Reigen is such a well written character. He is neither good or bad, he's just a lovable character. Though he's a con artist, he still cares about his co-workers, especially Mob.
He’s very clearly a good person though. Sure they say he’s a con artist because he’s not a real psychic. But it’s not like he’s just robbing people of their money after spouting bs. He gives legit advice and nice massages. As much as what’s he’s doing isn’t worthy of making him a psychic, it’s still hard work that he deserves to be paid for.

But looking back, I think deeming a character from Mob psycho as good, bad, or in between is an unfair assessment. Since the characters were intentionally made to me more complex than a black and white reality in which they either fit in one of those boxes or they don’t. But I mean, wanting to root for your favorite characters or hate on the ones that screwed up is fair. I mean I personally remember really liking Reigen’s character (though my memory’s a little fuzzy on what he was actually like). My point is that we should express our takes on the characters, but also keep in mind that our own biases are responsible for swaying us toward seeing them as a net good or bad. But idk, it’s not really that relevant. It’s just what came to mind with this. Also I happen to enjoy debating stuff so I read replies on yt, even if they’re from a year ago. :)

Reigen isn't some slave driver who thinks everyone but him is dumb. He's a guy who got too high on ambition and too deep into the shizz. But here's the wild things about Reigen: even though he's "conning" people, he IS helping his clients. He gives them advice he massages them under the guise of exorcising a ghosts, he's debunking Paranoia scenarios, and with Mob and the kids around, he's actually targeting ghosts. That's the part people miss when talking about Reigen. The fact that his company ACTUALLY works.
Reigen doesn't mean to be manipulative..at least he doesn't intend to, that's what I think. He's too kind, but at the same time, too stubborn. And Mob begins to have friends that actually cares for him..so yeah, just glad the two of them can overcome that just like you said in description

I look at it like this, in no short manner he got what he needed. A reality check in both measures: humility and that while he wasn't special, that didn't mean he wasn't worthy of anything he's gotten. People like to forget Reigan's actually got a very solid philosophy centered around meritocracy and earning what you get. Which is why I think he goes so far off the deep end during that arc.
