    Not a huge comic guy, but the depth of knowledge and the passion of our favorite bartender cannot be ignored!!

      Yep. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since then. If you are interested, there are a number of other Ultraverse-centric episodes already posted in Geekview Tavern and there are sure to be more. If you're a Facebook person, there is a fun/active Ultraverse group there which I highly recommend. Plus there is also the Ultra-Monthly Podcast. Thanks for the watch and the comment. Much appreciated.

    I think this makes the situation with Ultraverse even more head scratching because there's really nothing to stop them from having the line come back. I wonder why they can't simply just reprint old issues at least and and guage interest?

      Marvel doesn't want to publish any comics that they are not grooming for a movie/TV deal. And as they appear to be actively trying to avoid a movie/TV deal for the Ultraverse, there won't be any comics. But as time goes time, these things tend to change ...

      @@florianneumann9441 I think you're right. As Tom pointed out, unless some obvious, easy money is attached, like a big director demanding to make a movie based on the Ultraverse, we're unlikely to see Marvel/Disney break the characters "out of the vault."

    I had been wondering about the rights to the characters, and this answers those questions. One thing I have always wondered about since the first appearance of Chelsea Clinton in Prime was whether there was any commentary from the White House regarding using her as a recurring support character?

    • @geekview
      @geekview  Рік тому

      It never occurred to me that was a thing that could happen. As far as I know, Malibu was never contacted by the White House about Chelsea's appearances.

      I agree with you. Let’s put our heads together and recruit an A-List director to pull the Ultraverse From the dust bin

    Whenever I get bummed about the fact that good universes like this and Crossgen are no longer around, I remind myself that Marvel bought them and at least didn’t run them into the ground or mess them up royally like they did with their own books.

      Thanks for the kind words. So pleased the efforts of the Malibu staff and creators are still appreciated.

    I'd always heard that Marvel never used the Ultraverse characters because they didn't want to pay the creators . From what this panel revealed, it's not a whole lot of money.

      So glad you stopped by for a visit. Another terrific Ultraverse episode is right around the corner, so be sure to subscribe and hit the bell to get notified. We appreciate you!
      IMHO. It has nothing to do with the money they were contracted to pay creators or the founding fathers as part of the creator equity or royalties. Marvel has different reasons if you ask me.

    Valiant and Ultraverse taught me that I’m not just a DC or Marvel fan, I love comic books in general.

    Marvel screwed up the Ultraverse, plain and simple.

      Not entirely Marvel's fault. It was a time of great upheaval and collapsing sales figures.

    wish Marvel revived Malibu comics characters, and waved them in into Marvel universe, since "NEW" characters from Marvel themself is such lame LGBT+ soulless propaganda .. like 2012-2023 there 8 good characters been made in 11 WOKE years... ffs it's fiasco of comic industry and all these purple hair cat-lady-writers ruined it
