This takes me back. This show... I grew up with this show. It was one of my favorites... though I don't think I saw this episode. The story in the episode, is one that I'm sure just about everyone has heard. It has been re-told time and time again in different and various ways. Thanks for putting this on here.
How I miss this show and shows of the same period. This was, no scratch that, this is one of my favorite shows, I grew up on Wishbone, now I won't lie and say I'm a bigger reader today, but Wishbone got me interested in books, especially this two parter, though I must admit watching it back then I was terrified and hell I still am, to a point, that last scene with the eyes is just plain scary, but I'm starting to ramble on. So to finish I say this, Wishbone is a great show and I miss it dearly.
Part one cut off short after a minute. That made me sad. I am glad part two is working. I love Wishbone so much! I would love to own the complete series on DVD.
22 & same! whenever i watch stuff for kids today, i can help but think "it was better when i was younger". then, i figure, i probably appreciated them more because i was younger...but watching the shows of my youth (ah, so long ago, haha) now, we had it much better off quality-wise.
Watching this episode is a tradition in my house. Unfortunately, we just had it taped off of the TV, and we got a DVD player with no VCR player for Christmas.
I have the plush dog that had 5 press point on it. One in the left ear, right paw, nose, spot on his back and on the tail. He has a cool manufactures defect where he smiles whereas all the others I have seen frown. It make him all the more special
I always found it so awesome that they were able to train Soccer Dog/Wishbone to respond sharply! Wishbone is still my favorite show even though its gone.
I agree! I loved the episodes and the books! I have a whole shoebox of the books!! I actually have the book basked off this episode! It's my favorite book! I love how Wishbone compares his life to stories by famous authors.
@HeWasTaken I'm 23 almost 24, and I STILL love this show! I used to have to watch it everyday after school or I wasn't happy! LOL! I was like 8 or 9 at the time
It's amazing how well-trained that dog was! I miss this show to this and there's one that I can't remember the name of. there was hammy the hamster and a guinea pig and they lived in a boot. anyone remember that one?
I would love if they put Wishbone back on the air . I remember being excited about staying home from school because it meant i would get to watch Wishbone =)
LOL Wishbone's voice is perfect for Ichabod Crane!!! Johnny Depp's was pretty good too but I always imagined him to sound like the voice Wishbone is doing
@miinoluvshytie Jack Russel Terrier....cute dogs if you can keep up with them! I used to watch this show when I was a kid, always wanted one, then after I moved out my mom got one!
He passed away, I can't exactly remember WHY he passed away though. Hmm... It's been years since I watched this show on PBS, however, Joe's dad has been dead since the beginning of the series, but they do mention him from time to time.
i loved to watch wishbone everytime that it aired ,now adays educational shows are not what they used to be now wishbone was a great and still is a great show, however my other favorite shows that i miss george shrinks and arthur saying so i still watch it from time to time. and im 21 so who cares wishbone and george shrinks were so entertaining.
The ONLY reason I'm checking the comments is because I KNEW someone was going to say that before I got a chance to. And SURPRISE, right on the front page
