HP G2 Laptop Dock Unboxing - 230w Thunderbolt Hub w/ Combo Cable

Quick unboxing and look at the HP G2 laptop dock which features a tonne of ports. This isn't really a review, since I've not had chance to hook it all up yet.. but I'll add comments to this video & maybe review how things have gone in a few months.

Front.. USB-C port with data and power out (15W).
Side.. Powered USB 3.0; 1 combo Audio Jack; 1 Kensington lock slot.
Back.. 1 Thunderbolt; 1 USB-C DisplayPort data and power out (15W) port; 2 DisplayPort ports; 1 VGA; 2 USB 3.0; 1 RJ45; 1 AC Adapter connector.

There are a few things I don’t like about this after using it for a week; the LED on the back is quite bright & needed to be covered up. Even when the laptop is off, there’s a fan inside the dock which turns on periodically.. it’s very quiet, but still annoying. It could do with more USB ports.. 2 is not enough. The cable to the laptop is stiff & awkward to route.

Thanks for making this video, i just picked up this docking station as a second hand for 75 euro's. Works great with Lenovo and Dell computers in the house. Downside of the fan turning on periodically not noticed yet. We have a seperate workspace, so we don't sleep next to it anyway. Can't be happier with this purchase!

Hi! Great video. But one question: if i connect my omen hp laptop (with rtx 4060) to the usbc tunderbolt and the docking sation to 3 monitor, is the control direct from nvidia rtx 4060 direct?

what is the power output from the thunderbolt 3 port, can it charge 16 inch macbook pro?

I hate the G2 dock. The power button covers the entire top, and is impossible *NOT* to accidentally press. It has a fan that comes on randomly and is obnoxiously loud.
