    I love the videos! How deep are you setting those pots? Most of the salt water bayous in my area are only 2-5 feet deep, is that too shallow for pots?

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  3 роки тому +2

      Definitely not to shallow for crabs. Crabs move into the shallows in our area as the water temp gets warmer. Just make sure you have enough water on low tide to cover your traps. Curious to hear how you do. Thanks for watching!

    Should have made your gauge out of something floatable or tie an orange float after drilling lightened holes.
    Female crabs have red tip claws.
    Enjoy your hobby.

    I just moved to Beaufort and just bought my first trap today. Since I don’t have the luxury of a boat... are there any spots you could recommend? I’m only a few minutes from the Broad River pier, and will try there tomorrow, but I it might be more fished out compared to a low traffic area. What are your thoughts?

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  4 роки тому +2

      The crabbing should be good all around this area at this time. The Broad River Pier should be a good place to try. Port Royal boat landing has a nice walkway that would also be a good place to try. Try to crab the incoming Tide. Good Luck!

      Thanks again for the tip. Dropped my trap about 50 yards down the pier, let it soak for 8 hours, and took home 10 keepers. I used your cleaning instructions and steamed them just like you showed. Aaaaaand!!! YUMMY you guys are awesome 👌

      @@SaltyReflections sure is we really manage our crab population really well another good bait to use is pogies or mullet but any scraps of fish parts work well I even build crab holding pens say if you don't have time to cook em you can keep em alive in your pen at your dock in the water for couple days but have to keep em fed or they will start eating each other lol
