Your story was touching. I totally understand your situation. I just hate you are dealing with the negative aspects, but you will get through that. You did planned well before you left your home town. You stand in your truth and be true to who you are.

Also I apologise for how I look. I am literally the worse person on camera. You're comments all mean so much and I've taken the time to read each. You're all wonderful.

Just wanted to say that bible was written by superstitious people in very superstitious times, there was no scientific thought back then. It's so weird that even today after 400 yrs of scientific thought and in the 1st world country there are people who choose to think like they did thousands of years ago. And what irony! Jesus was a rebel, he was like James Dean, he was killed because he didn't follow religious rules, he was killed for the same reasons some people today hate, hurt and kill in his name! I can never get over that!

Chris, I am a Christian counselor and am embarrassed at your mother's side of the family. They need to educate themselves in modern biblical exegesis. Jesus loves you just as you are, you only need to be WHO you are and not what your dysfunctional relatives want you to be. I think you are a excellent example of a Christian........love you, man............Ray [I subbed]

Thanks for sharing your story. It can be difficult. Even here in Canada that still happens, not as much in some areas but it does. I don't have much touch with my uncle and cousins as they don't accept it due to religious believes. I am not going to get into details as the religion is a very touchy one out there. They pretty much are now loners with the choices they have made and I am ok with that. I have my memories of good times with them. It was my aunt who kept them in touch with us and once she passed away, they went their own way. Yes, my family is now a very small circle. This year, I ended a marriage to by BF cause he was unfaithful on multiple occasions, sold our dream house, lost my family pet of 31 years and my first BF who was my best friend suddenly passed away. Even with all that, I am still going forward and happy. I see good things in the future and do what's right. Don't let anyone else bring you down or try to destroy you. There is always someone out there who loves you.

I can relate to your story. Accept who you are and be comfortable in your lifestyle is great. My problems was family and friends on how they would react to me being gay. Silence by some, lost some friends, but most of them approve.. older generation was less acceptances.

Good luck with your siblings and always be there for them. Good luck with your family. We should live our lives like we want. We should be happy and not worry about what other people think. Love is love. The more we put our selves out there the more people will see how average we are.

This has nothing to do with your coming out, but you decided to go to British Columbia. How did you get a residence permit or are you just living there on a tourist visa? Do you have to leave Canada every year and then come back. How does that work?

Hey! Thanks for your question. I did have to apply and receive a permit to move. I am on a study and work permit here in British Columbia. I currently attend a Canadian university studying Public Health and working for a Canadian Financial Institution. I only return to the States to see my best friend in Oregon or my fraternity family in Arkansas, but otherwise I'm in British Columbia 24/7 working towards my Permanent Residence. :)
If you have further questions about what the legalities are or how I've made it work - feel free to ask!
