This video would be even better if it were paired in a series showing the installation of the new receiver.

Thanks very helpful. I used a mirror to see those 8 mill bolts, I couldn’t find those things without it. Don’t confuse the 8 mills with the 10 mills that are also under there.
Thanks again, excellent video, you saved me about $150.
    Cheers

There’s a plate underneath the pull out glove box that will give you some wiggle room to get to the 8mm which can also be removed with a phillips.
There is a hole to the right where you don’t want to let the 8mm fall. Consider covering that with a sandwich bag before attempting to remove the 8mm.
Thanks for this video. I have a 2015.

Hello there! Thanks for the video. I am sure it has helped many people.
I have some physical damage to my factory stereo unit (around the vents and some buttons are in bad shape) in my Accord 2013 LX sedan.
If I replace my factory stereo unit with the same stereo unit from another Accord will I be able just to do it DIY unplugging old unit and plugging in new one? Or do I need to take it to a professional so that they can set up the new stereo unit with my car?
    Hope you can help me.

This vid was spot-on. It helped me remove my radio from my 13 sport. However- those 2 damn 8mm bolts took me 1.5 hours to get out! They are buried up in the dash and I was upside down, left, right, banging my head against the shifter, etc trying to get those bastards out!

    • @gqneon
      @gqneon 7 років тому +3

I just pulled out the factory head unit in my 2016 Sport and 9 wired the 8 speaker wires and the 12v+ switched lead to the remote (blue) on the 9-wire out and also ran a second 9-wire for the amp output to the factory speaker harnesses (well.... 8 wired, I cut out the remote blue wire on the return run since it wasn't needed.)
I thought those 8mm bolts would be tough. They are a little strangely placed, but I didn't have to do much to get them out. Here's what you need to do it fast and right:
      1. A six inch 1/4" ratchet extension
      2. 1/4" universal joint socket on the end of the extension
      3. an 8mm 1/4" drive socket on the end of the universal joint
      4. all that attached to your favorite small 1/4" drive ratchet
I used the socket on the extensions and seated in the driver seat (normally seated - not upside down or anything crazy) I used both hand to find the head of the 8mm bolt and guide the socket onto it. Then I simply kept one hand holding pressure on the socket and extension to keep it in place, affixed my ratchet to the other end, and simply backed it out. I kept my hand on the bolt and socket as I guided it out to prevent dropping it. That's it. Literally 90 seconds for both and done.
Installation is just the reverse except you hand thread it (with socket and extension) before applying any torque to prevent cross-threading.
      I hope this helps!
Now my breaks over I've got to go replace my 8ga run with a 4ga run and move my amp from the trunk to under my driver seat.
Great video - this was super helpful!

So i was wondering If i was to get my hands on a radio that's came out out of touring that has APPLE IPLAY and NAVIi would i be able to swap out the basic and put this one in? would it be plug and play and if so would i then have apple play and NAVI? I had an after market blue tooth radio in my old car. When I got my 2014 Honda Accord, I was pleased my phone connected, but the ease of use compared to my old after market isn't even close. The after market connected instantly after I started the car, on the Honda, I have to push buttons to make the connection, frequently. Bluetooth connects very slowly, and starts slowly. I'm two blocks from home before it connects. The After market model started immediately. I never use the on dash navigation, I use my phone. With the after market, when I used the USB plug, it switched immediately. With the Honda, when It's connected via Bluetooth, and I plug in the USB cable, it just stops. it's a real drag. Looking for a way to improve my Honda system.
