- Here we consider getting into the flow with a reading, and being able to stay there so you're speaking or interpreting from a point of harmony.
We consider the King of Swords reversed, and look a bit at the 7 of Batons.
I intended giving links to two videos, but I can find only one - the conversation between Vinni and Rick.

Your wisdom is more valuable than gold
This is turning out to be the Class I never knew I needed.
Also loving the spicy shady attitude sprinkled in btw 😂✨. Very enjoyable, Thank you so much Mr. Ballantrae
Nothing really happens by chance. Glad I found you!
Greentings from Brazil!
As you were talking about the seven of batons, I thought that maybe the figure has gotten where he wanted to get (like reaching a goal), but it was a bit more than he bargained for, and he can barely handle the challenge. (A case of be careful what you wish for). And perhaps others are jealous of his position and he is spending more time defending against them trying to unseat him than he is enjoying having reached his goal. Now he has no time to concentrate on the job at hand because of the constant attacks he is now receiving from others who want to take his place.
Thank you for this series. As usual, looking at the card and talking about it in the context of the question is the key (without overthinking); and not spitting out the same memorized meaning of the card no matter what the question or context. Learn what you can about the cards, and read up on the tarot when you want to, but when it comes time for a reading, put it all away and LOOK at the cards and begin talking.
Dear Capt: Very good. I'm going to mention this at the beginning of Part 4.
@@johnballantrae001 Thank you John. I look forward to the next part of this series. Your thoughts on the Tarot are always inciteful and thought provoking.
I find that I have many more ideas about what a card means when I am watching and reacting (internally) to what you are saying, than if I just pull a card and try to figure it out with no context or question. It is sort of like reading a book; ...as you read you find that you are reacting to what the author is saying, and developing ideas related to whatever the author is putting forth. It helps to clarify your own thoughts. I recently decided to buy a tarot book, that I read a bit from in the store, because I was finding that I did not agree with what the author was saying very often, and realized that the book was really helping me understand what I thought and believed about the meanings of the cards (as I mentally marshalled my own argument for 'my' understanding of the card).
Thanks again John, am learning so much and enjoying it immensely 😊
I have truly enjoyed your presentations. I’ve gotten so much out of the first three parts. Excited to watch part four.
so very helpful such a kind voice
I, like you, first began learning tarot by reading Eden Gray's books back in the late 70's and early 80's. I would be interested in a video regarding your take on the 'traditional' meaning of the swords cards compared to the current trend in swords interpretation. Today, the meaning seems to have morphed from Grey's "Aggression, force, ambition, courage, strife and misfortune" to definitions such as "Thoughts, communication, intellect, the mind, etc..." This seems to stem from readers bringing in to Tarot the four 'elements' from Astrology. But if you actually look at the pictures on the cards, Grey's meanings seem more in line what what is depicted on them (fighting a battle and defeating others, swords stabbed into a heart, a person having nightmares, a dead man stabbed in the back with multiple swords, a charging knight with sword drawn, a man stealing swords, a woman trapped by a cage made of swords, etc...). It would be great to watch a video with your thoughts on the topic.
I love that you advise looking at the card rather than just focused on ‘meanings’ after all tarot is a visual system, without the picture we may as well just have names on blank paper. Great video, lots to think about.
I think it's more what is a card about, rather than what does it mean. You can go further with it.
Loving this, thank you so much.
I would love to hear more about the 5 of pentacles. I've always considered it a tough one. Thank you.
So glad I found you ! Welcome back 🤍
I'm a tarot beginner and your youtube channel really helped me a lot! Thank you!
Very good. There's a lot more coming.
Hi John 👋 would love to hear how you learnt tarot and how it has been part of your life 🙏
I don't think one can make a mistake within the tarot, and the only reason why I say this is because each card to one person can have an intuitive ability meaning meant for that person at the time of the reading within themselves/the reader that comes out and then, later on, they will begin to look at a book meaning or a meaning from years ago that don't necessarily will resonate with today's meaning or a book meaning and they will then degrade themselves into believing they didn't get it right, but I think emotions come within readings automatically because we all have a type of intuitive ability that is picked up on the moment that the querent sets down for the reading because most tarot readers pick up on that natural energy when there setting with the one getting the reading and one meaning can relate to that person rather than the book meaning...Loved listening..and great approach..
Thank you. Great points.
I'm beginning to see things differently with the tarot. Thank you.
I just discovered your channel and I cant help it but saying you're adorable! So much respect!
Please comment on Alejandro Jodorovsky book and deck. He inspired me to find someone like you.
I don't really know anything about him or his deck, but I think he uses a Marseille type deck, but I prefer The Rider deck because it has illustrations that we can make sense of without having to know any mystical or esoteric tradition. This means it is accessible to everyone.
Do you think that the relationship with you and the actual physical deck you own matter?
i have just watched part 3 , can you tell me more about the star card i have learnt that the meanings is that 17 be comes 8 for strength and hope to a new path am i right all do it new balance . can you give me some advice on this card please thank you georgina u.k.
Your opening statement must grab the audience
I know, except that I consider the people who watch these videos as my friends and colleagues, even though I've never met them, so we're having a chat and I'm not trying tto sell them anything.
@@johnballantrae001 you’re wonderful just as you are, your honesty and openness often makes me laugh too.
One of your early videos talks about the usefulness of practicing reading a card in context of a question, and the value of having looked at cards before (so you have a better idea of what they might mean in the present). ua-cam.com/video/66ikrczxGhY/v-deo.html
