  • A registered Ontario-bred filly by Souper Speedy out of Kin's Ghost, our filly Skylight Caper is named after one the world’s greatest unsolved art thefts and the most valuable museum heist in Canadian history. At the 2023 Canadian Premier Yearling Sale, we bought Skylight Caper in partnership with Terra Racing Stable who subsequently became members of the Canuck Racing Club. She is trained by Kevin Attard.
The original Skylight Caper took place on September 4, 1972, the day Canada’s hockey team won game two against the USSR to tie the Summit Series. In the early morning hours, three individuals snuck into the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts through a skylight. After incapacitating three guards without hurting anyone, the thieves spent 30 minutes gathering paintings and artifacts before tripping an alarm. They left with an immensely valuable haul of 18 paintings (including a rare Rembrandt), 39 figurines, and pieces of jewellery valued at a combined $2 million to $5 million at that time. That haul is estimated to be worth well over $40 million today.
The masterminds of the Skylight Caper left behind no clues, information, or suspects. The museum heist is considered one of the most daring in modern history. The theft remains unsolved to this day.
On August 3 2024, our Skylight Caper won for the first time in a $111,300 maiden race for two-year-old fillies at Woodbine Racecourse in Ontario.
