That looks so much easier than how I've been doing it

It is a very simple process and usually done in about 10 minutes including clean-up. 👌

Wondering about that scalpel, do you by chance have a link for it or any info? It looks like it’s a “folding knife” style with possibly a replaceable blade?

I bought mine at sportsman's warehouse but you can get them anywhere. Havalon Knives. www.scheels.com/p/havalon-piranta-ss-knife/73637070105.html?msclkid=f660c511875a1de675dda3e12bd271a0

As always you have such creative ways of looking at old processes. I never thought of processing a couple chickens this way. Sounds like something I need to try when I have a couple stewers. Good job.

Is that a yellow band on the leg? If so what is the reason for banding? Sharp knives /scalpels are the best.

I have alot of the same breed of chickens and I use different colored zip ties to keep track of the year when I got them. She was a 2021 bird.

Really good. The dang coyotes dug the last ones up out of my compost going to have to go deeper. 4 young roosters with a date for the freezer right now one more week on a heavy diet.

Man those night-time predators don't miss an opportunity for some chicken! 😆

Thank you, you made it look simple enough. How do you get old layers tender enough to eat?

We mostly use old birds for making chicken stock. Rebecca cans the the stock and sifts the chicken meat and vegetables which gets fed to our dog. If we do use the meat it gets cooked, chopped and used in dishes like pot pie, enchiladas or chicken salad.
