    My story is this. I have Nikola since 2021. In 22 i also bought exn hs. Same year i changed my nikolas battery packs to 6P molicel p42a with smart bms. This year July i got commander pro. My plan is to sell the exn and keep the others.
    I ride all of my wheels, but nikola the most , because of its weight and size.

      Love to hear it, thanks for sharing. I have to agree that the size, weight, and power of Nikola are just incredible. You can move it around a lot, but it's not too small. Plus, with the p42a cells, acceleration is insane for a 60 lb wheel. There's a lot of satisfied Nikola riders out there, or at least the wheel maintains its reputation over time.

    I have a nik+, got the new cells from ewheels, never ride it in traffic, just local neighborhoods. You make me think I should get out on the main roads, lol.

    I think what you'll notice with a suspension wheel is that you'll probably start taking those little shortcuts that you wouldn't, like down a small set of stairs or through some chunky roadway/unimproved segments - I mean portland isn't even all on sewers and all the roads are far from being even paved ha ha ha
    But suspension things aren't an option for me, too much basalt poking up out of the ground in random places. Second day I had my tadpole I got flipped on my head 😀
    I gave up street riding (had a sport bike, Suzuki GS550e) after the second time getting hit - EUC makes more sense to commute because you can just troll a long like a ped but I'd just rather explore trails and camp these days. If I was working again this is 100% what I would use for short commutes - or long commutes where I can take stretches of trails away from roadways - if I commuted to Hillsboro from here, I could take the Scappoose/Vernonia/Banks trails and just blast them (deer or elk notwithstanding, and it does happen on PEV frequently here).

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  8 місяців тому +1

      When it comes down to it, the uses of EUC are endless. Getting flipped on your head? You're as initiated a daredevil as any! That's my biggest worry about the sport bikes because the stakes are very high. I really have no strong affinity for impacting cars, so I ride more cautiously nowadays. No doubt, thrills get to me at times. Stay safe, and enjoy the ride!

    I bloody hate those there was a stupid stick on the floor I was doing about 35mph, went flying never touching them again! Sticking to e scooters and ebikes, if there's any danger on the road it's a one wheel, no matter how skilled you are you easily can mess up within a second.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  8 місяців тому

      Yea, 35 mph and crashing to the ground is never good. Sorry to hear about that. It's true that no matter the skill, there are dangers which may be unavoidable.

    • @ThatOnePoliceOfficer
      @ThatOnePoliceOfficer 8 місяців тому

      @@PurpleRider Yes but the same thing with e scooters and ebikes, I wasn't just blaming one wheell even tho it seemed it, it just ebikes are less likely u have more control and e scooters are dangerous because to turn is more less angles than the ebike, which causes crashes, one wheel can outbeat an e scooter, because it is safe when you sit on it and go.

    • @ThatOnePoliceOfficer
      @ThatOnePoliceOfficer 8 місяців тому

      @@PurpleRider Also I believe that riders like you should only own these becuase even tho you would mess about on it, you know when not to mess about near people, I respect that alot.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  8 місяців тому

      @@ThatOnePoliceOfficer Yea, that's true, I see e-bikes with large tires that have more stability in the rain. The turning on scooters can be done effectively using the body, getting low and leaning away from the scooter rather than motion on the handlebars because E-scooters don't have the angles that bikes do. I certainly had less crashes on my e-scooters.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  8 місяців тому +1

      Max is between 40-45 mph on the Nikola+ which is quite exhilarating for a 65 pound wheel! Especially on fresh pavement, there's no other feeling.

  • @eucnier
    @eucnier 8 місяців тому

    I felt the same about my 16x, I actually had two of them since I liked that wheel so much and wanted to ride with friends - I swore I would keep one of them no matter what, but they both ended up gathering dust for months and I sold them after getting a suspension wheel 😂
    Since the Nikola+ is rather heavy (~32kg), it's in a similar weight class to 16" suspension wheels, I bet that if you buy a 16" one you might find yourself not riding the Nikola+ for months at a time, but who knows, maybe not, because having a backup wheel is really nice 😊 But then I would still say get a second wheel that's lighter than 40lbs for convenience. Don't write them off, they might not go as fast but the smaller they are the more nimble they are - you can have a blast even on a v5f 😁

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  8 місяців тому

      Sounds like good advice to me. That's another reason I'm riding this now because as you mentioned, I'll be favoring the new one much more. Having a backup wheel is dope, especially since I rely on EUC for vital transportation. Maybe I should consider some smaller wheels in the future for shorter, casual trips although I definitely don't want to collect them! 😁

    I just found your channel through my newly found fascination of EUC’s. I’ve been watching and consuming all the content I can find. So far I am enjoying your channel. I hope in the near future I can get my feet on an EUC for myself but I’m still confused as to what would be good for my first wheel. I’m 6’1 and around 200lbs. Looking for something fairly affordable but something easier to learn on that will last me a long time. Recommendations?

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  8 місяців тому +1

      Truly depends on what you are intending to use it for. The reason I bought the Nikola+ as my first wheel was because it had really good performance to weight ratio, was well loved in the community, and had good water resistance for my rainy commuting through the city. I think a lot of people would be happy with a Nikola+ or an inMotion V12 as a first wheel. Some people in the community say that you should learn on a non-suspension wheel to help you develop the skills and movement patterns. But there are a lot of new wheels coming out which is exciting. You might be able to get your hands on a used learner wheel for a really good deal nowadays. That said, Veteran brand is becoming known for their quality and Begode for their performance. If you are intending to do lots of jumping, suspension is a must. What wheels are you considering so far?

      @@PurpleRider thank you for your prompt reply! I’m out in Colorado and would ride for fun mostly (not necessarily for commuting) in various weather conditions both on and off road. I don’t plan on doing much jumping, just cruising like yourself. I was looking at maybe the V12 HT but my heart is like “just get the Lynx mwahahahahaha” lol jokes aside, I’m excited to start this journey.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  8 місяців тому +1

      I've seen some pretty decent deals on the V12 around. You would not be disappointed for a first wheel. It will take some effort to learn, but you'll have a decent amount of power and InMotion has better tiltback to prevent you from overleaning at speed. After you get semi-competent, it gets super addicting (the freedom and power)@@joemotive

      Honestly, I've had such a good experience with this Nikola+ (since 2022), that I was thinking about staying with Begode and going for the Begode Extreme with a hybrid tire. Even though the Lynx is looking great with its power to weight ratio, I think I would be pretty satisfied with the Begode Extreme.

    • @SAVY_JAX
      @SAVY_JAX 8 місяців тому

      I was just looking at that wheel. Personally, I’d prefer a Patton, simply because I like the Leaperkim brand a little better. I also still really enjoy my V12HT. I’m really just learning it and feel like I’ve only scratched the surface wrt riding ability using all the wheel’s performance. Our roads in NE FL are not very good. Lots of potholes and surface imperfections due to the marshy land. Makes riding challenging and that’s fun in its own way.

    • @PurpleRider
      @PurpleRider  8 місяців тому +1

      You will become a stronger, more agile rider that way. V12HT would be a great wheel to have, certainly! The Patton was an exciting release since it was a brand new, "smaller," wheel with a lot of power and durability. I am interested in Veteran for sure by now. It's just that the Begode Extreme has LED and speakers which even though they aren't amazing I appreciate the features that come along with it. I'm just making sure that when I'm ready to buy a new wheel that I do it for myself and not for other people. @@SAVY_JAX
