And if you raise the limiter to 6750rpm and fit a shorter final drive you can get to 60mph in under 6 seconds in the 330 and about 6.5 seconds in the 325! Great gearbox, takes plenty of abuse

Upto 140kph the 325i lost by about 6/7kph which was by not being to hit 100kph in 2nd if not for that they were equal but after 140kph the 330i Higher bhp starts to show, from 140kph -200kph the 330i opens up another 15kph so when 330 hit 200kph 325 was about 180kph . 330i Power is impressive
i dont understand this?! You see my 325 ci from 2002, even yesterday ived tried, goes in 2 gear nearly 100 (i guess it would be 95 km/h), Third gear would go till 145 km/h....and in 4th gear 200 km/h, and then i have to go to 5th gear. I got original BBS 17 inch and my motor is so good...i dont understand at all....coz it has 345.000 km on it. Its a beautifull car and i can drive as hard as i want. Maby because the first owner and i take/took care of the engine and all...what a car! What a car... What i see on the video is that my 325 ci drives exactly as the 330i...and thats strange isnt it?

Oben rum ist der 325i aber irgendwie munterer und hört sich kerniger an als mein 323ci. Vmax tun sich beide aber nicht viel. Bei mir stehen auch immer die 240 auf der Uhr. Wobei ich dann nicht am Begrenzer bin. Und meine Auspuffrohre sind nicht schwarz sondern absolut sauber. Der M54 soll ja andere Kolbenringe haben und ab und zu mehr Öl fressen als der M52TU. Am M52TU finde ich den Drehmoment Verlauf untenrum sehr schön, aber oben raus ab 5500 U/min merkt man das der M52TU irgendwie nicht so schön drehfreudig ist wie die M54 Motoren. Hatte auch mal einen 325ti Compact mit dem M54. Genau so wie einen E39 520i aus 97. Einen E39 528i aus 99 und nun halt den 323ci aus 99.

You have the sport chassis of the 330ci, sport seat, etc. You really have a great e46 in every way. Except, maybe, the look.. but! We jumped on the first e46 6 cyl in great shape we found. It was a blue 325ti so.. It was a year ago, and today I honestly find it beautiful. We just painted the « grey shock bands » in blue and it really changes the whole looking. You probably don’t give a damn, I just wanted to express myself lol. ❤️

I’ve been working and driving American muscle for quite some time now. I bought a 2005 330 convertible to convert to a drift car and it’s easily the smoothest car I’ve driven while still feeling powerful for how small it is. It’s great on gas too. I’m debating on keeping it as a daily driver instead of a drift car.

I have a 3.46 diff fitted to a 330ci with the 6 speed manual. It's as quick as a 350Z in the mid range now. It really needs a raised rev limit to improve 0-60 though.
@@davecom3 debating on purchasing a 6 speed..I have a 5 speed in now. When swapping my engine there will be no better time to upgrade clutch and transmission.
@@camdvrk0 the 5 speed is great to be honest, unless it's causing problems hold onto it, or you do a lot of motorway driving. The 6th gear is really needed jn the 325 and 330 for the latter.
yes but cars like this are created to do things like that, accelerations, driffting, revs ect...I have 350Z its also 15 years old and I'm not afraid of damaging engine, just good oil and frequent changes and it should be ok. Don't you think ?
@@noid900 you do realise a 350z engine, is SOOO much easier and cheaper to fix than a BMW one right...? A 350z is literally made to be thrashed around like crazy, as opposed to the 330ci, which is more of cruiser.
@@WolfieNamira yeah i heard that too, i have a lightweight fleywheel on my e46 330 and i remember having better launches with the stock flywheel , but its not like im racing 2 times a week i rarely do a luanch , but i do notice ther rpms shoot up way faster with the lightweight , i also seen somewhere that everypound resuced at the crank aka flywheel gives you 2 more horspower , so my fly wheel compared to stock was 10 pounds lighter so its like gainer 20 horsepower i did notice my car feel faster when i installed the lightweight flywheel but my clutch was also bad before i switched over so i cant tell if the new clutch was the kick but overall its worth it
There is no reason at all to buy a 325ci when you can get a 330ci. The difference in performance is drastic, the difference in fuel economy and parts is negligible. The 330ci is the way to go.

Driving for a long ditance at a time doesnt want to stop every 100km to fill up again to the max 2. driving faster for some time doenst want to stop the fun for unnecessary fueling up 3. wanting to have the fastest acceleration 4, safe fuel by not filling up to max by reducing wait. the fuel gauge doesnt mean anything and for the last one he lives near germany here you can get an 330 with his mileage for as low as 3 grand
My 325ci manual has a b30 manifold, b30 Tb, b30 intakeboot & maf. I’m running 238hp on a performance b30 map. I kept the b30 injectors too. I think you’ll only see my tail lights 😂😎

So many people just rev it out and dump the clutch. That 325i launch was so smooth and might of even been faster due to lack of wheel spin.

I heard the lightweight flywheel actually makes the acceleration from stop worse, but the acceleration while driving better.

Bin beide gefahren. 325i ist 4 sekunden langsamer als der 330i von 0-200kmh bzw. 10kmh machen das aus. Gefühlt war es sogar gleich.

No, the higher the revs the more power output before shifting gears
Its actuall the reverse. The 2.5 is an under square engine and revs higher. Shorter stroke. Both engines have same bore.
