First time tow truck owner here. I purchased a 2007 Ford F450 6.0 Turbo Diesel 4x4 with a Chevron 408 auto grab wheel lift. I have been having some concerns based on the amount of work and rust spots on the bed of the truck. However, after watching this video, I am confident that my wrecker will turn out just fine after some much needed TLC. Thanks for sharing your build with us!
I really enjoy your videos. I'm a 3x retired Diesel tech, combat vet (22yrs-retired ), operated a fleet of 27 school busses (only tech), for 18 years. At 72, I'm working on our 4th log cabin restoration. I restore motorcycles /sidecars, old cars and trucks.
You sir are the Picasso of fabrication and rebuilding. What a beautiful labor of love to take an Old U Haul truck and turn it into a work of rolling art.
Jonathan that's one nice recovery truck custom made just the right way you wanted it time and dedication payed off earning her keep well done to you great photos.
You can do pretty much anything when you set your mind to it. You've proved it time and again. I'm always impressed with what you do without having a fancy shop with expensive tools and employees.
Beautiful! Several things are missing- photos of the truck at night, with and without the yellow lights. Thanks for displaying your great workmanship and excellent planning.
i had no idea you built that one!!!!!! im not suprised, but wow what a lot of work! and what an amazing job!!!!!!!!! i have painted a few vehicles outside, no better ventilation than mother nature!!! ha ha ...i seen you hooked on the mixer truck, i had to laugh, i drive mixer truck for a living, and i have been in that situation a time or two!!!!!!!!! great vid!!!!!!!!
You probably saved yourself $100,000 with that awesome build. It's amazing how little the truck cabs have changed over the last few decades. That new hood matched right up to that old cab.
One man's junk another man's treasure. I love this truck it's a hoss. This build hooked me on your channel. When I saw it I knew I had to meet you. Super job.
I watch some other wrecker videos too , how many of them with there fancy new trucks could build there own, not very many if any, i enjoy your stuff very much thank you
In towing especially, visibility is everything. Last thing you'd need is being squashed or someone else wrecking their car because they didn't see the big red truck. I'd bet the polished plates on the back are more than just aesthetic too. Amazing workmanship in this build, you're right he is an artist.
awesome!,great job!!,love the details, warning stickers on outriggers, the filler panels on the tool boxes!,wow,i didn't know the newer noses fit the older cabs,i thought the cab design changed, thank you
Excellent project on Tow Truck done up you wanted Johnathon :) and did 100% perfect too always also great planning on your built too! Also give lots thumbs too and keep going for years ahead too!
God bless you . For not being at the mercy of anyone . And thinking out of the box . Very nice job very inspiring. God bless be safe.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ p.s The music reminds me of 1980 movie cannonball Run. Love love love it. Very nicely done.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Man, you love that truck! Who needs factory made?! Jonathan W, it's not junk until either the smelter gets it or it becomes part of the ground once again. Thank you for the nostalgic images.
Another highly capable scratch built peace! You're building a heck of a fleeting my friend. Nice to have extra equipment in case one wants to lay down on you.
Jonathan, you are amazing! I've never come across someone as good at doing so many things as you. God gave you huge talent. Keep up the great work, my friend. Love all of your videos. Bruce
Awesome build. My towing rig is a dolly I traded for a dump truck tarp. Just rigging it with lights and power for the winch was an undertaking. But seeing this makes me more enthusiastic about upgrading my towing setup.
I watched the first video shortly after coming to your channel and really admired the job you did. I enjoyed it even more this time. Though they may not improve the function the extra steps like the slant on the pylon, the mods to the fender wells, the extra lights and the 45 degree on the top of the bed just sets this unit above and beyond others. You must look at it at times and say to your self "Made in America with Pride and I did it" Nice job.
Nice re-edit! Love to see a few minutes of video of that rig near dusk, with all of those running lights on. Must look like a Christmas tree. 😅 You did a great job building that truck.
Very nice. Just like you know what you're doin'. I'll bet you didn't paint during pollen season. And that the Carolina sun must have cured that paint mighty quick. Again, very nice.
U but that to gether really well Jonathan good pics nice to watch. It's good when u can build it yourself rather than going out and buying plus u can make it were u want everything. Really good job. Form Andy in UK.
Nearly unbelievable. What an extremely well done and impressive transformation. Great looking paint job was done outside under pine trees? Outstanding, simply outstanding. Thanks a lot for making taping editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health.
It doesn't matter how many times I see this unit and pictures and videos about it, it still excited me. The only thing I would have changed is the wheel wells around the rear tires. I would have filled them in for a more cresent shape. Other than that, stupendous!
Hi Johnathan, I would enjoy greatly, you do a wrecker in the (see at night color) that you wear. Probably too expensive. Damn sure keep you safer! I want to see more of the drag car but, I watch all. 63 and so, lucky I'm still here. Out!
Amazing I watch your videos and enjoy the way you explain everything I’ve never posted or commented on anything I never felt the need you inspired me thank you for sharing
Good re-edit and a beautiful truck. The outriggers don't have to be wider apart? Mainly for solid base (no suspension) rather than wide stability? Thanks.
Nothing like enjoying a truck built with your own 2 hands. What ive been doing with my pickup. Headache racks from a wrecked truck, leds from a guy that didnt want them. High dollar ones too for cheap. Toolbox is scratch and dent. The one before was actually off a city truck that was rolled. Still trying to source a decent replacement bumper and 2500-3500 leaf packs so i can toss out the old 3 pack ones.
Great re-edit video Jonathan. For people not in the business they really don't know what it takes to get a unique tow rig. Most people think they are bought this way which is sometimes not the case with smaller outfits. My Mechanic has an F-350 boom truck that he made using a 1983 F350 4x4 chassis, a 1996 F350 cab with nose and then building his back fenders and stuff from 14 and 16 gauge sheet steel and diamond plate with a boom and stinger he got off a tow truck that had rolled and badly damaged the donor truck.
Wow! Amazing engineering for compact heavy-duty wrecker: is that a cornbinder cab and clip? I'm a self taught carpenter so appreciate what you do; when you're self taught, you never forget because you've done it! Great tunes too!
one bad-ass dude right here!!! Jonathan i would love to come and visit u someday. love your style and hard work u do would be awesome to meet such a craftsman and would be better to help. awesome truck!!!
Great fab job.... curious, with the roll backs you've been working on currently added in..How many wreckers in all do you have? Thanks for your vids Jonathan 👍
Hi, Jonathan, They got shows for Custom Built Wreckers? You may as well take that to one of them and walk off with some more hardware......lol. It 's always a treat to see another of your video'ss, even if it is an old one (I'm still catching up) thanks for sharing

That's a rig a man would be proud to drive.
All I can say is WOW! You don't have to tow. You can build the trucks and sell them. Fantastic Job!
You sir are the Picasso of fabrication and rebuilding. What a beautiful labor of love to take an Old U Haul truck and turn it into a work of rolling art.
All I will say is, I AM TOTALLY IMPRESSED............
Excellent job looks like it just rolled off the lot the only thing missing is the new truck sticker in the window. Outstanding job
Jonathan that's one nice recovery truck custom made just the right way you wanted it time and dedication payed off earning her keep well done to you great photos.
From out of the piney woods, one fantastic creation. Job very well done! Great vid.
You can do pretty much anything when you set your mind to it. You've proved it time and again. I'm always impressed with what you do without having a fancy shop with expensive tools and employees.
Who could afford to buy one of these? You would have to build it to own it, Nice job Jonathan.
Beautiful! Several things are missing- photos of the truck at night, with and without the yellow lights. Thanks for displaying your great workmanship and excellent planning.
I think this is a real accomplishment. Lot of hard work and knowledge in this wrecker.
i had no idea you built that one!!!!!! im not suprised, but wow what a lot of work! and what an amazing job!!!!!!!!! i have painted a few vehicles outside, no better ventilation than mother nature!!! ha ha ...i seen you hooked on the mixer truck, i had to laugh, i drive mixer truck for a living, and i have been in that situation a time or two!!!!!!!!! great vid!!!!!!!!
As beautiful as any factory built wrecker! She looks like she can work too! I am in awe of your fab skills.
You probably saved yourself $100,000 with that awesome build.
It's amazing how little the truck cabs have changed over the last few decades. That new hood matched right up to that old cab.
A Mad Max rig that was actually finished up nicely. Great to see JW!
Hey Johnathon , I haven't looked you up in a long time, glad I found you're I- Tube page.☝️😎⚡🧐😱☝️
A work of art. I see you buy from the Surplus Center, I love looking through their inventory.
One man's junk another man's treasure. I love this truck it's a hoss. This build hooked me on your channel. When I saw it I knew I had to meet you. Super job.
Top of the line craftsmanship! I'd be PROUD too run that rig...
Wow, that is a nice looking wrecker. Great job, Jonathan. You are a very talented man. I think the wrecker looks better than factory built.
You did an excellent job , it looks like a brand new wrecker , keep up the good work , enjoyed the music as well .
I watch some other wrecker videos too , how many of them with there fancy new trucks could build there own, not very many if any, i enjoy your stuff very much thank you
if 2 tail lights are good, then 12 are better ( lol ). truly a unique build. you are an artist. thanks for sharing

Well 8 of those lights are Idiot lights... Like Dan said more eloquently, they keep some idiot from killing you while trying to make the tow...
it was humor, of course you need all those lights
awesome!,great job!!,love the details, warning stickers on outriggers, the filler panels on the tool boxes!,wow,i didn't know the newer noses fit the older cabs,i thought the cab design changed, thank you

Man, you love that truck! Who needs factory made?! Jonathan W, it's not junk until either the smelter gets it or it becomes part of the ground once again. Thank you for the nostalgic images.
Beautiful work, you had me thinking that rear deck was a production piece this whole time in each video i have caught it in!
Another highly capable scratch built peace! You're building a heck of a fleeting my friend. Nice to have extra equipment in case one wants to lay down on you.
Nice job Jonathan. You did yourself a big favor building that.
Wow what a cool truck. I've always loved those 80's and 90's International trucks
Jonathan, you are amazing! I've never come across someone as good at doing so many things as you. God gave you huge talent. Keep up the great work, my friend. Love all of your videos. Bruce
Wicked sweet! That wrecker body with boxes is awesome looking
Awesome build. My towing rig is a dolly I traded for a dump truck tarp. Just rigging it with lights and power for the winch was an undertaking. But seeing this makes me more enthusiastic about upgrading my towing setup.

Impressive fabrication on the boxes!

Out!
