When I was a kid I loved Flip Wilson. I didn't know about racism at that time. I didn't Flip Wilson was the first BLACK anything. I just loved his show and all the people on it no matter the color...Joan Rivers....Sampson.....Flip Wilson....Roberta Flack...Temptations....Redd Fox
Same here, we're Hispanic and we had very few African Americans, native Americans in my school/neighborhood. And we didn't have a lot of money either.My mother never taught us that any race was better than the other. We used to watch flip every week and fell love with him especially Ms. Geraldine Jones. Thanks mom. In fact my mom cleaned house for a black couple. I went to school with their son from grade school till Jr. High. We would run into each other from time to time, he remembered my mom taking me with her to clean their house when I was younger.
"Don't touch me! You don't know me that well." Geraldine Jones's oft-repeated warning to all the men in all of Flip Wilson's sketches is as pertinent now as it was back then. Comic genius.

We remember recording Nick at Nite's TV LAND on their 1st Anniversary when TV LAND's Really Big Shows 3 hour extravaganza aired in 1997 as The Flip Wilson show aired, and after November 30, 1997, Nick at Nite's prefix above TV LAND logo was dropped to prevent confusion when new CGI graphics, billboards, bumpers and music debuted December 1, 1997 on TV LAND. But we remember watching The Flip Wilson Show when we were young, and we loved this show!

Yes, yes Geraldine, Cosby was definitely in the hospital with a swollen ego. I'm sure that Cosby would have welcomed three more patients in his bed, as long as they were women. Such a shame that Cosby let his ego get the best of him. Talent is one thing, a swollen ego is another that brought him down.
