I'm a foghat fan from way back some good stuff right here . I'll be 67 next year and I can honestly say our generation had the greatest of music that was ever created .
@@lunixcaptain That's true -- to a point. But back in the day there was no autotune and no Pro Tools or any digial equipment. You had to be a real musician that could sing, write your own songs, compose your own music and play your own instruments. There was no social media or at-home equipment that would make it possible for someone to become a fake star overnight. You had to pay your dues playing high school dances and clubs and bars and then tour -- sometimes for years -- in vans and trucks to play before 50-100 people a night. Record companies weren't looking to make an instant fortune or copy whatever was selling that month and so they spent years and multiple albums grooming and developing artists. Those artists also drew from a wide range of various influences, rather than today's artists stuck in their narrow sub-genres. For those with real talent, all that touring, hard work and playing countless hours together produced great music, which is why so many young people today are reacting to and enjoying songs and albums that are 30-50 years old and was often recorded before they were born. Many today don't don't buy albums or invest time in bands or singer/songwriters. They just download stand-alone songs from whatever flavor-of-the-month "artist" tickles their fancy that day and add it to a playlist, much of which is disposable crap. Of course there are exceptions, but will most of today's singers, bands or rappers be actively recording in 30 years (as so many from the 60s, 70s and 80s still are), and will much if any of that music be influencing new generations of artists? I doubt it.
Foghat and The Pat Travers Band was the first concert I went to in 1979. Awesome concert and tickets were $6.50!!!! Give Pat Travers a listen BOOM BOOM out go the lights, Snorting whiskey Drinking cocaine .Very underrated guitar player.
Never got to see Travers and still feel the production on his album Crash and Burn is almost god tier. You can compare it to most any other album of it's time including Van Halen, Black Sabbath, etc. - Don't change a any settings and compare the album sound - clarity, bass presence, crispness - yikes. Punch, let's not forget that either. From an album made in 1980 . . . .
I was at that show in Minnesota!! I was 29 and felt like one of the oldest there! We got hit on by a couple 15 year olds. 🤣🤣😎. It was a great concert, tho. I went to see Pat Travers, so Foghat was a bonus! ☮️❤️
True story, I worked at club back in the '90s and we hired Foghat to play on my birthday. One crazy thing was how their sound engineers "tuned the club". They set up and cranked every amp up to the max, it was like a rocket ship was going off, and then adjusted the levels so there was no feedback. When they played, their sound was crystal clear You couldn't speak to the person beside you and the sound was vibrating the entire place. It just was so clear you didn't mind how loud it was. I can't explain it well here, it was an experience.
If you wanna make Tasha blush, have her react to a lyrics video of, *"Miracles",* by Jefferson Starship. The song is amazing, I daresay, one of the 10 best mainstream rock ballads of the '70s.
48 years ago this song dropped. Fool for the City, My Babe, Stone Blue, Third Time Lucky, Honey Hush and My Babe are a few more. Foghat was/is just a great rock band. We loved them here in Connecticut. Saw them too many times to count.
One of the big rock bands of the seventies, we had so much variety in music back then and about the best music era ever - but then I was right in the middle of it im 64 and a bit biased as I graduated high school in 1977 -
I love how Mrs. T thinks she's being "set up." So funny how well she knows Mr. T 😂. Great jammin" tune with the funky bass and the out of control slide guitar!
I've probably heard this song 1000 times, but only the radio version. I could tell he was setting her up too, but I wasn't sure how. I mean, the radio cut has enough in the lyrics that you know what they're talking about if you pay attention, but nothing over-the-top. When we got near the end it was suddenly like "OK, there it goes." I know the song and he got me with it too.
The song was on the soundtrack for Dazed & Confused, a superb movie! It begins on the last day of high school in 1976. There are different stories going on and there's a big party in the woods and cruising and dealing with jerks. Stars include Milla Jovovich, Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey, Renee Zellweger, and Adam Goldberg, the Jewish soldier in Saving Private Ryan. They released the soundtrack in two volumes, and both are bangers.
Love it! This was one of my patreon requests a year ago that turned you on to that T. Love that you're sharing with Tasha. Great stuff!!! One of the greatest rock jams ever!!! Sounds like T was being suggestive too!!!
Fool for the City is a great album, but my favorite is the Stone Blue album. Seen Foghat 5 times in concert. My first time was in 1978 with BTO and Judas Priest. The last time was in a bar before Lonesome Dave and Rod Price passed away.
That song was my friends and I kick ass, jam, rockin out song that we heard on the radio almost everyday while driving back home from school in 76! Ageless classic rock!
Yall should redo this one with the live version, great crowd interaction. Had a great opportunity in the early 90s to see them live at Long Beach Naval Station
Hell Yes !!!! Foghat Live 1977 .. The Booming drums at the start … Saw them in the mid 90’s at a little concert bar .. They tore the roof off of the Building .. 🤘🏼😂🤘🏼
Nope this is the one, live versions always have too much BS in them. They need to hear it as it was first recorded as we did back in the day. I am 70 and I was there.
I've seen these guys twice. Once they played with Black Oak Arkansas and Montrose (with Sammy Hagar). The other time they opened for Emerson, Lake & Palmer. These fellas jam!
I guess opening for ELP isn't much different from when I saw them open for Queen. They get a crowd ready. I can't remember if Hagar was with Montrose when I saw them open for Sabbath. Fun days.
OK....this is one of those songs that blasted out of cars (that some lucky seniors had) cruising the Boulevard after High School let out!! Brings me back to walking that 10 block walk home from school (small town, no school busses or anything) in the 70's with my friends, everyone taking their time and trying to look cool. Was a great time to be young!
Bro...I'm the same way. I could sing every word of a song, but I never paid attention to the lyrics or what they were saying. ...IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC!!! 🤘
I've seen these guys exactly how many times I've seen BOC. Why? Because they ALWAYS open for BOC! One of my favorite shows was Meatloaf warming up for Foghat opening for BOC at Radio City Music Hall - KILLER CONCERT. (BTW, there was a man who must have been 70 years old sitting in front of us(!), we figured he must have had a 'season ticket' for that seat and went there for *every* show - good for him ;p )
At the begining of the buildup up to the climax of the song where Lonesome Dave is singing "elevate me mama", well back in the day I always heard that part as "hello baby mama" LOL. I prefer "hello baby mama" because - hey sometimes a slow ride results in making a baby mama. 🤣
TNT, I saw Foghat in 1979..We had such a good time I didn't even mind getting grounded by the parents for a month! (They closed the show with this song ) And it's been in at least 3 car and 2 beer commercials that I can think of.."The Lincoln Continnental sport coupe..Take a slow ride in one today!" 9:55, Tasha, that's 2 sex songs in disguise he's got ya with now..remember Led Zepplin's "Trampled Underfoot"?
In the late 70's as a muscle car driver and college sophmore; I swear I had no idea and thought it was about driving fast in a cool car. Sad about wasted opportunities....alot makes sense now. 😢
She can protest all she wants, but Tasha has a dirty mind. I will tell you how I know. As a purveyor of innuendo, I learned a long time ago that they would have no meaning to someone with a completely 'pure' mind. It would be like that joke about the airplane going right over their (or, in this case, Tasha's head) heads because they simply didn't get it. So, Tasha can act as uppity as she wants, but for those that know, it is just an act.... because, otherwise, there would be 'no reaction'. TASHA, want to prove me wrong... then I DARE YOU to listen to Frank Zappa's "Dinah Moe Humm" completely without a any reaction... no laughing, no blushing, and no fake disgust or shock., That is my challenge to you. ;-P BTW, even though I have just subscribed, I have actually been following you guys for a little while now.... and as an original GEN X geek and guitar player, I can surely recommend songs to you from many genres... especially serious kick ass guitar songs. Cheers, Tim
Foghat Live is one of the best live albums. Slow Ride. I Just Want To Make Love To You. Every song on the album. Definitely need to react to I Just Want To Make Love To You off Foghat Live.
Great classic! Though I don't think Tasha was as impressed as T with this song. Lol. Try putting her on to Jethrro Tull! I think she'd like them more. That flautist / flutist, or flute player (so many ways to call someone that plays a small tube! Lol.) That Flutist is a banger!! Fyi... A bit of music history... In 1989, the Grammys added the 'Heavy Metal' category. 🤘😎🤘 As an 18yo, hardcore metalhead back then, I was looking forward to the first Metal Award from a reputable & respected Award Show! A BIG 'WIN' for metal! getting some respect and maybe some appreciation for the genre. I watched it live, as most metalheads at and around my age, since we were the first generation of metalheads, & should be counted as REAL MUSIC! Back then, there was a lot of hate & politics, etc. Just like they did it to RAP in the 90s, & many other 'save the kids' BS. Anyway... The nominations were odd, but as it was a new & growing genre, I don't think the people that made the nominations didn't know much about metal bands... And the nominations are, -Iggy Pop -Metalica -Jane's Addiction -Jethro Tull ... Like I said, no Testament, no Megadeth, no Anthrax, and SO MANY OTHERS left out in the cold. So, the time comes for the winner... Every metalhead out there was SURE that Metalica was the ONLY choice between the 4. I was slifhtly torn, as I was, & still is, a huge fan of Jane's. But, of course, Metalica was going to win. No possible way that any of the others can get even close to Metalica. Megadeth MAY have had a shot, as their album that year was 'So Far, So Good, So What' & that album was my favorite album that year... (* I might be off with Megadeth's timing, I believe that album came out in '88, so I don't know if Megadeth would've been able to be nominated. ) OK... So, here we GOOO.. Out comes one of my favorite singers ever! ALICE COOPER! This is gonna be amazing! Let's go! :opens envelope: AND THE WINNER IS... JETHRO TULL!!! ...Wait. What? Did he say Jethro Tull?!?! Wait, they're going on the stage. This is a joke, right?! JETHRO TULL IS NOT A METAL BAND!! Heavy rock on occasion, but more just ROCK. Maybe they switched the envelope, maybe it's a joke... All the crazy things going through my brain. I could not understand this full-on, hit-job on my genre! It's a conspiracy! They're trying to kill OUR MUSIC! ...and on, and on I went. All night, & for many days I was talking about it with friends. It was a huge thing with ALL METALHEADS, & I think it made metalheads even more close with each other. The metal scene has always been a great... loving isn't right, but an inviting and a accepting group, no matter what, or who you are. If you love metal, you're one of us. But this Grammy thing just made us closer... (It took a while, but I do get back into Tull, but never as much. But I think Tasha would like them!) Ok, that's longer than I expected, but I just wanted to add my own experience with the facts. I hope you enjoy 'story time' for now. And I hope it's a new story. It'd be a bitch if I said all that & you already know that story. Oh well. Have a rockin' holiday! 🤘😎

Right on man! I'm 64 and still rockin

'am I being set up?'
"No. It's just a good rock song!'

Megadeth MAY have had a shot, as their album that year was 'So Far, So Good, So What' & that album was my favorite album that year... (* I might be off with Megadeth's timing, I believe that album came out in '88, so I don't know if Megadeth would've been able to be nominated. )
OK... So, here we GOOO.. Out comes one of my favorite singers ever!
ALICE COOPER!
This is gonna be amazing! Let's go!
:opens envelope:
AND THE WINNER IS...
But I think Tasha would like them!)
Ok, that's longer than I expected, but I just wanted to add my own experience with the facts. I hope you enjoy 'story time' for now.
And I hope it's a new story. It'd be a bitch if I said all that & you already know that story.
Oh well.
Have a rockin' holiday! 🤘😎
