Honestly nowadays with Claude, I think you could easily have a really good sales letter or VSL written in like 2 hours? The BIG key though is having all the right inputs to give, which could include research etc. you can use AI to do all of that stuff as well. And then it still comes down to judgement and for best results you'll copy chief the sales letter a bit yourself etc.

My personal feeling is that AI is better than 80% of copywriters already. I think with the right prompts you can get copy that's as good as what 90% of copywriters would produce. I do still think that there's going to be room for the top 10% of copywriters for a while more, because there's a lot of nuance and little things like that. But ultimately instead of becoming a copywriter you're going to want to become a conductor. Someone who can take the prompts, put them together in the right order, fine tune and add your little flourishes, etc. And to your point on learning copywriting: unless you want to commit to being one of the absolute best then it's not really worth it beyond a cursory level. Because you do still need to know the structure of stuff, what good copy looks like, etc.
I was genuinely surprised by the output. Sprinkle in some NESB and you're basically there.
