Nice mobile-stationary / portable setup. Neatly executed. I am guessing that the 3 different length radials improve communications on 3 chosen bands? Further guessing that when you backed up the truck, that tightened and elevated the ANT wire all the way to the tree? Nicely done video. Even without voice-over, I “got it”. My mobile station in my 2011 Lincoln Town Car uses an Icom AT-180 tuner to various “ham stick” type, trunk lip mounted antennas. “Ugly BALUN scramble-wound” the extra length of coax in the trunk close to the Hustler ANT lip mount. Radio is old Icom 7000 with the color screen. Love that color screen!!!!!!!! Thank you for posting. Nice video. Bill - W7JZE
Thanks for the comment Bill. I don't really use the radials any longer. I didn't put enough effort into trying to determine if they were effective. Yes, they are cut to different lengths for frequency as suggested by Icom. I reversed the truck in the video to take the slack out of the wire. That was only done because I didn't give myself enough room. Obviously, much easier to adjust from the "tree" end.
interesting set up .. perhaps a little information on how you configured your Tacho truck - power feed from battery; the antenna components look a bit complicated but I like how quickly you put it together. Do the ground radials really make a difference? .. I like your cameras in the rearview mirror; and is your vhf/uhf radio using the antenna on the hood? ... acutally enjoyed watching this.
The mast is actually aluminum. It's a 54" Hustler MO-3 mast. I believe it's used to elevate the Hustler coils, but I use them as antennas. I use the OPEK KD-4 quick connects also. I'll try to make a video about what I use as an antenna. It's hard to explain in words, but essentially I connect three MO-3 masts together with the quick connects.
Those are 10 gauge, made from Silicone wire from Amazon. I only used them briefly in that configuration. Unable to determine if they made any difference.
nice setup! preppers will love it
Great setup, my sister in law lives about 1/4 mile from El Yunque
Awesome! If you go to PR, take your radio!!

Cool
Great job, sure works!
Thanks! A great location helps.
Hi Boss where can I find that fiber glass "rod" that you are using to attach the long wire to the AT4?

How to get the license for ham radio in Puerto Rico?
What gauge is the radials wire you using?

What you do for a living boss man?
Thats a very clumsy pooor performing antenna.
I worked 5000 miles plus QRP with a mobile whip. No kluge antennas and fake tuners
.
QRP. TEN WATTS.
Stopped watching....so many ads.
