heard 5G by BRUFORD! Sounds great to me!!

To piggyback on your comment, I was told slap should have the string “clack” off the fret wire.
Bassline
5G👍🏾
dude get around alain caron ,brian bromberg ,henrick linder. you probably will slap like a monster after wards.
Slap has to be the most unnatural technique for a bass player.
