You know one of the nice things about that second place is that it wasn't close. Like... You don't have the 'if only we had the plastic off faster' or 'if we had just moved that section earlier' or anything like that. It's actually nice to know that you did your best and the teeny tiny things that lost you a second or two absolutely didn't matter.
I was at this competition and I saw you win second place! I didn't know who you were at the time but I remember thinking, "That young girl is VERY happy!". I did not compete however, I only came to watch. I think it might be time to sign up next year. I didn't know about all the extra fun casual puzzle rooms either! Learned a lot from this video, thank you!
Karen, I think you definitely should consider your team 2nd overall. Golden State had too much of an advantage seeing the puzzle and develop a strategy beforehand. Compete with the best if you want to consider yourself the best. Congrats, Karen!
I don't think anyone was surprised how far Karen did the little solid color puzzle, with how many shape-only type puzzles she's done. Like the clear puzzles, and all the solid ones of course
Some aspects of the event seem a bit random (like anyone being able to enter any division and just having a play-off against team members on a tiny puzzle rather than a team grand final) but it looks really fun.
Thank you for sharing these experiences with it (and Katie for the graphs as always!). I love what you said about puzzling with a group of people who love it: something to do with your hands, something to talk about, and not having to look at each other. So relatable! I love puzzling, but wouldn't want to do it for speed. Also, great to see you on P4A this year! I'm so glad Hank didn't quit his puzzle!
That was me! I gifted you “Z you around” (Phil, Los Rompecabezeros team captain). It took me ~3hrs with several interruptions. Glad you kept it and look forward to seeing your completion time :)
Yay! As a Minnesotan who’s been watching your channel for a year now, I’m so glad you could come to my state! (Despite the weather!) It’s been brutally cold this winter, even for those of us who have lived our whole lives with Minnesota winters, so extra props to you for taking it on! Congratulations on your 2nd and 3rd place finishes!
If you like glitter on a puzzle, the Ravensburger glitter gradient should be right up your alley. I did that over Christmas 2021 as my first ever gradient puzzle and it was more challenging than I expected going in. The actual glitter effect on the puzzle is only in some spots (I would have liked a bit more of that, tbh) but it is still very fun.
Is it just....a picture of glitter with some glitter on the top? WAIT Karen!! This could be such a fun DIY! She did a DIY gradient with spray paint, but can you imagine one with glitter? It'll live all over your house forever though 😂
You have no idea how much I love these competition videos! I had no idea such things existed until your series last year, and now I’m trying to find some local puzzle competitions to join. Thank you for sharing these videos!
Congratulations on 2nd place! ❤️ Also thank you for introducing me to puzzle competitions, I never knew they existed before seeing your videos. I now plan on competing in a local competition in a couple of months here in Australia (as an Australian I don’t know about Minnesota). I also would have competed as a child if I could.
@@SecretSquirrelFun I’m in Adelaide but I’m sure they have them in Sydney too. I also know there was a Nationals competition in Melbourne late last year.
I have never seen anyone smile as much as you do and you seem to be such a nice person. Your vids are unfortunately much fun, even though I am not a jigsaw puzzler. It is unfortunate because it's hard to justify the time spent over watching jigsaw puzzle contests, but it is relaxing and fun.
Karen you are too cute. You draw people in with your personality. I started doing puzzles again because of you and even my child is doing gradient puzzles. Way to go girl 😊❤️
I truly love these competition videos. Thank you for taking the time and effort it clearly takes to put them together! I hope you had a blast in Minnesota!
You and your channel are what got me back into puzzling! I had had a thousand piece partially started in the garage for over a year and I pulled it out and finished it in like two weeks cause of you! And now I’m super into them and got some puzzles for my birthday and I’m so excited to do them. So thank you for bringing the joy of puzzling back to me!
Who would have thought I could feel so happy and have such a big smile on my face for someone I didn't know about a couple of weeks ago! I have only just got back into jigsaws and so have been binge watching this channel. A big congrats Karen, both for how well you did in Minnesota and for the pleasure you bring to us watching and learning from you 😃
That’s crazy that you got 2nd place twice! (first time at the National Championships in individual category) It’s also awesome that Sarah Schuler got 1st here and 3rd at Nationals. If you and Sarah competed again with Yvonne on your team you’d be unstoppable!
i really liked that you blurred out the kid’s faces. some other content creators wouldn’t have cared about it but it’s the little things that make me come back to your videos !
I love to watch these video’s of puzzle competitions. Your passion for puzzles finds it way across the world to my country The Netherlands. Thank you so much for that! ❤
Perfect timing! I have my first puzzle competition ever next week. Just doing it for fun -- but this video was super helpful in letting me know what to expect.
Watching your puzzle competition videos is what finally got me into jigsaw puzzles! I'd like to get a timer even though I'm slow, just to keep track for fun 😁
Minnesotan here. It's too bad that they don't have something like this in the summer when our weather is more hospitable so the visitors can see more of our beautiful state. Although like other commenters have said, 1 degree in January is almost toasty. Congrats on your team's excellent job and well done to all the teams that participated. It looks like a blast. I hope to be able to join you one day.
Congratulations on the Minnesota event as a member of “Jiggy Pudding”. I tried to think of what a good one-word team name might be. I decided “Minotaurs” would be a good name, because the Minotaur literally lived inside a puzzle. (A maze being a type of puzzle.)
Hey there... It is just fun to see these competition clips... The fun that your team is having, but also the community, talking with others and just the atmosphere at such an event... Great work at doing it...
Minnesota. Love this. Congratulations on your wonderful results at the competition and on making it exciting and fun. I definitely enjoy watching your regular videos and puzzles reviews. The competitions are taking your videos to the next level.
Karen not only being like one of the absolute top competitors, but also highlighting and basically reporting like a sport journalist for the top speed puzzlers. And I think sheds light on this super nieche but I think cool speed puzzling community.
I love that you braved our cold MINNESOTA weather ❤ That building is where my high school proms were held - it's cool to see it again! Did you get to see any of the carnival?
This new upload was such a pleasant surprise after I've been binging all your puzzle videos (especially love the competition breakdowns!). You've inspired me and my family to get back into puzzling after we had our puzzle phase during lockdown! Doing a speed puzzling event with my family would be so much fun, but I don't know if we'd travel all the way to Minnesota just for it! ;)
Oh Karen your hands shaking showing your second place button❤ You are amazing ! Edit: YOU MET MIKE OF SPRINGBOK FEVER??!! That’s like meeting a celebrity!
Congratulations! The cutest thing of the video is the key chain heart and you mentioning that your sister gets the second part. :-) Greeting from an Austrian who has even been to Minnesota once...
Thanks for sharing! I was born and raised in Minneapolis so it’s fun to see our hometown comp getting the love. 🥰 We competed in Adult 4 this year and I was so excited when I saw the winter carnival people post a photo of your team! It’s so fun to watch your strategy compared to ours. Hopefully you’ll come back again!
Wow Minnesota sure looked cold! Congratulations on your finishing time! I’d love love love to see a video of you racing the old 1986 Competition Puzzle! ❤ it’s so cool that you got to meet the famous Mike and that he recorded the finishing times for the 1986 competition! I was also very excited for you that you beat Tammy with the glitter puzzle. I’d sure love to have a glitter puzzle made by you 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to MinneSNOWta. As always, you did an excellent recap of the competition! I also thoroughly enjoyed your P4A session on Friday with Hank :)
That is awesome Karen. Congrats on your second place wins. I love watching all your videos and love watching you solve difficult puzzles while timing yourself. Keep up the great videos and I will continue watching. I live in Canada which is similar weather to Minnesota but just a bit colder.
