Something I've never before seen and/or heard of. Loved seeing Pat Harrington, Sebastian Cabot, Beverly Garland & the others. Thanks!

There's nothing cuter than seeing Mary Tyler Moore get frustrated at charades

This is fabulous, I'm a massive DVD Show fan, so this, is a cool extra to see some of the gang on a different show, and it's so much fun, the woman on the other team who shouts is mad!
I love the way Dick gets his loose limber rubber moves in and the nervous bow tie, so surreal.
It's kind of like UK 80s Give Us a Clue with Lionel Blair and Una Stubbs only with puns and parodies.
And they all look fabbo, nicely turned out and actually animated, unlike the majority of so called TV stars today.
Thank you for posting this gem.

This is like extreme charades. I kind of want to play. But only if the cast of the DVD show are there!

I have to agree with the host that the slowness to get "poppa" was frustrating.

Pat Harrington, Jr. was the host, but didn't last long.
He left at the end of 1962, and producer Mike Stokey (who had previously hosted the program when it was called "Pantomime Quiz") took over.
"Stump The Stars" was cancelled by CBS at the end of the 1962/63 season, but I believe it was revived with new episodes for syndication in 1964. But the revival lasted only 26 weeks.

Now we know where the idea of Hollywood Game Night, came from, but minus the non-celebrity contestant that played with the celebrity teams.

Noooo!!! They should have lost points or seconds rather for getting stumped! Come on!

    • @jedijones
      @jedijones 7 років тому +2

Yeah, that sucks. So getting the right answer at 119 seconds is only a 1 point difference from not getting it at all? No wonder this show didn't last, LOL. The time should've only been used to break ties if everyone solved the same amount of puzzles.

@@jedijones So how did they win? Cant be carried over points from the last game as Dick and co were new players. I am confused though loved your insight on that's why the game didn't last haha

It's interesting: people talk about how today's dresses are "barely there," and are tight--but Mary's dress isn't far from this (and this show took place half a century ago.)

@gustavo c. Yes, there was a definite air of "we all know what's going on, but we're going to be dishonest about it" in 1960s fashion....

Wow, no penalty for not getting it at all in time? So, the Champion team had won before they even played the last round, that's disappointing.

OMG. No numerical address or zip code? And this was the 60's?
That's like picking up a dial-less phone and asking Marge to get Andy Taylor on the phone.
Why can't things be like they were? They claim progress is good. I beg to differ.
