ATGM vehicles in War Thunder haven't had the best luck recently. Gaijin nerfed their characteristics so that they're harder to control, but that isn't the problem with the Zachlam Tager. The Zachlam is based on the M3 halftrack and only carries six missiles, meaning it's both squishy and has limited endurance.

i heard you hate british vehicles, vehicles that do no damage and vehicles that are basically CAS magnets, so i think you should play the ratel 90; a gigantic british light tank with no armor, that only gets 90mm HEAT with a 7 second aced reload and that somehow always gets strafed by planes before it's even allowed to leave spawn (day 44)

both are horrendously bad, but this one doesnt have the means to kill the type 60 atm from short range while the type 60 can wreck it. Battle of the crippled midgets essentially.
Damn, that XP-50 deadass said "F*cc you specifically", he didn't even LOOK at the Emil right next to you -- I didn't even notice it at first, but he IMMEDIATELY cratered after strafing you, holy hell.
A lot of CAS spammers just get salty and revenge kill the person that killed them. Notice he used a premium plane. He prob doesnt even play air battles or ever grinded the air tree.
best part is it's a revenge cas. it was the m36 he smited.
15th time challenging Spookston to bring the Char 25t into an 8.3 lineup, and then incrementally increase the BR to find when the tank becomes unironically unplayable.

so basically every 6.7 USA tank. they need to stop looking at win rates and nerf CAS. USA has a CAS crutch
@@TheGimpy117but the US is nothing without its CAS. But yeah US CAS is insane in both this game, and most US CAS at 5-6.7 are P-51 and P-47 with bombs and rockets. They can easily defend themselves from other nations’ anti CAS fighters by just dropping them.
@@TheGimpy117 usa has one of the strongest 6.7 lineups when downtiered. id rather have a t26e5 in a full downtier than a tiger 2 or is-2. only an anti air is missing.
@@baz5042 yes. If you don't play CAS you'll notice pretty fast that anything other than USA heavies and lights at 6.7 are bad. The Pershing is another awful way overtried tank. It deserves to sit with the Panther A, but is kept afloat in the stats by far to easy to spawn CAS.
The missile apparently does NOT know where it is at all times.

There is more vehicles in this game then there is pokemon. Yet somehow my guy specifically finds that one most unfun vehicle to play every damn time.
But the Zachlam Tager is unironically one of the most fun vehicles at its BR. If you know how to use it, it's relatively small and fast (relatively) and the 'gun sight' is a pair of binoculars on a stick. That means if you find the right cover, all the enemy can see of you (or hit) is said pair of binoculars on a stick. The missiles really don't take much more than a bit of practice to use, and you're mostly fighting big, lumbering things like IS's and King Tigers. It's kind of hilarious, and also feels mean, to just smack a King Tiger with an ATGM from across the map while it can't even see you.
@@DerAlleinTiger Quite debatable however count in all the revenge bombers/CAS after you. And I don't think the Zachlam Trager is going to survive a good strafe of an ok CAS user due to it's open top and exposed missiles. (Im pretty sure they explode when you shoot them).
@@A_menace_to_society69 CAS is annoying no matter what, especially for any open-top. Though I don't believe I've ever had one of the missiles blow up on me from getting strafed. Not sure if that's luck or what, or I just didn't notice because I was going to be dead anyway. Still, I don't base how fun a vehicle is based on being strafed by CAS in it or not, because CAS is a scourge no matter what vehicle you're in. and no matter what BR you're at.
@@A_menace_to_society69i'm pretty sure that between its open top and being literally just an M5 Halftrack, literally every aircraft in its BR range can kill it.
Whatever's not open topped on this thing is not .50-cal proof and Spookston did get a game at the start where he was on Germany's team vs. America.
@@DerAlleinTiger its only flaw that hinders its fun is the lack of ammo. 6 heat rounds is not enough ever, you basically need to camp on a captured site.
that also means cas will always find you.

After removing ammo rack kill from it, it’s darn good TD.
this vehicle brings a issue i never really thought about- if its one of those 1 cap game modes, you have really limited ammo, and you cant replenish it unless you are ON the cap... so if the enemy have it, and you are trying to fight for it and run out of ammo, you end up useless. like, you will have 0 ammo, and because you dont have the cap, you cant replenish ammo... and because you have no MG, and no other weapon you become a 0% contribution to your team... there should be a way to replenish ammo in your spawn.
They are gonna "fix" that this summer I think it was
I like this vehicle, but yeah the low ammo count isn’t helping the hard to control missiles
Same with Missile only AA like the strela or the ocelot, once you run out of them you can't fight Planes and even with ammo you can't fight tanks
It was also funny with the Italian M42 Contraero. As your guns had no 2nd Belt, you needed to waste ammo if you wanted to replenish it. 40 rounds left? Well better dump them or you cant load any new one. Glad they at least fix that.
They should make it have extra rockets like the katausha
M901 is a US dedicated ATGM carrier and it is turreted.
I quite liked spading the zachlam, only problem being anything open topped is marked for death after getting a minute into the game

This thing is definitely unnecessarily bullied. Its not as bad as people make it out to be. The worst thing about it is its ammo count, the rest is pretty manageable. Just be glad you didn't put the Type 60 in the poll because you know we would've picked it

youre one of my favorite guys who make videos mostly because no one can truly put the highs and lows of having fun and also suffering so real in this game. particularly the former because when its fun its fun but man. does it ever make me almost want to cry sometimes

Spookston just spawn a single vehicle per match, that way you avoid all planes. You either die before planes start to spawn or the planes take you out anyway.

I feel like it's overly hated, it's not amazing but beyond the ammo issue it's not bad either. You can hull down pretty easy in sniping spots and slap people with impunity until you're out of your 6 missiles lol

@@signs80 absolutely agree, this thing for me actually works great when you set ambushes or be aggressive with flanking. passive playstyle works less well for me.

This vehicle was designed to fight in the desert/sparse, rolling terrain. In other words, mostly what you weren't getting.
The video on the Zachlam Tager was amazing! I hope you consider making a video on the Bkan 1C or pbv 301. Both are amazing.

Funny enough the CAS that strafed at 6:20 was actually the same T-34 that he hit 3 times but never destroyed. Love revenge cas kills so fun.
Fun fact about the Raketenjagdpanzer 2
I don't know exactly when but they gave it a researchable missle which is practically the same as the stock one it uses exept this that it's guided by the mouse and not the keyboard which makes it arguably a bit more versatile vehicle than the Raketenjagdpanzer 2 HOT since you can shot one rocket and then then the other one while the first one is being reloaded. Def worth giving a second try by those that played it back then when it had only the keyboard guided missles.

Hey Spookston, I would love to see you play the other version of the Type 60 in the Japanese tech tree, the one that has two recoilless guns instead of the horrible middle launcher version. The Type 60 SPRG (C) just looks like it could be a blast to play with its massive amount of pin and two separate identical cannons!

I liked playing the Zachlam Tager as something to challenge myself with, and it can be very satisfying to play when you find a good spot. But at times it sure can be miserable. I play AB myself, so it of course benefits from mouse aiming for the ATGMs, and gets a very long replenishment of ammo after firing all missiles, even when not on cap. On the other hand, it is so much more easy to see even at a distance.

Zachlam Tager is good at one thing. It is exceptional at staying hull down and still able to aim. The sights are above the missiles, and they fire upwards. You can fire them from behind cover.
One of these took me out and in Maus last night and I was genuinely disappointed one of THOSE killed me.

MCLOS is the most powerfull tool in the game but also most people dont have the patience to use it

ATGMs fighting WW2 tanks. Every day, the odds of me ever playing again diminish.
Watching these videos is enough for me.
For what it's worth, it only gets 6 missiles at a time, they're hand-guided (so you have to stand completely still and use WASD to maneuver them... with inverted controls) and even when they hit they're HEAT so... you either completely nuke something or you kill 1 module. It's also open-topped and virtually unarmored, so if anyone catches you in basically any situation but your most ideal you're just dead.
In spite of all that, I love the thing.

Hey spookston, you should do a video on the T110E series. As far as I know didn't evolved past blueprints for most of them and a wooden mockup for the E5 variant. Those are seen in world of tanks, i played them but i would like to see a historical video on those please.
I think you should play the type 60 sprg. It's tiny but it has a 106mm cannon on it. It's also pretty fast from what I've seen.
I actually like this vehicle on certain maps. If you get a hill control point, this is a threat with behind cover fire capability and fast missile.

This was one of the most frustrating vehicles I ever had but also one of vehicles I had the most fun on.
The aiming feels less of a point and shoot plus with WASD you can do some trick shots.
If you are familiar with the GMC line from America like me then it will a little sluggish but familiar.
Also, scouting, a huge deal in this game. Finding this out was like seeing the Hellcat get scouting.
I love how much of a Goober the M-51 and the Tager are
I actually like keyboard guided atgms I feel like they wander off less the mouse aim ones and with some practice you can be pretty potent with them.
