Have you seen the throw I teach in this episode?
It's one of my favourite to use in sparring because there's almost no chance of hurting my training partner.
Gabriel I just watched a fight tip video where that guy is saying it's all right to kick people in the head in the street fight. You should be very careful teaming up with these people because they're not nearly as classy and as professional as you are. I cannot believe that Shane would give people advice like that when first of all it's clearly against the law to kick someone in the head with your shoes on. And the same people you shared your video with are saying that to people on UA-cam who have no professionalism in them and will have no problem kicking someone in the face and saying that they told him to do it. I cannot believe that Shane would even tell people that
How is it against the law anymore than a different strike?
Street fights are situational, you do what is needed to get out of tge situation.
This is fighting its not ballroom dancing.
And to be honest with you Gabriel this is why I follow you. I have never heard you as a professional talking about hurting someone on the street. I find it so offensive that a professional like Shane would tell someone people to kick someone in the head in the street fight. There is a difference between you and everyone else
The throw is very similar to a donkey pull down in wrestling. Basically the same technique except there is no kick involved.
There’s a vid of some sanda guys training this one years ago and I think the partner was caught by surprise, and the back of his head slaps the floor. But, I guess, if you are asleep and don’t fall right, or the coach isn’t worried about safety, you’ll get hurt doing anything.
Already miss you guys -- can't wait to train again soon!
it llooks like this was such a fun event
Come down to ATL!!
Shane you are full of knowledge
Been with you since 2013/14, gave me a solid foundation in boxing technique and for that I am forever grateful. 💪🏾♥️🙏🏾

Did you guys see where I totally swept a 6x world champ?? 5:29
And the newwwww world champ....Senseeeeiii SETH! 🎉
@@GabrielVargaOfficial 😂😂😂
Man the vibes in this room are so amazing with all these gentle killers. Looks like you all had a lot of fun!
We sure did. All these guys were great. Happy, kind and a blast to spend time/film with.
Wow Kevin Lee went from wrestling tony ferguson to kung-fu. Such a drastic change. Keep it up Kev
But where does he fit into all of this?
@@asaprocky538 the description
Do we really have to spell it out for you? This isn’t the Kevin lee from the UFC, if it wasn’t already blatantly obvious …
@@jbarbaro7752 Do I really have to spell it out for you? He's being sarcastic, if it wasn't already blatantly obvious.
@@lupus4687 sarcasm involves tone right? Impossible to see that over text so calm down emotional kid
Oh yes Ramsey Dewey favourite sweep that he learned from a tai chi master
I was gona make a similar comment.
I saw it first there as well. Pendulum sweep I think it was called.
You know when you see this about Ramsey, he either sounds like an anime protagonist mentor or another mcdojo teacher, the polarising energy of Ramsey Danger Dewey is unmatched here😮💨, also I love this reference, It reminds me Ramsey’s older videos.
Nice technique, I learned it from Sanda/Sanshou myself. It's a very high percentage move. You can also blow someone's knee out if you choose to push forward first then quickly jerk it before executing the move.
Yep. Blowing out the knee was my first thought. That's why I never round kick to the body, because if they catch your leg pinned to their body blowing out the knee is easy as can be. Don't even have to try to throw.
This collaboration is next level. Loving these videos!
Glad you like them!
I like the first sweep too because that’s similar to an ankle pick and leads to great follow ups for MMA
Also very similar to a donkey pull off a single leg in wrestling.
I love that you mentioned how other people used the techniques against you rather than just talking about your own success with the move like most channels do
It’s almost like you’re doing a Puter Kapala (head turning throw from Silat) on the other end. Very cool.
Incredible input and opinion. Thank you guys...
“Those are definitely two different energies.” 😂
glad to see the hard2hurt guy here
Love all those sweeps!!
You're the man for sharing this! 😎
I do this technique when i was kids when i learn Pencak Silat. It's long time ago. I don't know in muay Thai has the same technique too. I have been learn Muay Thai 6 month but i didn't seen this yet. Awesome
My favourite martial art channel... Gabriel Varga is just amazing...
The 2nd channel I love to watch is Jeff Chan...
Kevin Lee is so cool :)
So much quality content! Thank you so much, hope you keep uploading forever
But where does Kevin Lee fit into all this
- Chael Sonnen
He's small and flexible, he can fit in anywhere.
4:17 turtle bug formation
Great info as usual! Love your content 🙏
I have been involved in Muay Thai for 30 years and I always pick up cool tips from all of you.
Great move
Pulled the Shane Fazen version of this on my first try against this guy who was like 6 inches taller than me today, the technique is super effective!
I was on team Jhoon Rhee for a lot of years...... quite a while back. A lot of what you do is new to me. Great stuff. Thanks! Any my only claim to fame was sparring with Bill Wallace.....lol.
GOLF SWING - a very San Shou Sanda Move
1st sweep very popular in Sanda
Gabrial Vargas technique is actually found in Tai Chi and Sanda. Unfortunately more Muay Thai fighters can actually pull it off than Tai Chi practicioners lol.
That's because is a Muay Thai technique and they have more experience using it. Muay Thai fighter have been using This technique in real combat for hundreds of years.
This is so dope
Perfect timing. I've been trying to learn sweeps and it always looked easy when pros do it but when I do it they always felt like I couldn't move it. It's so obvious after watching this video like why didn't it occur to me to sweep when they are hopping. Lol. Thanks for this. It's one super basic but important thing I was missing
Nice one, I love it and I am stealing it!
Please do!
Start throwing everyone at your gym. The won't know what's happening 👍
Sanda has the same take down as the one shown by Gabriel
We learn this one at my karate school lol i love watching Mike try to process the sweep 😅
Perhaps there should be a ‘Rock Lee’ challenge for all martial art channels
is that first technique the "golf swing takedown" that ramsey dewey uses?
Needs more Ramsey Dewey :)
nice video ty
Sensei McDojo Seth
All you're missing, is Erik Paulson!
I second this!
These throws are very helpfull especially because they will also work great if your opponend is heavier and bigger than you. i will try these on my sparing partners next time ..lol🤫
Is this video recorded before the ‘side kick’ video?
Not gonna like, the way that you guys fell reminded me of aikido. But I need to try this myself
I've done Aikido. It is a good martial art for dealing with falling. And I love the rolls.
that look icy gave reminded me of a kid who just learned a new cuss word.
Any good sweeps from southpaw vs orthodox?
Just here for the Kevin Lee memes🙋♂ trying to figure out where he fits into this.
You thinking UFC Kevin Lee.
Different guy but he's in the episode.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial never thought I’d get a reply! I got a fight in January thank you for laying a foundation for guys like myself 🙌🙌 watch a lot of your stuff!
Yo what if you catch the leg the way Kevin did then do the pull and roll thing... Cause the way Kevin caught the leg looks safer and high percentage
The kick Kevin caught was a roundhouse kick, not a front kick; I don't have experience with the sweep Gabriel showed myself, but Ramsey Dewey talks about it a lot and he mentions in one video that it's not as useful against a side kick as a front kick because their hips are aligned the wrong way. I imagine it's the same for a roundhouse.
Oh fuck I thought it was Kevin Lee, the ex-UFC fighter.
That’s not the Kevin lee I thought it would be lmao
Did you guys do sparring? Not that I'm interested to see "who would win," just how all these interesting styles would be used in sparring.
It seems like you guys made 20+ different videos. You should all put everyone's videos into one big playlist, so it is easy to watch all these videos from this UA-cam martial artist retreat.
I wonder how this would be if someone used this sweep technique in a street fight
Good, if you can pull it off. Very unlikely in a street fight.
@@huwhitecavebeast1972 Right? It's not that it's hard to catch the kick, but you'll definitely need lots of space, and that might not be available. Shane's version is a lot tighter, though. Who knows?
this is like what islam did to dustin
That's a cool setup for a legit wrestling single leg. When I learned it I heard it called a Golf Swing.
I never thought to set it up on the front kick though. Awesome idea.
Gabriel is a true warrior in the garden. Always concerned about the safety of his partner while still being a savage. Awesome to see.
The first technique you did was a classic sanda/sanshou move. In fact I would say it's our second favourite takedown after just going for a double/single. Really recommend everyone to try it it! Also, damn this collabs are just a goldmine of information! love this stuff
Wanted to state the same :)
I was about to say the same. That's the very first sweep I learnt in Sanda. My coach always says that the (✓) shape means a perfect sweep. "GOOD =good" 👍👌
Seth flying across the floor like kungfu panda was hilarious
Thanks for having me! I can't wait to see you guys again!
Looking forward to the next one as well
goooo @@GabrielVargaOfficial
Watching Mike’s mind getting blown is just so funny
Ramsey Dewey did a video on that sweep. He got it from Taichi. I guess a lot of traditional system got that movement but of don't use them in soarring
Shane was violent with it lol
Can't wait for the challenge vids, y'all together has been so much fun to watch 😆
Wait challenge vids?!?
I've been taught this throw multiple times, but goddamn I still haven't gotten the timing or motion down. It's definitely effective but getting it down is rough.
This Sunday is gonna be my first ever amateur Muay thai fight ,Pretty scary
Please keep me in your prayers
Good luck you got this!
@@Will_Reyes4 you're the man💪🏾
Good luck!
You can do it bro. Go get him!
I love this technique, it is a classic sanda move, every chinese kickboxer know this for sure. Pretty awesome
I didn't know that. See, I get to learn to on the channel as well.
Thanks for the info.
Ramsay Dewey does this sweep as well! Pretty cool!
@RamseyDewey this is your move
This is not the Kevin Lee that I know
The Muay Thai counter to catching a leg is scary stuff if you're an innocent like me. They'll jump into you so they're above the foot you've caught, stamp downwards (with a sweaty leg) while grabbing your neck in a Muay Thai clinch. You can go from grabbing the leg to being kneed in about two seconds.
Dude all these youtubers in one gym is awsome!
This is a much more likable Kevin lee
I love that this professional kickboxer, a man that makes his living in violence, values this technique due to the safety to his opponent/ partner
That first one is awesome. If Aikido included kick defenses that would be one. It incorporates the key principles of blending and circular redirection. Beautiful. Sorry to bring up Aikido, just sayin'.
I agree. Seems like something we used to do in Aikido but holding the leg instead of the arm.
When you lower the leg pull it back up as high as you can again they’ll go flying- it’s easy to stay up just pulling it down, you need to flip the leg up again to get the full effect. Edit: yeah Shane fazen did it right!
I was expecting the UFC Kevin Lee but this one will do 😂
we've practiced this a few years ago but honestly we don't do it while sparring, but we definitely should. its much safer
Hearing Gabriel talking about concern for hurting his opponents is wild considering the mentality of combat sports. He's nicer than Stephen Thompson!
Well you don't have infinite sparring partners either
Saw this Sweep on Ramsey Dewey´s Chanel and really liked it due to the gentle Takedown. My most used Takedown in BJJ became the Inside/Outside Trip that i snatched from Chewjitsu. Again it´s really gentle and you can start to work an the mats.
If I ever need a demonstration of the ideal gym atmosphere, I'll use this video. Everyone's respectful, learning and sharing.
Is it just me or is everyone extra excited to do the sweeps?
Who wouldn't be?
I injured a muscle or something
in my friends leg by pulling quite hard with those type of sweeps or counters when we were drilling them I toned it down afterwards I always thought I had to yank really hard for them to work properly lol. You can definitely injure someone by yanking really hard.
Why was I expecting UFC's Kevin Lee? 😂😂
Itd be really cool to test foot wear for kickers. Do sneakers cushion your kick. How much do steal toe boots slow you down. Do hard leather/thick rubber combat boots significantly help ext
The mechanics of the takedown that Gabriel showed is something I've also seen in wrestling. The one from Shane is nasty! You gotta watch out not to blow out your own back with it, but it's awesome ... 😄
Gabriel and Mike setting up a seminar at my local KB gym with Simon Santana would be a treat to everyone there.
But i can't see anyone of them coming to Norway in the near future.
That seems to be an aikido throw. Definitely an aikido philosophy.
Eyyy it's the Ramsey Dewey golf swing. I haven't had the chance to figure it out yet so I just lift and shove.
Looks like more proof of my theory that the best / most important technique to teach in self-defence and martial arts is how to roll without getting hurt. :-)
Videos of a bunch of so cool guys at mikes gym are awesome. Pls do that more often, the mix of the guys makes it soooooo great.
Best wishes out of germany
This is a gentle sweep. Sensai Seth: Hold my Beer! Lets make it dirty! :D
I was expecting a much more melanin gifted Kevin Lee for some reason.
Ramsey Dewey teaches that as a tai chi throw for MMA. He says he learned it from an old tai chi guy.
Combat tested. Coming Harrison, to not believe it, is pure asinine.
Wow Kevin Lee changed colour and size
Is that move technically a "sweep"?
I see holes in this tutorial
Golf swing sweep
That first sweep comes from sanda 🤗
I was expecting a different Kevin Lee 😅
what was much more entretaining than I thought !
