Haha, indeed. And, if you pay attention you'll see that the camera don't show him much as the others. He had some problems with self-esteem in those years, very shy guy. Florian really looks like a robot!! Haha
@@huguitorecords5055 Do You maybe know, why he had such issues? From musical and career perspective those were Ralf' s golden days, however, he always seemed to be a very mysterious, introverted, shy and delicate guy and at the same time with unique force of creativity and charisma.
It's good to see Ralf, Florian, Wolfgang, and Karl cut loose, and have some fun in this music video. Anyone who thinks that Kraftwerk's music is stiff and lifeless needs to see this video.
I think that the genius thing about this song is that they intentionally lean into the criticism that their music is stiff and lifeless. "Showroom dummies", eh? At least, I think it's clever.
They are so bloody adorable. And I LOVE how much fun they have in this video. The dancing at the end is brilliant, and they are clearly enjoying being silly. RIP Florian.
“We step out and take a walk through the city’ was sacrificed for timing purposes, leaving a little scar in the edit, but by then the lyrics had taken us to the club and we started dancing. And how. Florian - the master of pirouettes and shaken bar mixer hands - remained deadly serious. Incredible but true: Ralf and Wolfgang are smiling just as the invisible ‘screenplay’ dictates. And me ... well, never mind. Those were the disco days and I gave everything I had ...” - Karl Bartos
At 1:05 when they "look around" and "change their pose" is SO fucking awesome! And the fact KRAFTWERK never took themselves too seriously is the mist beloved thing about them. ❤️
We are standing here,Exposing ourselves We're being watched and we feel our pulse We look around and change our pose We start to move And we break the glass We step out And take a walk through the city We go into a club And there we start to dance WE ARE SHOWROOM DUMMIES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kraftwerk Made The Most Beautiful Electronic Music Ever & This Video Shows It. I've Been A Big Fan Of Kraftwerk Since 1977 & I Love Everything That They Do.
Si existieran redes sociales en esa hermosa época estos Alemanes serían los culpables de la revolución de la música. Que de echo lo son !! Muchas gracias
Judging from their appearance in thisvideo, it too may have been from around 1977. The song itself is slightly remixed here, the "single edit" from the re-released version around 1982.
I imagine many fashion retailers would have played this on the loudspeaker and the customers dancing to it as they are shopping. This video, Florian, Karl, Ralf and Wolfgang were absolute geniuses and actually thought they were actually just showroom dummies or robots. The Bach, Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Wagner, Mendelssohn, Pachelbel and Beethoven of German electronic music rolled into one.
Just read about the filming of this footage in Karl's book "The Sound of the Machine". Never saw it before today. Wonderful, though it was a shame they had to hack the song to bits to get it down to length.
I just had a funny idea of parodying this video: Casting 4 members from Half-Life 2 (Dr. Kliener as Ralf, G-Man as Karl Bartos, Barney Calhoun as Wolfgang, and Dr. Breen as Florian) I thought the "Break the glass" verse could be exaggerated, as when that is announced, the music pauses, then shifts to a sub-machinegun shooting a window, then a grenade blowing away the rest. this is followed by display glass breaking. "We're being watched" is of citizens strolling by and a flying robot flashing.
Yeah i agreee with badluck. but This song is about how people said they looked like Showroom dummies, manakins, robots, when they were live. so its about something. lyrics aren't pointless.
THIS ISNT NORMALLY MY KIND OF MUSIC (ELECTRONIC RUBBISH) BUT GOT TO ADMIT KRAFWERK ARE FANTASTIC YEARS AGO I HAD A LOAD OF THEIR SONGS ON REEL TO REEL TAPES SOUNDED FANTASTIC I TRANSFERED THEM TO DAT STILL HAVE THEM BRILLIANT VOCALS AND SIMPLE BEAT KRAFTWERK TOP NOTCH
I think Showroom Dummies music are going to use it for the next summer movie the transformers 2 on 2009. This music is going to be great for the sequel next summer. Comments?
Why is a happy smiling and dancing Ralf the most cutest thing on earth?
Haha, indeed. And, if you pay attention you'll see that the camera don't show him much as the others. He had some problems with self-esteem in those years, very shy guy. Florian really looks like a robot!! Haha

He was the coolest of the band...
Wolfgang is cool, as is Karl.
"We're standing here...exposing ourselves"
This is one of my favorite bands ever, but that line just made me laugh out loud.

Actually this version is different from the album track: the drums are heavier and it’s more “danceable”. I like this version more
The most influential group ever
When I first heard Kraftwerk I thought “this doesn’t sound like 70s music”
Yeh, I agree now Ive heard more of there stuff. Radioactivity or the Model has to be my fsvourite.
Great!!!

Are we going to ignore the fact that Karl Bartos' drum pad looks like a keyboard?

This would be a great JoJo soundtrack
Por q no mejoran la calidad del sonido se oye muy mal ¡¡¡ pero me encanta kraftwerk ¡¡¡

Never saw this video, I think they did waaaaaaaayyyyyyy too much LSD...
I wouldn't call the lyrics pointless. But then I suppose that's all in listener interpretation.
One of the dummies is actually Thomas Bjorn
those dummies look like agent 47 of Hitman video games!
