Depends on the weather, field 2 there is a mat that makes the sand more manageable for those who may need it. It's a short walk to the water but the beach is long east and west of the concession and parking lot. There are several different places to enter the sand.
There is a "state park bbq" area, metal raised bbq's in a picnic area, but the beach prohibits BBQ and/or fires outside of the provided BBQ's. The concession, while pricey has a full on BAR as well as beach fair, such as hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, beer, ice cream
