Agreed! brilliant game, Wife and I played it through in 2020 (co-op) and have both just restarted the release version - Terrifying! No longer can I just jump onto a branch to get safe from the beasties. The wolf spider and others now just jump and climb up after you. Only 6 hours in so far, but I'm hoping they have added in 50-mag grenade launchers. Cheers for all you do Mac
Played it in 2020 and it was already obvious it was going to be great... sunk in loads of time on it and enjoyed the co-op. Tried it again over a year ago and was shocked at how much more had been added... genuinely an amazing game; it's fun, it looks beautiful, sounds great, has some depth to it's systems, awesome with friends and also requires a regular change of underwear. What more could you want.
I've watched my friend play this in early access over the course of the last two years. Finally picked it up for myself last week and I've been having a blast with friends. It's such a hidden gem in an otherwise stale year for gaming. I was astonished when my friends and I actually found the ants stashing food next to this watering hole, we saw them collecting it and walking back so we followed them, the A.I in this game is next level.
Had a few really amazing sessions of this. Remember the night me and my friends spent terrified trying to hide from a very persistent wolf spider, boy that was tense.
Useless Fact: This is one of the original titles for "Honey, I shrunk the kids", which I randomly discovered last night before randomly seeing this game on Steam this morning. So I presume they "nicked" it from that, using a thrown away title for a film the game pays homage to.
I have built a small base around an old soda can so I can grab my spear and mount a gnat hunting expeddition to a nearby pond. Honestly, never played a survival game before and this is the most fun I have had in a game in a long while. I am also terrified of spiders and not fond of bugs in general, so yeah my butt is clenched most of the time.
Thank you Mack, I agree - this game is an absolute treat. I waited for full release to play, so it's all been new to me. I am hooked! It immediately joined the ranks alongside Valheim and Subnautica for me
Mack: I don't think there's a more immersive game out there. Valheim players who bought the game on Mack's approval: 👁👃👁 jk guys, this game looked amazing on Steam News and this review just sells it to me! Definitely WAB!
My husband and I just started playing this game last night. Maybe 3 hours. We're already addicted, can't wait to get back to it. Our fav game so far is Valheim. This game is kickin' butt! Thanks for your review, we always check your videos out before we purchase.
Got this on Game Pass, unfortunately there was no sound on Xbox fpr some reason so had to install on PC. Been playing this evening and am loving it. Was chased by some nasty bugs and got scared as hell.
I absolutely have always loved your videos, like this one right here. The way you get so excited about the game makes me want to buy it, just about every game you have ever been excited about, i have bought and never been disappointed. So when a game isn't your cup of tea, i stay away from it.
Loved this game played it during an Open BETA back in 2020. enjoyed playing with my brother been following development since then as i loved it so much, just bought it again as this year has been so stale and i really want something to seek my teeth into while im not working so this will be the game. great review as always :)
Wooh, glad to see this! I saw this earlier today on Steam (or was it yesterday, I can't remember), and went looking for a decent review, and was a bit miffed to see that you hadn't covered it yet (not that that would stop me from buying it, I am just burned out with survival games and wont buy another one until I am certain it is worth it). I haven't watched it yet (I jumped straight to the comments), but I am looking forward to hearing your take on it.
I hope this is moddable for Arachnophobia Plus where they change the models to look "Realistic" with fuzz and beadier eyes, and nastier animations. And then the rest of the bugs to look NASTY and then some gore to fit the death descriptions.
This game shows youths how to live a sustainable future using limited means, decreasing their human footprints and learning how to appreciate eating tze boogs. We at tze WEF approve of this message!
Even though this is not the kind of game Obsidian is known for, I think it's their best work. It's certainly my favorite from among their games (I'm not a New Vegas worshipper).
Genuinely captivating exploration and discovery.Accessible but deep. Incredibly fun and occasionally terrifying. And it looks and runs great. Not enough narrative driven survival games
now then now then. i remember, was it CS 1.6 or which CS version, those maps where you were small as the little antsies in maps who were gigantic, one was named KITCHEN afair. i used to play myself silly over those.
Spiders in this are tame compared to the ones in Earth Defense Force. Once those guys spray webbing on you you are stuck and it's like being stun locked by a pro-player in Marvel Vs Capcom doing some crazy infinite combo. LOL And guess what? You don't see one giant spider. You have hordes of them so expect multiple webs and multiple attacks from all sides. You think you can get away in a tank, mech or armored troop carrier? Oh no. That just makes you a bigger target for the web shots so it completely gets destroyed within seconds of the horde on top of you. Only solution is be good at dodging last second, have better weapons, or call airstrike that is focused shot from above. Otherwise just hope you have bullets that go through enemies or a flamethrower to kill them efficiently. The ants are pretty scary too but they can't hang in the air on the web to shoot at you from high angle.
Mack are you planning on making streams talking about the new Game of Thrones series? I remember you did something like that for the originals or maybe it was a few rants at the end.
Yess this game is one of the ways to normalize us eating ze bugs... yes yes... Klaus Schwab must be very happy that soon all of us will 'own nothing and be eating ze bugs...'
Mack please try out the newly released game *Metal: Hellsinger!* It is such a great game - essentially Doom as a rhythm game. It deserves more recognition and even has a free demo to try out!
An original title for the film was "Grounded" among other possible titles(All found out by the Minty Comedic Arts channel of "Ten things you didn't know about..." series he does). I do not think this was a coincidence. The film could have been called Teenie Weenies (original name of the idea).
This review is so wholesome, you can just feel his love of gaming
Yeah "shit" and bleeped out "fucks" make for family wholesomeness😄
You will eat zee bugs,
You will live in the grass hut,
You will have an empty inventory,
And you will be happy
Lmao
Me and my mates played this a fair bit. More likely to get a bunch of 40 year olds running around screaming than any true horror game.
Me and my other over 40 friends just redownloaded it 🤣
41 here hahaha
LOL A whole shitload of 40+ year olds where playing Resident Evil and Silent Hill when you and your mates where still shitting your diapers .
37 here, going to get my dad into it lol.
@@noxid86 nice! It's a pretty special experience

This game is a textbook example of how to develope a game the right way. Devs did a great job!
Schwab's wet dream of a game. Zee bugs are good for you.
For The algorithm
Indeed all hail
For the game
FOR THE EMPEROR!
Same
Great to hear that this works as SP game as well. Nothing as frustrating as looking forward to a game, only to realise it really works only in coop.

You VILL eat ze bugs
You VILL own ze game
and you VILL be happy
"You vill eat ze bugs, unt be happy" doesn't look so bad now actually...
'Some of the A.I. is a bit buggy'
IS that actually a negative? 🤣
Lmao you win

Nice Klaus Schwab reference 😁🦗🐞🪳

@Adamack Beats can you play open world without doing quests ?
@@BlackGold-fc7tu Yes, there is also a creative mode in which you can basically just use it as a big sandbox
subnautica is fun but the performance issues absolutely kill the game at times for me.
love when people who actually play games also review em
Even better when they make them.
I hope they do a VR version of this.
I can’t watch it bc I know they’re spiders and I don’t like them.
Its an Unreal Engine 4 game, so the UE VR Injector mod should just work with it!
@@Oopsie223 lame
Someone already modded in a VR version saw it on Twitter was pretty neat
Spiders in VR! I would need adult diapers. . . .
This game is wonderful, it made me re-watch Honey I shrunk the Kids. We recently played 3 players when the Pond update came out. 5/5

jk guys, this game looked amazing on Steam News and this review just sells it to me! Definitely WAB!
Valheim is definitely also a great game. Only thing holding it back is the slow updates.
I found valheim is too much of a grind and farm fest
The metal grind is ass. Most of the rest is reasonable@@BlackGold-fc7tu
looks good mack, sorry to hear moving into the bungalow is taking up so much time. getting things through the loft hatch must be a pain!
Ah that will be mint bungalows are expensive I'm really pleased I helped mack buy this on patreom
@@richbear5178 no streamer more deserving of a nice bung+allotment
THANK YOU, MACK!!! For finally compressing the audio on your voice recording, I can hear you clear as crystal without having to jack up my volume.
So it's the game version of Honey, I Shrunk The Kids?
Pretty much
I saw it in theaters.
Great review. A VR version would be epic.
This is probably the only way I'll be forced to eat Z bugs but not at the hands of that bastard and you know who I'm talking about

I've played this with my kids, it's brilliant.
So it is full release now and the game still has all the bugs from early access - perfect! :)
So happy to see this one get a good review!

me and my friends all have sound and your the first person ive heard that doesnt.....must have corrupted somehow

It's been over two years but damn worth the wait to play this game once it's been findally out of Early Access.
Me and my brother have been playing this since it first and out on preview, and we have been impressed through out, and love it to pieces
Honey I Shrunk the Mack.
Just shows Mack when great ideas are implemented great games. 👍
I saw the movie in theaters! It's a classic!
Man's killing it recently, good videos last few weeks, seems in a good mood, hope it lasts , cheers!
I might try this if it was split screen with someone, but there's no way I'm going to be sitting in a room playing this by myself.
Yes! I was hoping you would review this! lol I missed the first review I guess...
It's shame these developers launched a game full of bugs.
I played this like two years ago with my nephew. I bet it's changed alot
I'm sold
Not touched the game since it first went into EA but i cant wait to dive back in for the release.

Please review Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter. It looks like a good game.
This is all me and my brother have played for the past week.
The theme tune to Grounded reminds me a lot of the Fallout theme.
Definitely gonna check this out
I saw 'Honey, I Shrunk The Kids' in theaters.' I wonder how many others can say that.😉

Looking forward to the Australian backyard DLC.
You mean nightmare mode?
Just some harmless Funnel web spiders along with a swooping magpie along with a nasty centipede or two... Oh and snakes, lots of snakes.
Hi Mack, would you WAB Mist Survival ?
How many players can you have in coop at maximum? Is it a max of 4 players?
4 player max
I can't believe the original preview was 2020. Feels like a few weeks ago wtf is going on
2:00 looks like the Tin Man from Return to Oz.

I recommend disabling the depth of field from the files. The game is alot better looking especially at night without it.
Is it worth getting this for single player only?
yes
I saw that 2560x1080 wasn't listed as a resolution. But they have 2560x1440. I wonder why?

Hey Mack, are you planning on reviewing Salt 2? I remember you revied the first years ago. Looks like a good indie game.
Don't bother the dev abandoned Salt 1 and took it out early access too soon.
I know the story, I watched the movies.
Very grounded review! 👌🏼
