doesn't matter your age. It is because you don't have the leg and other muscles developed for skateboarding yet. Skate often, stretch after each session and after a few more weeks you won't feel that sore anymore.
When I first started skating I didn't like riding long distances but all my friends that skated for years would skate around like 15 miles a day which was hard for me to do but with consistancy it became easy and I enjoy skating with my friends no matter the distance. So just keep at it and you'll get better and more use to it even if you don't feel like you are
I'm 15 and i only started skating about 1year ago, but with consistency I can ollie, pop shuv, varial, kickflip. Just keep at it practice as much as you can and I have no doubt you'll get some sick tricks🤙
I'm scared of looking like an idiot while practicing and I dont feel comfortable when just riding around. I have a skateboard since last year but I'm too embarrased to go out...
Peter Pan we all look like idiots when practicing in the beginning nobody will take the piss out of you (and if they do they're just being dicks) so get out there and don't give a fuck buddy!
Dude, that literally used to be me a couple of weeks ago. My advice: overcome your fear and just do it. You will be surprised how liberating it feels. Fuck what people think. You do what makes you happy
I started skating about a year ago, I still feel the same way when everyone stares at me, just ignore the negative comments, most of them don’t even skate fam.
the commitment/fear one is so true and i cant stress that enough to new skaters including myself. i didnt try an ollie on concrete on the first two weeks of learning and when i finally tried with full commitment i actually landed it. One thing that helped is recording your progess, id record my grass ollies and slow them down to see if i was doing the movements right, and it feels really good knowing you did an ollie and just didnt land right so you can see what youre doing wrong! :)
I tried an Ollie the first day I started actually wanting to learn. I cant just ride or balance yet but I'm super impatient so I tried an Ollie(I dont have grass) and it slid away and I fell and my wrist still hurts 5 days later. But super happy for you landing yours!
I'm turning 37 next month and I just put together my first board (tactics board builder). You answered a handful of questions I've had (age, jumping, nose vs tail, et al) so thank you! Your videos and Braille videos are an incredible help to the true noobs :D
To answer everyone (I just got an alert today)... I'm still old (39 this year!) and falling still hurts but I've got ollies and feel super comfortable on a deck now. 🤗 I still can't kick/heel flip but I can watch videos and name tricks properly 😂. If you're learning young, abuse your young body as much as you can cus it sucks at this age!
I'm just glad people dont go around saying "do a switch laser" but genuinely surprised that not as many say "do a 3 flip" like they do with kickflips lol
Dude I'm in my 30's, still skate occasionally and I'm definitely outta shape compared to how I was in my teens and early 20's. May not be jumping down big sets anymore but this old fart can still cruise.
Varian Manek yeah kinda but it's also not only about the flatgroud... I can do well over 50 different tricks on flat but I can barely frontside 50-50 so I would still condider myself a beginner... I guess you need to be a little more all terrain to be intermediate... But all of this is quite subjective I guess!
For me there is no answer because I never cared about the level people consider I have. I'm not a beginner or intermediate skateboarder. I'm a skateboarder. Period.
I would personally say that once you learn how to Ollie, you are no longer a beginner. Intermediate is starting to learn fliptricks. Also, once you start being able to get a longer tricklist. If you are able to do stuff like Boneless, No Comply 180, maybe some slappy grinds on curbs, Strawberry Milkshake, and 180s, that's more intermediate stuff.
that skating on the broken board was awesome! That's why in my beginning levels I don't worry about deck size or brand too much, it doesn't make a difference to me. I'm sure once I get A LOT better I will be able to fine tune my specific specs much more intelligently. For now, as long as it's not a walmart board it should be good.
My lower body has been aching, and have only been skating for about 3 days. I am gonna go hard tomorrow because I didn't do much besides cruise around a bit today 🔥
*BRO* Legit, dont feel embarrassed to go in a skate shop...They are Chill asf...my first time going in was yesterday. They Gave Me a better price then normal...the board was $100, but they gave me a discount on it and i got it for $80
I broke my first Tony Hawk board (early 2000's Birdman. Best graphic EVER) as a 110lb 13 year old kid lol. Weight doesn't matter too much. Hell, just look at Steve Caballero.
:59 Thank you for answering the 'which one is the tail' question. I just got back into skateboarding after like a two decade hiatus and I couldn't remember which was the front and which was the back. I got the Zero single skull deck and I was thinking "Well, the top of the skull should be the front...but then again, if I was skating with the teeth pointing toward the front, then it would have the perspective of the skull flying forward so maybe that's right." So I over-thinked myself into a place where what should be simple became too complex hehe.
Im 14 y/o and i've been cruising on a cruiser since the last 2 years now and i spent some money on a new cruiser now and after that i have watched some yt and now i want a regular one, right now im just tryna do tricks with that but it aint going well, fml
14 and I’ve never had a skateboard. (Getting one next week) I’m kinda scared about going to skateparks because I don’t have friends to skate with. And I know people say that everyone won’t judge and it will be fine but I can’t help but be a little scared you know? 😂
i bought my first skateboard off amazon, but it still worked really well *make sure you read most of the reviews (especially most recent ones) before you buy and look at the company details and things like that to make sure its legit and wont get a walmart board*

Livviu very common, think everyone has had that moment. The nose is always bigger than the tail. I actually switch my board around and use the nose as my tail, and the tail as the nose. No real reason or advantage, I just prefer a bigger tail and a mellow nose. Skate a blank and nobody will know :p
I insictively try to impress people walking down the street, if I'm just riding and I see someone, I'll try some random trick and most of the time, I'll either not land it or land it and then immediately hit a rock or something and just look like I have no idea what I'm doing. The one time I do actually land it in front of them, 8 times out of 10 they don't care or didn't notice. The other 1 time though, I'll get a "Cool!" And that's good. The other 1 time out of 10 it's some old guy telling me to be careful.
For the questions about not landing both feet on the board or the board flying away from you, I found that my problem with that is partly fear and commitment but largely the way I balance my weight on the board for a trick. For example, when trying to learn a kickflip I was putting most of my weight towards my back foot instead of keeping it even between both feet and that's what was causing my board to fly ahead of me instead of staying under my feet preventing me from putting my back food on to land.
I have been skate for nearly 3months and I love it. I was embarrassed at first because I kept falling off my board. But I had a target board. Once I got good trucks and deck I found it a lot easier. Don't give a shit on what people think. Do it for you
Just got my first deck from SW ty so much for inspiring me to start practicing, keep up the quality videos :) also came back to this vid to figure out the nose and tail lol

For 1:38 I met someone who had a similar problem, except instead he always tried tricks rolling fakie. He had supposedly been skating for 6 years just not trying tricks so it was hard for him to stop. By the end of the day he was still trying to do his first ollie riding fakie with almost Daewon level loose trucks. It was a confusing 2 hours for both of us
How to make you razor tailed board last longer: get wood filler and sand paper, apply the wood filler onto the place that is to thin. Then spread it with a knife. Once the wood filler has dried use the sand paper to smoother out the wood filler.
@vlskate you are my favorite UA-cam skater, I skated alot when I was 13 to 16 but stopped after high school I am now 22 and I watched some of your videos and I got a skateboard and got back into and when ever I was having trouble learning a new trick I would come to your channel. I would like to say I am a pretty decent skater now and it is a huge passion of mine and I just wanted to say thank you! Also your probably not even gonna see this but if you do I would love to skate with you that would be legit 👌🏻😂💯
I'm a girl and I enjoy to skate. I dont tell people about this because I don't want them to say im a wannabe skater girl. I don't have a yard or anything to skate and I really don't wanna get judged for skating.. I use my cousin's board to skate and I'm getting my first board soon! I can't wait and I've been watching skating videos because I'm so excited! :)
I literally can’t go to skateparks because I’m a beginner I don’t know how itll work and I might get in people way, also I’m too stupid to know how to get onto a ramp
When I started out I got a Walmart skateboard and then later on got some spit fire wheels and put them on there. It helped out until I saved up for a good board.
i'm a goofy rider, and used to think it was easier to do tricks regular, but that's because usually, skateboarders skate regular. So, if you're learning of tutorials, or other skaters, try to learn of people that also ride goofy. Worked wonders for me, and though it sounds obvious, you typically don't think about basic stuff like this :)
I bought a Walmart board before I started really getting into it because it was all I could afford. It hasn’t broken yet and I ride completely fine after tightening the trucks! I know I’ll probably have to upgrade eventually, but I can’t afford to now so I’ll continue to work with what I have
8:41 for a stupid editing mistake. i say "free" and "skateboard" at the same time :)

Ive been skating for about a year(like actually trying tricks and stuff like) and I just landed my first front side 180 today!! Practice makes perfect

I always revert when i land in switch
Carson Peterson amazing. I just landed my first first kickflip the other day and front 180 is my favorite trick once you master it
Why do people only say “do a kick flip” instead of any other trick?
Kick Flip is what everyone knows basically
its the most well known trick outside of the skate community

What makes a skateboarder intermediate? Like, once a skateboarder learns the kickflip, are they no longer a beginner?
I think once you start combining flip tricks, that's when you hit intermediate. rather than kickflip, I think varial flip would be a better option
Varian Manek yeah kinda but it's also not only about the flatgroud... I can do well over 50 different tricks on flat but I can barely frontside 50-50 so I would still condider myself a beginner...
thank you for making this amazing vids, keep it up
I literally can’t go to skateparks because I’m a beginner I don’t know how itll work and I might get in people way, also I’m too stupid to know how to get onto a ramp
Don’t be afraid to go! Skaters at your local skatepark will help you. They are nicer than you think. Practicing there is great.
Love your channel and your videos keep it up
your videos are great, thanks for posting
i learned kickflips from pretending to do it on carpet, and then focusing on my flip foot to go back by just jumping up and doing the motion.
When I started out I got a Walmart skateboard and then later on got some spit fire wheels and put them on there. It helped out until I saved up for a good board.
I know what your doing! Your helping me out!
i'm a goofy rider, and used to think it was easier to do tricks regular, but that's because usually, skateboarders skate regular.
